Reviews mention

  • Comfortable high-waisted silhouettes
  • Reliable overnight leak protection
  • Breathable cotton fabrications
  • Discreet black absorbent lining
  • Controversial pfas-laden materials
  • Inconsistent, unreliable sizing
  • Bulky heavy-flow construction
  • Fragile seams and elastics

Thinx earns polarized reviews: many report it works—comfortable, leak-preventing overnight and on light-to-moderate days with stylish high-waist, boyshort, and thong options—yet significant concerns surface. Reviews cite PFAS scandals, inconsistent sizing and fit, lingering odor, limited absorbency and edge coverage for heavy flow, bulk in higher-absorbency styles, and durability issues like fraying elastics and seams.

  • I'm giving Thinx 2 stars because I really liked the product (functional, eco friendly, easy to use) but with the PFAS controversy (the underwear may or may not contain the harmful substance) I haven't worn them since. I wish the brand would put out information debunking the claim if it doesn't contain PFAS.

    PFAS?

  • I really loved the thinx I have, the highwaisted, regular, and even the exercise shorts. They have held all my cycle and can be a really healthy way to feel comfortable on your period. Going to bed used to be a nightmare, but these really help.

I really loved this brand at first until I found out it has toxic PFAs/forever chemicals. Once I knew these pairs could harm immune system and other potential dangers, I just do not feel like justifying the price and wearing them for long periods of time anymore. Now considering there are many other brands with period underwear now available versus when Thinx first came out, I will probably be trying other brands.

  • I really wanted to like this product but it just wasn't for me. These underwear run very small and the padding is a bit awkward in my opinion.

Sizing could be more inclusive and accurate!

  • Thinx has been a lifesaver especially for preventing leaks overnight. I have a few styles that are great for heavy flow days. The fabric works well for both winter and summer days. It has made my monthly cycle less chaotic. However, the material does have a mild odor that sticks around. I feel safe using the product but also have been wondering if there are better alternatives.

  • I’ve used mine for years and still use their very first generation and find them practical although they feel a bit like diapers. I change them up with cups and can’t go back to liners or tampons.

  • Life changing underwear! Yes they hold everything AND keep you dry and comfortable. Thinx has many different types of fabrications and flow capacities that allow you to wear it all day. I have over 10 pairs and have been wearing them for 8 years. I can't compare them to other menstrual underwear, but compared to tampons, pads, and cups, this is the most comfortable option. Shout out to their sporty fabrication that is perfect to work out in!

  • My mother got me a pair of their high-waisted underwear a couple years ago, and I still use them just fine! They are very flattering, and I have always wanted a pair of regular underwear that looks just like them. I know you aren't supposed to put them in the wash, but I always do, and they have still worked for me after about three years. I do not have a flow at all due to birth control, but I do have significant enough spotting around my period that it would ruin underwear. I do not like the feeling of panty liners or pads, so this is a perfect fit for me! I don't feel like I'm wearing a diaper, it is breathable, and I've never had any pants ruined while wearing them!

I do know that there is concern right now about PFAs in these, so I have not bought any additional pairs. Also, they are pretty expensive, so I see them as an investment piece. I wouldn't recommend them to a friend right now, but if the PFAs thing was sorted, then I would.

  • I really wanted to like this product but I found it is only good for use on light flow days- so towards the end of my period. I used it once on a day with heavier flow and nope, that did not end well. Thankfully I was at home so managed to avoid any awkward situations but it was still an uncomfortable feeling.

I really appreciate the ubiquity of period products in the media helping to further destigmatise menstrual matters and I believe Winx was amongst the first to do so unashamedly however, I found the product unsuitable on their own for people who are even slightly normal to heavier bleeders. And for me, it kinda defeats the purpose of having special period pants when you then need to employ a tampon or menstrual cup as well. In saying that, I have and do continue to use my Thinx on lighter flow days but I resort to other methods on days it’s a blood bath down there. TMI I know, but IT’S NORMAL!

  • I had multiple pairs of their period underwear over the years, and unfortunately the lining frays over time.

  • I liked Thinx for a while, but now I've moved onto menstrual cups, which are easier to deal with. I don't see myself going back to Thinx, as I never loved the thickness of the fabric.

  • Life-changing! As someone with a really heavy flow, it's incredible to wear these as I sleep without any fears of the leaks or stains that I always got while using pads. Super comfortable & they're absorbent enough to wear all day.

  • I love what Thinx has done for the menstrual product industry -- which is to say, turned it on it's head. It was one of the first (if not the first?) brands to design cute and reusable menstrual underwear, and for that I am forever grateful. However, the PFAs scandal led me to trying other companies out, and it made me realize that some Thinx undies are unnecessarily uncomfortable. I used to think it just had to be tight around the legs so that no blood escaped, but I've tried some from Modibodi and they're way more comfortable with no leakage. So are they worth it? I prefer comfort, but they definitely have some of the cutest styles, so it depends on what your preferences are.

  • I'm super sad their products contain PFAS. I did buy the organic cotton ones and they're comfortable, however, they run very small. The concept is so great to be able to free bleed but I think the brand needs some work.

  • Completely changed my period experience. Incredibly thankful for these + menstrual cup.

  • Like the brand, the fit/comfort, packaging, and mission.

A couple of pairs have come apart at the seams without a lot of use.

  • I really love the idea of period panties. The pair I ordered ran slightly small but I didn't feel like going through the hassle of exchanging them so I kept them. They do the job though they're definitely thick (as expected) & have a very thick, obvious panty line. Best worn at night. Easy to wash.

Make them more discrete for daytime wear

  • I think Thinx is one of the best known brands for period underwear and I'm a big fan of the product itself. I got one of the heavier absorbency pairs and they do the job but I did find that it smelled a little even after washing.

  • Have used this myself and also gifted to a friend. I use it with other products but it gives me extra comfort while lounging and sleeping. It would make sense to have more than one pair for rotation.

  • Definitely life-changing products. I bought a few different models with different levels of absorbency and it took me some time to figure out which works best for different days. I also did not find some models comfortable enough, but generally, they are leak free and easy to wash, so perfect both for active days and nights.
