Homesick earns mixed reviews: the brand delights many with nostalgic, giftable scents and clean, minimalist packaging, but polarizing fragrances, inconsistent throw, and soot-prone burns raise doubts about quality. Reviews praise evocative options like Los Angeles, New York City, Houston, and Texas, yet note frequent “hit-or-miss” accuracy to locations, occasional headaches from intensity, faint longevity for some, and glass blackening that hinders reuse.

I bought my first Homesick candle as a gift recently and have enjoyed it more than I thought. It was a bit pricey so I had high expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. Even though the candle is just a label on a candle, the scent is really great. Definitely something I will keep in the back of my mind for gifts in the future, but not sure if I will buy one for myself. I like that they have special edition scents - I got the Hogwarts house for my partner and he loved it.

A bit pricey.

I love the chic simple packaging of Homesick candles and the natural wax. I bought the Australia one and the Toronto one as gifts for friends (the location inspired scents make them great for gifts). The Australia one smelled fantastic, but the Toronto one was a bit weird. Wanting to get the White Elephant scent for the next family holiday.

These candles are a bit on the expensive side, but they have a fairly long burn time to balance it out. I also wish they had more province options (and cheaper shipping) for Canada.
I got one as a present and the scent was... not it. It was like a bitter fresh cut grass. Lit it once and never again. Kept it because of the sentiment. I went online to browse other cities/states, but the price didn't justify it.
Run of the mill scents wrapped in a genius marketing jar. The scents have strong throws but are a little cloying (like Yankee Candle or another common candle maker). The scents rarely correlate to the cities imho, but these are still great gifts if you don't know what to buy.
A solid, well-made candle. The scents are lovely and the burn is clean.
These candles are the best present. They always smell very good, maybe not exact what the name of the candle is (as to be expected) but they smell good none the less. I haven't had any issues with them burning weird, they always have a good burn. And when they are finished you can use them as a pen holder, drink glass, anything really.

I understand the niche of the smell being "connecitcut" "nyc" what have you, but I've never really had a smell match the name personally.
Purchased the New Orleans candle - great smelling candle, but doesn't give me a "New Orleans: vibe at all. Nice branding, however the shape of the glass makes it hard to re-light with a standard lighter after the candle has burnt through -- I have smoke marks all around the top of the glass now.
A bit pricey but the scents are great. They last quiet awhile and I have received compliments from friends.

i love these candles and constantly am giving them as gifts because they always do so well!! I cannot get over how great they are
I got the Pennsylvania one and all I can say is that the smell is not it. Syrupy- maple vibes, not my personal preference.
I was gifted the SoCal sent and it truly smells like public bathroom soap. Everyone around me agreed. I really liked the option to customize a message on the back and I really appreciated the sentiment that the candle carries, but again, what good is a candle if it smells like shit.

I think I didn’t like my scent that I picked so I didn’t like to burn it. However as a candle these are extremely fragrant and the spillage is great. Even without it burning I you could smell it in the room.

Better descriptions for some scents
These are truly the best housewarming / send-off gift for a co-worker, friend or family member. I have the NYC, Iowa and LA candles -- the LA one is my favorite smelling one. The other two are a little fainter.

Love that they use natural soy wax blend with 100% organic cotton wicks but truly had no idea until I checked the website --- definitely should promote that more. I'd also love to see more colors!
i love the seattle candle it sums up what seattle is known for pretty well
I've ordered or been gifted several candles and reed diffusers from here (Winter Mantle, Ski Resort, Seattle, San Francisco, Beach Cottage, The Nutcracker). The packaging is clean and each candle can be used as an iced coffee cup (they're the same glass vessels as what many coffee shops use for iced lattes). The scents aren't strong but have good throw so make wonderful background scents to set an atmosphere.

This is my favorite candle brand because the candles smell great - at least the ones I've had, they have a huge selection so I'm sure some are misses - and are subtle in a way that sets a mood but doesn't cause nose fatigue or stir up headaches. I did buy most of these when Homesick sold at their cheaper prices (candles are $38 each now) so I would recommend buying on sale or in bulk. The candles last for a long time, especially if they're on rotation, and I've never had major issues with tunneling (which can be fixed with some tin foil anyway). On the whole these are pricier but I especially love the Christmas / holiday scents and have amassed a solid cup collection for a home coffee bar, so it's two-in-one!

I like the personalization and different themes (cities, events, etc.) of these candles which make them very giftable. The scent of the burning candle is not very strong. For everyday use, I would opt for different candle brands. The price point and added shipping cost are a bit of a barrier for me to invest in these candles.
Smell great, sleek look, fun gifts

These make great gifts. Unique pleasent smells. They are not overpowering and very nice. They also last a long time. After mine was done, I cleaned the jar and now use it for bobby pins.

Idk these are very hit or miss. I ordered Texas (from there) and New York (live here). Texas smelled like a wet cigarette, so I quickly gave that one away. New York is fine...I was recently gifted a huge version of it, so I burn it all the time, and it's just sort of blah.

Try to be less Yankee Candle and more Replica.
