MERIT reviews and discussion

Reviews mention

  • Creamy, blendable complexion stick
  • Lightweight, skin-like formulas
  • Elegant, minimalist packaging
  • Sensitive-skin friendly formulations
  • Fragile, finicky component packaging
  • Sheer, quickly fading pigments
  • Dryness and creasing on texture
  • Inconsistent shade matching accuracy

MERIT earns strong reviews as a minimalist, “your-skin-but-better” line that blends easily, flatters a natural look, and suits sensitive skin, with standouts like the Minimalist Complexion Stick, Flush Balm blushes, Day Glow highlighter, Bronze Balm, Clean Lash mascara, and Shade Slick lip oils. Reviews also flag weaknesses: color products that fade quickly, sheer coverage that won’t satisfy full-coverage users, packaging issues (sticks breaking, messy pumps, mascara cap stickiness), occasional dryness/creasing on textured or dry skin, and inconsistent shade matches for some complexions.

  • The best part of the products is the brown corduroy clutch bag it comes in. I tried the blush and the color was great. Definitely is a strong pigment. Just didn’t rub in so well.

  • Have been impressed with their colors and applications. everything I have just glides perfectly onto my skin and the colors are just perfect. Nothing I tried and not liked yet. It's definitely pricey.

  • I enjoy the merit blush. The colors are soft and warm and sits well on the skin.

  • the minimalist perfecting stick is my go-to for foundation (beige) and contour (sepia) because they melt into the skin and provide a natural finish. the coverage is buildable and works as a concealer on dark spots/redness. A MOMENT FOR THE PACKAGING. that's all.

  • I'm only shopping clean beauty brands these days, and Merit is one of my favorites. I've never been a lipstick wearer because it's a pain to keep up with throughout the day. I tended to get tinted lip balms because they were moisturizing and easy to apply. Merit's signature lipstick made me into a lipstick person! Great formula that is a easy to apply, moisturizing and comfortable to wear. I wouldn't call it long lasting, but the way that it wears off is flattering -- like a faint stain. They have a simple line with not a lot of colors to choose from, which is pretty limiting in ways and perhaps my only complaint. They also make a great tubing mascara that doesn't irritate sensitive eyes, and washes off with warm water.

  • I've tried their lipstick and they are so good. The texture and pigment are great. I already ordered more...

  • Have really liked every product that I have tried from the brand! Just purchased the brush no.1 to go along with my bronzer. I am looking forward to trying more products

  • I REALLY like the blush and I get a ton of complements when I wear it. I find it easy to use. I also have had a great experience with the highlighter. The mascara I found to be good, not great. But I would wholeheartedly recommend the blush and highlighter, no question.

  • Absolutely love the bronzer. I got the shade "Clay" and its really lightweight and non-clogging for my pores in the summertime. Packaging feels very high quality and it's super blendable and dewey. Need to try all of their other products!

  • I've used Clean Lash, Brown 1980, Brush No. 1, The Minimalist, and The Shade Stick. They've replaced all of my Glossier products, as they just feel like a step up for comparable prices. Packaging and branding is minimal too.

The Minimalist (concealer/foundation replacement) is a bit touch to blend with the brush unless you've applied moisturizer underneath.

  • First time trying these products - I appreciated the free bag with my first order and enjoyed my products, especialy the foundation brush which was great quality and a versatile addition to my makeup bag. I look forward to trying the SPF tinted moisturizer over the coming weeks.

  • Basically the only makeup I wear. Provides the right amount of coverage and has nice packaging while maintaining a minimal, no makeup makeup vibe. Love the blush and the complexion stick, plus the bag!

  • I'm incredibly minimalist when it comes to makeup - my favorite part about this brand is that they're making no-nonsense, cut to the chase, reach-for-everyday items that you can't not have in your makeup bag. Their packaging is simple and sophisticated. Prices are a little higher than I'd like to spend on makeup but the quality keeps me trusting what I'm putting on my face, which makes it worth it.

  • Obsessed. Have tried their lipstick, lip oil, mascara, foundation stick, and perfume. They are some of the best on the market. Pigment and texture of lip products are great, long lasting, glides on easily. Mascara is great for lengthening and giving a natural finish -- if you're looking for a TON of extra definition, this might not be for you. The foundation stick is also a winner, shade range is pretty impressive and the match was quite good. The texture of the foundation wasn't too sticky or thick, and it blended very easily with their makeup brush. Their Retrospect perfume is one of the most unique scents I've come across, elegant and complex notes. Definitely a new favorite brand, and it's also a great gift idea, especially their bundles.

  • I got the mascara and I have absolutely loved it! My eyes water a lot and this doesn’t move at all! I would definitely recommend it.

  • I am on my third minimalist stick, has a really natural finish I love and blends super nice. Their bronzer is very light and natural as well, I use it for both contouring and bronzing. obsessed

  • I'm happy to jump onto the Merit train – the internet is full of Merit ads right now but I actually loved the Merit products I used. It's all very lightweight and beginner friendly, perfect for someone who likes having a simple, but elegant getting ready routine. Also, the lippie in Marrakech is a staple in my bag now!
