I bought this for my now mother in law as a present a few years ago! I love the look and branding of The Caker, I feel the kits make gorgeous gifts and feel so luxurious. The cake itself was fine!

I received the spiced carrot cake, which I was really excited about because we love spice cake in our house. The product was well-packaged with very clear, well-written instructions that were easy to follow. I didn't have an 8-inch round cake pan so I used a loaf pan and I think it still came out really well. I think if I made it again, I would like to add some raisins but overall, the cake flavor was really nice. My only critique was that the cake was a little dry and the icing was very sweet but I would like to try other flavors from The Caker in the future. I think this product would also be a fun gift to send to any friends who like baking.

Honestly, my husband is the baker in the fam, and I am the consumer, but we spent a Sunday afternoon baking the cake together and enjoyed ourselves! The cake was delicious, and moist, and came together easily. The ingredients tasted high quality, and the unboxing was fun. I am almost embarrassed to say we cut the cake into quarters and just ate it that way because a small slice wasn't going to cut it. The price is a bit steep for an everyday cake but I think it makes for a great "specialty" cake for a birthday, mother's day, etc!

I just made this cake for my birthday party and it was a MASSIVE hit!! Didn’t take long to prepare, tasted delicious, and kept well in the fridge. That said, the price point without a Thingtesting discount is a bit high for a casual purchase. The packaging is beautiful, but it’s a lot for a cake mix, and if the price comes from the cost of packaging I think it would be a better idea for the brand to cut the excessive packaging to make the mix more widely accessible.

A delightful experience from start to finish! The packaging is gorgeous, the directions are easy and clear, and the cake was perfect. I love the product idea, because I'm either buying boxed cake mixes that are so-so or I'm bending over backwards and using every bowl/pan/utensil in the kitchen to attempt a cake from scratch. The Caker provides the ease of boxed and the quality of scratch.

I always thought cake mixes are a lazy shortcut and never makes for as tasty cakes, but this one proved me so wrong. The carrot cake was moist, and the salted caramel + raisin combo was incredible. Would 100% recommend, and I'm really excited to try other mixes from The Caker now. My only feedback/what I'd do differently: There were still a lot of ingredients that I had to purchase in addition to a fairly expensive cake mix! I wish the salted caramel would have been a bit easier to decorate with... maybe next time I'll make sure to run it under warm water or something before decorating... in hopes of a better looking cake ;)

I love everything about this brand! My mom sent me a couple boxes of the Flourless Dark Chocolate Gold Leaf for my birthday this year. The thought that went into this product is so special. It includes everything you need to make and beautifully decorate the cake (minus the eggs and butter). The branding is edgy and cool~ Jordan Randel > Betty Crocker

Made this cake for our 4th of july party and i got so many compliments!!! many were surprised to hear it was from a box cake mix. it was really simple & delicious. i also fell in love with pattern i ended up doing with the caramel :)

While carrot cake is never a cake flavor I crave, I am not against eating it whenever it is freely given out to me. Nevertheless, I was super excited to participate in a Thingdrop for a carrot cake mix with The Caker since I had heard about this brand before and everything they created looked so fancy yet delicious! I was excited to try this cake but there was a problem... I live alone and there is no way I could finish a cake by myself. Thankfully I was able to get a group together that was just as eager as me to try out this fancy dessert. This mix was not ready to make straight out of the box- it required a few ingredients from the grocery store and some I already had. I wasn't totally against going out and buying a few ingredients, as I knew having a few fresh items would make this much better than any mix that only required eggs and oil. The hardest part of making this cake was definitely grating the carrots. It was an arm workout! But everything mixed together well and it baked perfectly in only 30 minutes. Waiting for it to cool was a struggle as we were all anxious to try the cake. I am happy to report that this cake mix did not disappoint! Everyone really liked it. It was nice, moist, and not too sweet for it to be overwhelming. Even the currants were not too distracting, which I find to usually be the case with any baked good that has raisins. We even got it to look pretty cute! For a carrot cake, I was very happy with the results. Now normally, I would give a product like this 4 out of 5 stars because of its pretty insane price point. 90% of cake mixes seem to be under $5, with the majority even being $2 or less! So $25 for a cake mix is a huge ask. But when I did some research into the company, I saw that they cannot lower the price of the product without sacrificing its quality. They source the best ingredients for these mixes, and it shows in the results. For a luxury cake that is easy to make that might be made only on special occasions, I feel this price is fair. With that being said, this is definitely an excellent gift for someone that loves to bake!

This cake was incredibly yummy. Our house has a strict "no raisin" policy so I was little concerned when the currants were incorporated into the dry mix. BUT the currants were perfect in the cake and not the abomination raisins are. The cake was super easy to make and the directions were thorough and made the process foolproof. My husband absolutely adored the flavors. I will definitely be buying more mixes from The Caker.

I purchased the Spiced Carrot Cake Kit and it was a hit--my husband loved it! It's a pretty dense and sticky version of carrot cake, but very moist and not too sweet. I added toasted walnuts to the cake to give it a bit of crunch, and next time, I will add a few raisins because why not? I loved how easy it was to follow the instruction card provided and appreciated the non-stick pan liner that was provided. This cake mix is the best of both worlds--tasted homemade but was easy to make. The only negative thing I will say is that I didn't love the frosting, but I think that just boils down to personal preference. I can't wait to try her Banana Cinnamon Cake Kit.

Delicious! I’ve tried 3 of The Caker’s mixes before, and the new carrot cake flavor did not disappoint. It truly does not taste like a traditional box cake and people were surprised that I didn’t make it from scratch. I was a little confused when pouring the batter into the pan because it didn’t seem like there was enough; just be aware that this is a thin cake that doesn’t rise much, mine came out about 1-1.5” tall. But I believe it was meant to be this way, and it was still beautiful and tasted amazing. I saved it for a baby shower that I hosted today and got plenty of compliments on the cake. :) It was also incredibly easy to make, everyone has oil and eggs in their fridge and I always have carrots so I didn’t need to go out of my way for anything.

Delicious! I'm a pretty amateur baker, but I had an easy and fun time baking the Spiced Carrot Cake. Super simple instructions, and it makes sense that I need to supply the carrots, cream cheese, eggs, and oil (fresh is best). Traded less labor for a higher cost and it was worth it.

I tried the Spiced Carrot Cake. Very easy to make the cake and really awesome packaging! You can definitely tell that this is a more luxurious cake mix from the look alone. Loved that fresh ingredients are still incorporated into this particular mix with the carrots and the cream cheese. The cake was dense and pretty moist with a slight crust on the outside. The cream cheese frosting was great, but I feel like it was a small cream cheese to cake ratio. I know the salted caramel was meant to elevate the cake slightly, but I think I preferred the flavor without the caramel drizzle on top. I wound up scraping off the salted caramel from my slice. Overall the cake is good, but the mix is pretty expensive.

I had a nice time making the Caker’s Carrot Cake mix on a lazy Sunday. Even after factoring in the extra prep steps, like grating carrots, I felt like it was so easy and had a high payoff! The finished product tasted homemade and was the perfect size for a small get-together. I’m not sure I’d pay full price for this mix, since it is quite pricey. I also didn’t think that the caramel topping added a lot in terms of flavor, and I struggled to make a pretty pattern because I cut the corner of the bag bigger than I meant to. But all in all, I enjoyed making and eating this cake!

I'm a bit torn about it. I'd say 3.5 rounded up to 4. The price is just insane for what you get, and like all these fancy packaged things, I wonder how much of the price goes to the packaging alone. The cake is really tasty, but there's a bunch of stuff you have to add (cream cheese, oil, grated carrots, etc). It makes you realize all they've really provided is some flour, some spices, sugar, and caramel sauce. And if you add everything up, you've probably spent as much or more than a pretty fancy cake-shop priced cake! And though the cake is tasty, it's not SO tasty where I was blown away from any good carrot cake I've had before.

This cake was a great elevated take on the box mixes you'd use as a kid — grating the carrots required a bit more work than a standard box mix, but that's what makes it fresh! The price is a bit steep for the mix as well as the ingredients you need to buy outside of that, making it similarly priced to a cake you'd buy from a bakery. The cake itself is a perfect texture and the cream cheese frosting is good, but doesn't have the exact flavor of a standard cream cheese frosting for some reason. Overall it was a fun bake and a great result!

I purchased the spiced carrot cake box mix and it was delicious. The packaging and directions were motivating and I enjoyed making the cake. The only downfall is the price. I still had to purchase carrots, oil, and eggs. For the icing, I purchased cream cheese.

I loved baking with The Caker kit, it was so cute, plus such a simple process. The kit had all the dry ingredients, so all I needed to do was grate a few carrots, measure some oil, and voilà. Plus, it was DELICIOUS. I love to bake and could have made the cake without the help of The Caker, but I enjoyed this process just as much, plus it made clean-up so simple.

The Caker cakes are delectable, sophisticated, and so easy to make! This is not your average cake out of the box. I've baked 5 cakes (Coconut Raspberry Lime, Lemon Strawberry Poppy Seed, Banana Cinnamon, Espresso Dark Chocolate, & Graza Olive Oil Cake) and they have all turned out incredible. Guests give me much more credit than I deserve.
