  • Gentle sunrise alarm experience

  • Buggy, unreliable companion app
  • Wi‑fi-dependent core functionality
  • Limited free sound library

Hatch earns strong reviews for genuinely improving sleep routines with gentle sunrise alarms, soothing white/brown noise, and kid-friendly light cues, but app glitches, Wi‑Fi dependence, and paywalled content frustrate users. Reviews of Hatch highlight sleek, minimalist design and reliable nightly use across years and households, while noting intermittent audio dropouts, limited free sounds, and finicky tap controls—making it effective yet imperfect.

  • I have heard amazing things about hatch. They are amazing with helping your sleep schedule and giving you overall better mental and physical health.

  • I was gifted the Hatch Restore 2 this past December and LOVE it!! It starts turning on the light about 30 minutes before the alarm noise sounds which i've noticed has helped me wake up in a more relaxing way than when I had my alarm blare suddenly. Also you can pretty much customize the experience completely - whether that be the color of light, brightness, type of sound, and volume. You can also apply different setting to different days of the week which i really like! Since getting the hatch, I have been going on my phone less often in the morning when i wake up too! My 1 critique is that I tried to bring it back to college with me after break and have been having a hard time setting it up since it requires WiFi and it cannot connect to my university's network... but it worked perfectly using my home wifi!

  • So far so good! I really like having a separate physical alarm, and the customization features are great. You program the alarm from your phone, and then you can do what the doctors tell you and sleep with your phone in the other room. I'm still working up to this, but Hatch makes it possible. White/brown noises are also helpful.

  • I'm a night owl, so weekdays are often a struggle when it comes to falling asleep at a reasonable hour. My Hatch seriously helps out at night when I'm making the transition between nighttime and bedtime. I love that it has an accompanying app, which makes it super easy to adjust its settings, or to find the perfect meditation. My only annoyance with Hatch is that it can be pretty glitchy, although most issues seem to be solved with a restart.

  • waking up has never been easier, I love how calm and relaxing the hatch alarm is! I enjoy waking up so much more with hatch!

  • This is absolutely one of my favorite products ever. I am a morning person, but even so, sometimes it can be difficult and snoozing the alarm is the way to go. Once I started using hatch I stopped needing to snooze. I use the night routine to slowly prepare me for bed which puts me in a deep sleep. I have the initial shut off to thunderstorms and then I have rain going all night until I have a beautiful sunrise gradually wake me up in the morning. This product is fantastic and I highly recommend to anyone.

  • We have three of these in our house - we love them! But as the older ones start to break down or lack features (like the digital clock), Hatch has priced themselves out of the market, as their feature set is no longer innovative and competitors have the same if not more features for a lower price. Their customer service is very friendly though. In summation, it's cool, but not worth the price.

  • The hatch + baby monitor is super solid. It does what it needs and the fact that it also is rechargeable has come in very handy.

We only really use it as a sound machine so it's probably a little expensive for that need.

  • I recently tried the Hatch Restore 2, and it has some great features. The sunrise alarm and customizable sleep sounds are nice, and the design is sleek. However, I was surprised to find that many features require a $4.99/month subscription. For the price, I expected more functionality without additional costs. If you're willing to pay for the subscription, it could be a good fit, but for me, the extra fees were a bit much.

  • Have one of the Hatch Rest + machines. Its been very reliable and good for using with small children. The customizable lights, sounds, and times are great for use over time as a child's sleep habits change. I really like all the adjustable features as it has been a tool that can grown with the kid, but I do not think it is perfect by any means.

Traveling with the Hatch Rest+ can be challenging because you need wifi to connect the Rest+ with your phone to run the programs. If you are traveling to a place with spotty wifi or connection challenges you are sort of screwed. Also, if you run the timed programs you can't make a change in the middle of the night, which can create a lot of problems if you need to make adjustments. The programs make you specify how long a particular light and color plays, rather than letting you select a time in the morning like a regular alarm clock. This sometimes create problems. Also, there is supposed to be a built in audio monitor, but it has never worked for me or anyone else I know who uses a Rest+.

  • The Hatch has totally changed my mornings (and nights, honestly). I fall asleep faster with the wind-down sounds, and waking up to gentle light instead of a blaring alarm is everything. It feels like such a small switch but makes a big difference in how I start my day! I also really love the red light at night. The only thing I wish we had is more alarm noises, or custom songs or something.

  • I have the Hatch Restore 1, and as a night-owl who CANNOT wake up for the life of me - this product is a game changer!! I love the customizable options for the sunrise alarm and the sunset sleep aid. I do wish that the Restore 2 options were available to me (morning moments!) - for the price I pay (product + app subscription), I think it's only fair. Docking points for price - both the actual product and the app subscription (which is almost necessary to get the full use of the alarm).

  • This! Has absolutely saved me when my OCD/Anxiety spiral and my insomnia tries to hit.

  • I absolutely LOVE my Hatch. It wakes me up so peacefully in the morning and has improved my morning routine infinitely!

  • We have the original tall hatch from 2019ish - it's still going strong! Kids love it, I love it.

  • I love my hatch. It has helped me so much waking up. I don't really use it to fall asleep. But there is nothing better than being woken up to a sunrise rather than an aggressive alarm going off. It also works great when you don't want a bright light on in the morning or at night. I'm only giving 4 stars because I HATE that some features are locked behind a monthly pay wall. It's ridiculous.

  • The Hatch Restore is a well-made product. I used the original (purchased in September 2020) for about a year and a half. I didn't have the best sleep hygiene at the time and was living in a studio apartment; a combination of factors led me to not use the machine as much as I would these days. I didn't experience a noticeable difference in my sleep, but again, I wasn't the best candidate for the product at the time. I'm glad to see they offer the Restore 2 in a few colors and a new style. The product is overall very sleek and aesthetic, and can be placed in nearly any room without being an eye sore or visual distraction. The app was easy to use, too.

  • Update: my regular Hatch developed an issue where it wasn’t turning off as easily. I emailed customer service and they said it was backend issue. Even though I’ve had it for a while, they sent me a brand new Hatch 2! Quite the upgrade and I’m super impressive with their customer service. I didn’t want to love a super expensive alarm clock but here I am loving it. I use it only as the morning alarm clock and it’s great, so much less anxiety inducing than using my phone and having an annoying sound + notifications pop up at 6am. I now keep my phone away from my bed and usually don’t touch it for the first hour I’m awake, it’s wonderful. It’s so nice I’ve started using an alarm clock on the weekends for the first time in my life!

I wish so many things weren’t dependent on the subscription. Give us some fun free stuff!

  • I am the WORST at waking up!!!!! I seriously would snooze my phone alarm without even walking up. I received Hatch as a gift and it was such a game changer. The sunrise alarm really slowly lifts me out of sleep and the soft sounds it can make to wake you up are so much better than the startling ones on your phone you get PTSD from. The winddown feature is also ideal and really helps me remove myself from any screens and gives me intentional time to read or journal. I cannot recommend this enough. I wish I could give it a 10. Before having Hatch I had horrible sleep hygiene but this has really improved it.
