  • Nostalgic, evocative fragrances
  • Clean, minimalist packaging
  • Giftable, thoughtful concept
  • Reusable, sturdy glass vessels
  • Inconsistent scent accuracy
  • Soot-prone, messy burns
  • Occasionally weak fragrance throw
  • Overly strong, cloying notes

Homesick earns mixed reviews: the brand delights many with nostalgic, giftable scents and clean, minimalist packaging, but polarizing fragrances, inconsistent throw, and soot-prone burns raise doubts about quality. Reviews praise evocative options like Los Angeles, New York City, Houston, and Texas, yet note frequent “hit-or-miss” accuracy to locations, occasional headaches from intensity, faint longevity for some, and glass blackening that hinders reuse.

  • I find Homesick's candles VERY hit or miss. Some smell like nothing to me, some smell absolutely terrible to me, and the large majority just leave me underwhelmed. They're aesthetically pleasing and make for a cool gift I guess, but I never actually want to burn them in my own house. Bummer because I REALLY want to like this brand.

  • I got the Iowa candle as a gift when I moved away to California and I was very pleasantly surprised. It smells sweet and exactly perfect, although far from the pig-farming central smell of Iowa; more reminiscent of crunch berry day in Cedar Rapids (iykyk). I can't wait to expand my collection! I haven't burnt my candle so I can't speak to any of the burn times or how it burns but the smell stays and they are gorgeous!

  • cute candle and looks nice however once you actually burn the candle it is not long lasting. Only a nice candle if you want it to look nice

  • Fun concept. admitedly I have been so curious yet too scared to try my hometown of NYC ha

  • pro: the smell is amazing - and the CITY sticker is very premium cons: i couldn't reutilize the glass because it became black / burned so I had to through it away - I was thinking about reusing it to put some flowers or my make up brushed but impossible

  • Purchased for other people; it's a cute idea, but not very inclusive. The collaborations are interesting - Harry Potter, Elf, the MLB. Scent is subjective, so it's hard to please everyone. Cool idea though.

  • I love the sentiment of this brand but the scents are pretty artificial/overwhelming.

    Product formulation/more subtle scent offerings.

  • People love these candles, and they're great for gifts. If you like strong candles, they're worth considering.

I'm someone who tries to purchase mild scents if I do. These are fairly strong for me, and I wouldn't recommend them if you're looking for the best scents on the market.

  • My apartment scent for the past four years has been primarily Homesick's New York City fragrance. I have it in all three of the available forms: candle, reed diffuser, and PURA. I consistently get compliments on it. I have honestly not even sampled many of their other scents because I find it difficult to believe that this one can be topped. I am a fan! In general, the candles are a great size, and make for nice gifts. If handled correctly (following candle best practices like trimming the wicks and extinguishing correctly), they produce little smoke. Pro tip: the glasses are awesome for iced lattes after burning through the candles. Just boil some water and pour it in your depleted candle, let it cool, and remove the wax puck. I now have a small collection of the glasses in my kitchen. :)

  • Such a lovely gift, really reminded me of home!

Not sure if the wax is soy?

  • Long-lasting, nostalgic candles that make wonderful gifts! I like sending these for small celebrations and quick “thinking of you” gifts and they’re always a hit

  • I really loved the valentines candle I got from this company. It was not overly scented like so many candles. I have gifted some of these to my friends now.

  • I bought this to add to a gift basket I was making for a friend, because I wanted a specific state that had special meaning to her. The candle itself was fine and the scent was pretty standard, but I feel like this brand is definitely overhyped and not worth the price. I would so much rather support other small businesses who are making really cool scents and using more natural ingredients.

  • Los Angeles all day every day! I love a good glass candle. Definitely a one time purchase and would love to receive it as a gift!

  • I had the los angeles candle and while I liked the packaging, didn't love the smell too much. It felt too synthetic and fragency for me.

  • Smells great and lasts so long. Cute for gifts and worth the price.

  • Love these candles! The smells are so distinct, yet burn so well and aren't too overpowering in a space. I really like the descriptions of the places and appreciate the diversity of cities they are adding.

  • I like my San Francisco candle. It smells incredible, and I like the look. When you get to the bottom of your candle, soot will build up on the walls of the glass, which is not ideal but understandable.

  • I recently noticed a change that has me somewhat disappointed—specifically, the strength of their scents. In the past, Homesick Candles filled my space with vibrant, evocative aromas that perfectly mirrored their descriptions. Whether it was the crisp, chilly air of a winter's night or the warm, inviting scent of a cozy cabin, each candle seemed to capture its intended vibe effortlessly. Unfortunately, with the most recent batch I've purchased, the scents seem to be significantly less potent. For instance, I recently bought their "Beach Cottage" scent, which used to transform my living room into a serene coastal retreat. This time, however, the scent was so faint that it was barely noticeable unless I was standing right next to the candle. Similarly, the "Paris" candle, which once filled my space with the fragrant notes of café au lait and freshly baked croissants, now offers only a subtle hint of its former glory.

  • I like the simplicity of the candles and think they make for a super cute, easy gift for so many occasions; housewarming party, goodbye gift, mother's day... pair it with a cute lighter or some flowers and you're golden.
