Nespresso earns strong reviews for delivering fast, consistently crema-topped coffee and espresso at home, with sleek machines and abundant pod variety, but it divides on taste versus true café espresso and draws criticism for loud brewing, pricey and proprietary pods (especially Vertuo), occasional jams and reliability issues, and mixed sustainability execution. The brand is good if convenience, ease, and a tidy setup matter; purists and those sensitive to noise, heat retention, or locked-in ecosystems may be disappointed.

I've had my little nespresso 42 years and honestly, I don't know how I got by without it before. It's not coffee shop level espresso, but for a home sspresso machine it's amazing. I like the ability to make a single small cup of regular or decaf any time of day, without a hassle.

Love my Nespresso machine. I have the original from 5 years ago and have never had a problem with it. Saves me so much money being able to make a latte at home. Love that other companies now make the pods, so that they are easier to find.
I enjoy my Nespresso coffee maker however, my Nespresso froth broke within two weeks of me having it and their customer service is absolutely horrible. They promised to send me a new one over and over again till I finally just gave up. It’s been over a year and I still have never received my that Nespresso had promised they would send me.
I have both lines, the vertuo, and the original pods, and it's perfect. It's super helpful if you're go go go, and it doesn't make a mess. You don't have to clean/change the coffee filter, or make sure to turn the machine off and the coffee is burnt. Don't have to worry about measuring coffee ratio to water. It just makes things simple, and clean. Pods are expensive, but it's the price you're willing to pay for comfort.
Everyday 2x a day!
Works pretty well, just obviously wish they had better solutions to the pod environmental dilemma. I have the one that's a collab with De'Longhi and given the price tag it doesn't work as well as it should.
I’m a huge coffee snob. I love to select the perfect roast, grind them up myself, and find the best way to brew a good cup. It’s a time consuming process, and to be honest, I don’t have 30 minutes each morning to calculate water temperature and grind size before I commute to work. I’ve recently started using Nespresso and I’ve been really been surprised at the quality. The coffee isn’t watery and tastes great. I haven’t really tasted a difference between pods unless it’s a totally different flavor (they offer things like peppermint and hazelnut) but it’s a good cup of coffee with little time and effort.
I love my little machine. I wish they sold teas too - maybe also hot chocolate.
Honestly, I get the convenience of the "pod coffee" craze, but coffee should be sipped from local distributors. I give Nespresso 3 stars because they have a great recycling program, and a decent cuppa for something that is encased in aluminum for a period of time. They're easy to use, and they'll deliver some caffeine to your system.
Over the years I've bought a couple of these for my mom, and while I haven't been personally using these on a daily basis, I've still tasted at least 30 cups of Nespresso. I'm sure there might be one capsule that I'd like, but with so many options I have yet to find one that doesn't taste like asphalt. But you don't get a Nespresso machine for the taste, you get it for the convenience and a simple interface, and there the machine does what is promised. The first machine lasted 3 years before it broke, and I think the second one is nearing the 3-year mark as well soon – time will tell how long this one will last.
Nespresso makes top-notch quality instant coffee/espresso. The pods are recyclable which I love. The coffee pods do not contain plastic which is health-conscious compared to the keurig cups which leach micro plastics into your drink when you brew hot water through them. I would give Nespresso 5 stars if they were at a more affordable price-point, but each cup comes out to around a dollar which is pricey in my opinion. This coffee tastes bold, but also comes out creamy on top and it is to die for! It saves the hassle that comes with the cleaning up/brewing process if you used a regular espresso machine.
My Nespresso machine was a bit of an impulse purchase while it was on sale. It was easy enough to use and to clean. The coffee was nice, but the pods can be expensive. I found I defaulted back to my instant coffee routine because it was quicker, cheaper and more accessible, but each to their own. Still a good machine if you're after a more barista style coffee at home.
We had their Vertuo coffee machine, and it was great when we had it but did become a bit of a hassle to only use Nespresso pods. They do have a great pod recycling program but was only available in a few Nespresso locations. For us because we didn't live close to the store we were unable to take advantage of their recycling program. Coffee-wise the taste was good. It was nice you got to try a few in store before committing to a whole pack of them. While still cheaper than buying coffee outside, the pricing of the pods aren't as competitive as some of their competition.
Decent coffee machine
My Nespresso makes my life easier, I do still sometimes like making my espresso over the stove when I have time but this make it more time efficient when going to work and I love the creaminess of it! My partner will definitely agree that I have been saving money with my Nespresso rather than going to a coffee shop. It takes a moment to perfect your coffee but you’ll get there if you’re a newbie!!

We have a Nespresso at our office and it looks great and is super convenient. Personally, I do not love the way the coffee tastes, but it's great in a pinch!
I own a nespresso vertuo line (use the small cone-like pods, not the half dome ones), not sure of the model name but it comes with a milk frother. Most days I'm too lazy to actually use and clean the milk frother, and make my latte by dumping milk straight from the container into my mug 😆 so, I don't recommend purchasing the machine with the extra frother unless you specifically like the taste of steamed milk and are okay with extra daily cleaning for the machine. My priority is efficiency, so other than the milk feature, this machine is perfect for me! Some downsides, it's rather loud in the morning if others are sleeping so better for houses/apartments where the kitchen is further away from bedrooms if you live with others. The coffee itself, no complaints and I feel it is much higher quality than instant coffee powders. No complaints on the taste, and on top of it's in-house line of coffee pods, Nespresso has partnerships to make pods with Peet's and Starbucks if you like the taste of those.
I am not a morning person but my Nespresso makes the mornings better. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is so expensive (fun fact - the pods are half the price in Germany where my sister lives....) and that my machine has broke more than once. Luckily, I purchased it at Costco and they are amazing at taking returns.
I love my Nespresso machine - it allows me to enjoy a consistently tasty and somewhat luxurious coffee experience at home. I have the original Pixie machine and purchased it at half its current price five years ago and would do it again, even at the current price. I've never had any trouble with the machine itself and together with the separate milk foamer I really have all I need for my morning coffee. I've tried a range of compatible capsules too, but end up buying the original capsules because they do taste best. Is it as good as a portafilter machine? No. Is it as cheap as a stovetop bialetti? Obviously not. But neither of it is really what you're aiming for with a Nespresso.

I got a free Nespresso original machine from a friend when she moved a few years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I passed the original machine onto a friend, and I now have the Vertuo pop (paid for by me). I live alone, so it’s really convenient to be able to just make one cup of coffee when I want it rather than trying to make a tiny pot. I love the variety of roasts and flavours, and that the pods are fully recyclable by Nespresso. The grounds can be composted and aluminum is one of the very products that is truly able to be recycled into new aluminum products. My favourite things about Nespresso is their incredible promotion system. I got my machine for $20 when I bought $150 in pods. It worked out the same price as the machine was originally, but I got roughly four months of coffee with it. I’ve also gotten really nice gifts with my purchases: travel mugs, espresso cups, chocolates, cookies, ice cube trays, and an apron (to name just a few!). I usually wait until they had a gift promotion to order, so it never feels like I’m buying extra just to get the gift.
