Fly by Jing delivers bold, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments that, according to reviews, elevate everything from eggs and noodles to dumplings—Zhong Sauce and the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp draw repeated praise for layered umami, balanced heat, and everyday usability. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: some find the chili crisp too oily, less crispy or milder than expected, with occasional smoky bitterness and jar leakage—plus comparisons to Lao Gan Ma or Momofuku on flavor and spice—and some mention inconsistent crunch and a need to stir.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
The chili crisp is…fine. But the Lao Gan Ma jar with the nice lady pictured on the label is the best in class traditional chili crisp. Go with Mama Teav’s for a more garlic-forward option. The Zhong sauce does slap though.
Really great flavors and nice crunch. The chili crunch can be used as a flavor enhancer. Basically don’t eat eggs without it!

Fly By Jing products are an absolute game-changer for anyone who loves bold, dynamic flavors. The Sichuan Chili Crisp is a standout—perfectly spicy, savory, and just the right amount of crunch to elevate any dish. Their Mala Spice Mix adds an addictive kick to everything from noodles to popcorn, and the Zong Sauce is a rich, umami-packed dream for dipping or drizzling. What I love most is their versatility and authenticity; every jar captures the essence of Sichuan cuisine with a modern twist. Fly By Jing truly makes cooking at home an exciting and flavorful adventure. Highly recommend!

Really good chili oil! I don’t like too much Sichuan peppercorns in my food and I found this to be the perfect amount. Some of that tingly feeling without it being too much. So far I’ve put it in eggs and I liked it a lot. Looking forward to trying some more recipes with it

Blown away by the flavor of this! Love the numbing effect of the Sichuan peppers and the unique taste of this - it's super addicting so watch out!
Excellent branding and a very solid product. This was my first intro to chili crisp and definitely got me hooked - I put it on everything now. Flavor and crunch is great. Not too spicy; the overall spice level is lower than other brands I've tried. I've only tried the basic chili crisp flavor though, so other flavors may vary. That being said, in terms of flavor I don't think the basic chili crisp they sell necessarily has a huge leg up on the run-of-the mill brands that I can find in my local grocery store. There's definitely a premium on the price for the cute branding. But, it's a cute product and very tasty, so definitely worth the price if you haven't tried chili crisp before, appreciate the well-designed packaging, or just can't find a more run-of-the-mill brand where you shop.
These are sooooo good. I like the spiciest flavor flavor best and I love to use on rice, dumplings, eggs, pizza, anything really! It has a nice mix of spice, numbing, and saltiness. I'd like to try the Zhong Sauce next.

High quality chili sauce. The flavor profile is complex, rich and earthy. I use this often. Lasts a long time.
I hoard spices and condiments like your great aunt hoards coupons. Fly By Jing is a staple in my collection, and I add it to dumplings, soups, stir fries, sauces, or just plain white rice. It brings a flavorful heat that rounds out a dish. It’s a little on the pricey side, but it’s clearly due to the quality of the product.
The It Girl of chili crisp. Spicy, flavorful, and SO versatile! I use it on rice, in stir fries, eggs, mix it with yogurt for a cooling and spicy condiment.

More flavors pls!
The sauces are all delicious, but the favorite is their classic Chili Crisp.

N/A - I have not tried the other products
Delicious. Amazing. All of the great descriptors. The Zhong Sauce is by far my favorite - I could put that on anything. Also really loved their dumplings - the pork soup dumplings and the mushroom dumplings were 10/10. Super easy to cook up and delicious (so they make the perfect snack). Also tried the hot pot starter, which was pretty solid. Not a big fan of peppercorns in my sauces, but it did not detract from how yummy (and spicy) Fly by Jing's was.
The brand and product are really high quality

Agree with Hannah. The oil got everywhere.

I enjoyed the chili crisp, both mild and spicy versions. But I don't understand the price on these, it's much more expensive than any of the chili crisps you can get at an asian grocery store. The taste isn't radically better than the more 'classic' chili brands so I haven't purchased again after the first time.
Love the crunch on these
I love their chili oil so much! I pair it on eggs for breakfast or even just on veggie bowls and tacos. It's super versatile and I think goes well with a lot of different dishes and flavors. I like that you can just drip the oil if you don't want a crunch too.
I just tried the Fly by Jing Spicy Duo, and it's a total game changer for my taste buds. If you love adding a flavorful kick to your meals, this is it! The Sichuan Chili Crisp and Zhong Sauce combo brings the perfect balance of heat and bold umami that elevates anything from noodles to veggies. Trust me, once you try these spicy gems, you'll be hooked like I am!
I love fly by jing products! personally my fave is the dumpling sauce because it's vinegary, salty, sweet, and incredibly flavorful. my only issue is the price; as someone who is used to getting chili oil from 99 ranch or h mart, this is expensive. but also i pay the price for convenience and taste! a great introduction to chili oil for anyone who is a bit nervous to dive right into the lao gan ma world. ps the jars are a bit hard to open so i never fully close them
