Reviews mention

  • Iconic, durable boat & tote bags
  • Warm, weatherproof bean boots
  • Plush, comfortable moccasin slippers
  • Timeless, reliable heritage styling
  • Stiff, heavy canvas totes
  • Limited interior bag organization
  • Occasionally inconsistent slipper durability
  • Classic, less modern apparel designs

LL Bean earns strong reviews as a reliable, high-quality heritage brand whose products—especially Boat & Tote bags, Bean Boots, and Wicked Good slippers—perform and last for years, often decades. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some canvas totes are heavy and lack compartments, slippers and certain clothing can wear out or run large, designs skew classic rather than modern, and the once-legendary return policy has tightened.

  • I have the tote and for a product that's not super expensive it feels so high quality. Also, random but their flagship store in Maine is open 24 hours a day which is so fun and quirky. Especially in a post-pandemic world things like that are so few and far between. Makes me want to support them even more!

  • I love LL Bean. The staff is always super helpful and they can always provide the info I need to make a purchasing decision. It is also slightly more affordable than other outdoor brands.

  • The best! I love their tote bags, and I am so obsessed with their clothing. It's warm, sturdy, comfortable, all the good things for when you are on the go. Best!

  • they’ve been around a long time for a reason. They create durable products, but unfortunately, I have noticed to decline in the age of fast fashion. I just hope they will commit to their long time standard of product.

  • This is only about the sleepwear. So thankful that there is somewhere else that does petite pj's aside from VS! What I have is high quality, comfortable, and cozy. The pj pants are actually even shorter than I anticipated so if you're under 5'3 like me these might be better lengthwise.

  • Recently purchased a tote, and their wool base layer line. So far, I love the quality. They deliver on their product promises, and I will be returning in the future.

  • The bag I get the most compliments on - bought the large tote and it's my go-to travel bag!

  • Both of my kids have LL Bean backpacks and lunchboxes. We really like the quality of those. However, in my experience, the clothing doesn't last.

  • LL bean has some of the best outerwear i’ve worn! although the price point is on the higher side, their clothing is high quality and lasts a long time. and they actually keep you warm! my favorite piece from them would be the sherpa coat. it reaches to my knees so it keeps me warm when the weather starts getting colder.

  • I have a pair of slippers from LL bean from over 5 years ago and they are still in great shape. They are super soft and comfortable to wear. Love them.

  • They have beautiful stores with great products-really nothing to complain about.

  • As a brand I love most of their products and clothing. Their boots are amazing what I don’t like is how they got rid of their previously well known return policy. I therefore now buy less from the company. The prices are high and you can often find just as good of products at other stores.

  • I love LL Bean! I have the totes, flannel bedding, slippers, Bean boots, xc skis, dog beds, hammock...I'm sure there's other things I'm not remembering right now. The quality is all around very excellent. I have had the Bean boots since college and had them resoled a few years ago (I think it was about $40), otherwise, they are wearing in perfectly. Same with the totes, we have some from the 80s that have been handed down through the family.

  • I own several LL Bean apparel and they are very high quality. They last for many years if you take care of them, I even have a rain jacket that I have owned for 10+ years and still going strong. They are not the front page magazine fashion but a solid high quality wear that helps you to stay safe outdoors. They are also very comfortable to wear.

  • LL Bean is the best. It has been a staple for me for years, and still excels at high quality. I still have a pair of duck boots from years ago and remains in great quality!

  • I've been wearing the Wicked Good Moccasins for 15+ years. They are so comfortable and toasty. The latest pair I ordered was the Moosehide moccasins. They have definitely held up better than the regular pair -- I think they keep shape for longer too!

  • The LL Bean Boat & Tote will never, ever not be a staple. Versatile, affordable, durable, and truly just the best.

  • I have many Boat & Tote bags and they just get better with age. So versatile and useful. Love my classic Bean Boots too for the winter days!

  • Decent products- bought the slippers on recommendation of Wirecutter. They are comfortable but weren’t very durable. Company replaced them for falling apart within a year but the second pair did the same. Pricing seems fair but heard they have strong viewpoints that don’t necessarily align with my own, so would rather frequent other manufacturers in the future.
