  • Layered, umami-rich flavor profile

  • Oil-forward, leaky packaging
  • Inconsistent crunch texture
  • Milder-than-expected spice

  • Big fan of Fly by Jing for their more unique chili oils – the original is great for a gift but I definitely lean more towards lao gan ma, though I'm sure their recipe is more straightforward and transparent since it's smaller batch. The zhong sauce is a huge hit in our house, I've also gifted it to so many people for birthdays and holidays. I think they're doing a great job as a newer asian-american brand and aren't leaning too western / haven't lost the essence of the product. I personally am not willing to spend the money on the hot pot base, but have always wanted to try it.

  • Really 3 stars, but upped one more star because of the branding and positioning. This is a pretty standard chili crisp that's a little more bland than the classic Lao Gan Ma. The diaspora will know, but for everyone else, this is great.

  • Fly by Jing sauces are amazing additions to my pantry and have so many uses. My favorite is the Zhong Sauce because it has a really amazing flavor profile and is both sweet and savory and spicy all at the same time!

  • My favorite chili crunch. Nothing compares. I believe they changed the recipe a bit but I think it tastes even better.

  • Awesome flavor, a really great addition to seriously any meal. Love adding some chili crisp to eggs in the morning. Love the wide availability as well; target, sprouts, etc.

  • Delicious! Such a great addition to almost everything. Really livens up a plain dish and packed with flavor

  • I’ve heard a lot about this brand before and while I think it’s great that an expanded variety cuisines are becoming more mainstream through brands like this, I was a little disappointed by the actual product. The chili crisp to oil ratio is quite skewed, with very little chili crisps. The level of heat is satisfying and it packs a punch but it’s lacking in more flavor than that. At its current price I’ll stick with the OG lao gan ma.

  • Didn’t love it as much as I’d hoped. Good on eggs, avo toast, but wanted more peppercorn flavour

  • It's spicy. Like Asian-level spicy. I'm still figuring out how to use it, but seems like it would be best mixed in for cooking, or if you have not spicy Asian food and want to add a kick. It's too spicy to be used as a solo seasoning (tried that on some tofu, wouldn't recommend - literally too spicy without enough other flavors) but worked great with some stir-fry seasoned with soy sauce. I've never been huge on the Asian chili sauce, but if that's your thing, it's worth trying.

  • This is my favorite chili oil. I've traveled to China many times and tried a lot of oils. There are a lot of texture and flavor options and this is by far my favorite. The oil is good, and the spices in it are good. You aren't going to get a bite that's too strong or weird which can happen with other brands. The packaging is also really nice-looking. I'm a fan.

  • I am a huge fan of their chili crisp. I dont know how I have gotten away with putting on ice cream.

  • I love this chili crisp! I like putting a little bit on whatever I’m eating to kick it up a notch—it’s great in a savory yogurt bowl, on eggs, on porridge, in a salad, etc.

  • Solid flavor enhancer, not too spicy, great on a scramble or avo toast.

  • Fly by Jing is a really solid chili crisp -- I managed to get a few of them at Costco and at specialty stores here and there. I'm not particularly loyal to any chili crisp and am open to trying new ones. If you come across it, definitely worth a shot. Have yet to find the one that takes the chili crips crown!

  • This stuff is delicious! It’s a really concentrated sauce that adds a great chili flavor to food. I tried it out today for the first time adding into a salad, but it’s really versatile and could definitely be used cooked into things or added on top.

  • The Sichuan Chili Crisp is such an amazing product to have on hand. I always have it nearby to top eggs, salads, sandwiches, dumplings. Basically anything I am making I love that I can throw some chili crisp on top for a delicious spicy crunchy addition!

  • Love this chili crisp! So tasty and brings life to all my Asian dishes

  • I tried the Zhong sauce and was not a fan. I haven’t tried the chili crisp which is probably better, but I won’t purchase the zhong sauce again.
