Reviews mention

  • Layered, umami-rich flavor profile
  • Versatile, crowd-pleasing condiment
  • Aromatic, complex sichuan notes
  • Standout zhong sauce favorite
  • Oil-forward, leaky packaging
  • Inconsistent crunch texture
  • Milder-than-expected spice
  • Occasional smoky, bitter notes

Fly by Jing delivers bold, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments that, according to reviews, elevate everything from eggs and noodles to dumplings—Zhong Sauce and the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp draw repeated praise for layered umami, balanced heat, and everyday usability. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: some find the chili crisp too oily, less crispy or milder than expected, with occasional smoky bitterness and jar leakage—plus comparisons to Lao Gan Ma or Momofuku on flavor and spice—and some mention inconsistent crunch and a need to stir.

  • Love the Sichuan chili crisps!!! It sounds crazy but it also works on the odd mixes - like ice cream or oatmeal. The taste is so distinctive and also has flavor rather than just heat. Tastes so great! The dumplings didn't work out for me - defrosted by the time it arrived but the team was very nice about it and provided a refund. So good!

Not sure why, but my container always ends up with oil around the outside. It's not like I shake the bottle, but I always end up with a ring of oil on the table. Maybe there is a different container design?

  • The best chili crisp I have ever had! It has the perfect balance of flavors and heat! It is on the pricier side but the quality and flavor are definitely worth it!

Packaging in on point and the flavor can’t be beat!

  • Is it wrong that I want to drink Zhong sauce? I'm sure it has dozens of fantastic uses, I only use it for one - to make chicken tolerable. With Zhong sauce, I actually don't mind chicken, so mission accomplished. That is the only FBJ product I've tried. I always order direct, there have been a couple of times when shipping has been delayed but they've been communicative about it.

  • Absolutely love every product I've tried!! The frozen dumplings and all of the sauces/ spices are simply *chefs kiss* I'm on my second can of the chili crisp.

  • Delicious. I know people RAVE about it, but I'm not sure it's that much different than the chili crisp I get at whole foods.

  • So good, I love the Zhong Sauce and their new vinaigrette! One of my favorite chili-crisps.

    The price boy oh boy…

  • Boy oh boy do I love this chili crisp! We make rice bowls with dumplings almost once a week and this is a staple in our home. It's got the perfect kick and crunch but isn't overpowering for other flavors to shine still. I will say, the only thing keeping me from giving it a full 5/5 is that the product is a little pricy. I find the Trader Joes version to be a little less impressive, but the price is much better. Either way you can't go wrong.

  • Just ok. I love the mission and branding but didn’t find it to be particularly flavorful: was a little bit bland. I was expecting some kick.

  • Fan of the brand and founder. Packaging and marketing is on point. Works well as a gift, especially for folks who don't have easy access to Chinese sauces.

Price is a bit high, especially when there are similar products available for a lot less at local Asian grocery stores.

  • I love Laoganma chili crisp. As in: I wake up in the morning dreaming about cooking egg fried rice so I can top with chili crisp. So of course when Fly by Jing landed in my Insta feed I had to try it. And it was fine. I'd probably like it if I'd never tried the OG but this was less spicy, less numbing, less savory, and less salty. And much more oil and less crisp.

Turn the flavor up to 11. BAM!

  • There are some interesting flavors with this brand! So far, I have noticed that just a little bit is needed to give a kick to an item. I have tried a few of the different sauces. I am noticing they are being sold in more and more places now.

  • Good chili crisp! I have tried several varieties and they all hit. It IS pricier than other chili crisps on the market, but the quality is definitely there and they offer a wide array of products that feel fresh.

  • An incredible small business owned by a woman and immigrant. Jing pays such close attention to ingredient quality and is so intentional about her flavors and products; she's also been a great thought leader in this space, speaking out about the impact of tariffs. Love to support them!

  • Enjoyed using the sichuan chili crisp on a variety of dishes and foods. Dynamic crunch and bold spice flavor, it's not too intense, but adds a nice kick to western and eastern dishes. I like it with some vegetables or to mix with dumplings and rice dishes.
