OLIPOP
Experience
I've tried the Stawberry Vanilla, the Cherry Vanilla, the Root Beer, the Ginger Lemon and the Orange Squeeze. Of those the Orange Squeeze was my favorite because it reminded me of a very light Orange Julius. The other flavors I tried were fine but unremarkable and I rarely want to drink a whole can of this stuff.
Feedback
I find all the buzzwords around microbiome and digestive health to be irritating at best and some form of wellness-washing at worst. I'm a fan of probiotics, but this is not how that stuff works in the body. Just having some fermentation/"good bacteria" in a drink doesn't turn it into a carbonated version of vitamins. I am uncomfortable with the way this is marketed as a "healthier" version of classic sodas.
Washland
Experience
Easy to use and made my clothes clean. No real options for scent. Also, I used this as a switch from eco laundry pods, which offer a "small loads" option. With a small kid at home, we often have small loads to run, and I hate using a full detergent pod or sheet on a small load of laundry. With this I only had the one sheet option, which makes me feel like it would be better for someone without kids who is doing only full loads of laundry.
Feedback
I wish the sheet was perforated so I could use sections for small loads of laundry. Also, the storage box fell apart immediately, so it would be nice to have a more solid container to keep the sheets in.
Simply Gum
Experience
Tried mint and cinnamon flavors. I love chewing gum and liked the ingredients and the recyclable packaging.
Feedback
Pieces were small. I had to eat 2 at a time to feel like I was chewing anything. The texture was fine but the flavoring was awful. It tasted okay for about 30 seconds and then just faded into a weird sour cardboard taste. Ugh. If you chew gum for fresh breath, this is not a good option. The texture also deteriorated and I couldn't blow bubbles or anything.
Parade
Experience
Got a 3 pack of the undies to try. I really liked the colors and the sustainable part of the business. The items were very soft and comfortable and the colors were lovely.
Feedback
They have not been very durable. The colors started faded or shifting after several washes, even being washed in cold water in a delicates bag, and the waistband continually gets stuck folded over itself.
Cards Against Humanity
Experience
Originally got these when you could just print them off the internet for a pay-what-can amount. Eventually upgraded to an "fancy" deck and some expansions after the printed ones were destroyed from too much play. Have played this game all over the world with all sorts of people and it is always a racous, enjoyable time and you always learn more about the people you are playing with than you expect to.
Italic
Experience
I joined at the very beginning, when it was subscribers only, because I liked the business model and the promise of quality at at affordable price. They've since ditched the subscription model and expanded into a large range of goods including jewelry, home, travel, pets, and more. Everything I've purchased has been good quality, not amazing but good, and durable. I like the transparency of cost-to-create and how that becomes a purchase price. Even though I have yet to get any of the home or kitchen items I do appreciate the options and consider Italic a go-to when I need something basic that will last.
Feedback
The clothes are not remotely inclusive. Their XXL pretty much tops out at a 12-14 US, which leaves out huge swathes of the possible purchasers. Their visual advertising is also not inclusive and its starting to bother me, mostly seeing white incredibly skinny folks wearing neutral color clothing. Some awareness of the fact that humanity comes in difference shapes and sizes and colors would be appreciated. I'd also love more information about sustainability of materials.
Sโwell
Experience
Received a basic S'well water bottle in a Christmas stocking. Nice color. Clearly well made and durable.
Feedback
I don't like the lack of handle and the wide mouth.
OLAPLEX
Experience
At the recommendation of a hair stylist I tried No. 3 to strengthen hair. Didn't notice a difference.
Hatch
Experience
Have one of the Hatch Rest + machines. Its been very reliable and good for using with small children. The customizable lights, sounds, and times are great for use over time as a child's sleep habits change. I really like all the adjustable features as it has been a tool that can grown with the kid, but I do not think it is perfect by any means.
Feedback
Traveling with the Hatch Rest+ can be challenging because you need wifi to connect the Rest+ with your phone to run the programs. If you are traveling to a place with spotty wifi or connection challenges you are sort of screwed. Also, if you run the timed programs you can't make a change in the middle of the night, which can create a lot of problems if you need to make adjustments. The programs make you specify how long a particular light and color plays, rather than letting you select a time in the morning like a regular alarm clock. This sometimes create problems. Also, there is supposed to be a built in audio monitor, but it has never worked for me or anyone else I know who uses a Rest+.
Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams
Experience
Ordered some as a gift. The website was easy to use and there were so many choices. I liked that you could order for something to arrive ASAP, or for a specific date in the future. It made giving the ice cream as a gift much easier. The flavors were unusual and interesting. Some were really great and some were just okay, but they were all more exciting than what I could find in a local store.
