Reviews mention

  • Tasty low‑sugar candies
  • Nostalgic flavor recreations
  • Bright, fruity flavor profiles
  • Convenient portioned packaging
  • Extremely sticky texture
  • Inconsistent chewiness firmness
  • Sweetener aftertaste lingering
  • Potential gastrointestinal discomfort

SmartSweets earns positive reviews for genuinely tasty, low‑sugar takes on nostalgic gummies like Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, and Red Twists; it satisfies cravings and often avoids “fake” sweetener aftertaste. Reviews also flag real drawbacks: many candies are extremely sticky or tough, flavors can be inconsistent with occasional stevia/allulose aftertaste and GI upset, and portions feel small. Overall, SmartSweets is good if cutting sugar, but texture quirks and formula variability make it a compromise for purists.

  • I actually love these candies, makes me feel a lot better about eating a bag of gummy worms every month lol

are you able to make it more healthy? no sugar alternatives

  • The candies *look* like the "real thing," but don't taste or feel like it. I find they're really hard to chew (too sticky / not the right texture) and taste flat. They also wind up giving me a stomach ache - I think because of the sugar alcohols.

  • Really great substitutes for candies that I already love (especially Sour Patch Kids & Swedish Fish). They definitely don’t taste the same, but they do satisfy my craving and have me feeling a lot better about putting less sugar in my body.

I do think they could be more flavorful - the thing that I feel is missing is a more intense fruit flavor across a lot of their types of candy.

  • My favorite candy! It mimics the same flavors as the originals but doesnt feel like a sugar rush after you finish a bag.

  • Some of the flavors are pretty good - love the sour patch and gummy rings, however the majority of flavors I've tried definitely don't satisfy the cravings for the candies they are meant to replace. The swedish fish don't taste anything like Swedish Fish and get stuck in your teeth. The licorice are also way too soft and get stuck in your teeth, as do the gummy worms. Honestly, they ALL get really stuck in your teeth and are all too soft in texture. I still reach for the sour patch kids and the peach rings because the flavor and sourness is there, and as someone with a massive sweet tooth I greatly appreciate the low sugar content.

  • I really like Smart Sweets as an alternative to regular candy. It fixes my cravings, tastes pretty yummy, and I don't feel bad after eating it.

    Feedback

Wish it had the chewiness like regular candy.

  • expensive with unsatisfying taste all the podcasters or influencers who say that "they taste just like your childhood favorites with less of the sugar" are lying to you good concept but poor execution

  • Whether I would recommend these is highly contingent on the flavor and whether you get a bag that is stale or old. There are instances I have bought these online or in a store and they're hard to chew through and the flavor is off. The best variety of these sweets, for me, tended to be the ones in the sour range. If you want something emblematic of candy that doesn't make you feel like trash after, these are good, but given the inconsistencies in quality and the drastic difference in how proximate each variety is to the candy it's resembling, I would not recommend these products.

  • My wife is a huge candy person but we're always trying to cut back on sweets. I bought her a couple different types of Smart Sweets, super excited to have her try them out. Big let down. She was immediately disappointed in the taste. I couldn't believe it so had to try for myself and was also super disappointed. They were so bad she didn't even finish the bag and we were hesitant to even try the other flavors.

  • I used to regularly buy sweet treats candies, but they get boring pretty quickly. Aside from being low sugar, they don’t seem super healthy, so I’d rather splurge on more indulgent treats every once in a while.

  • My office has the peach rings in their pantry, so I am most familiar with those. They're... ok. The texture is off and the sugar on the outside is more like powdered Truvia than anything else. They do satisfy my candy craving, but not my gummy one.

  • Pretty good product portfolio spread among different candy styles. I'm a fan of the low sugar health health-conscious approach. Price point can be mid high compared to peers, but it's a relatively high quality product. Sometimes the gummies can get stuck in teeth.

  • Pretty good for a healthy candy alternative. While I really love the flavor, there is a hint of aftertaste and the texture isn't quiiiiiite there. That said, for a low-sugar alternative, I can't complain!

  • The gummies have definitely been fine tuned and improved upon. I stopped consuming them because I wasn't crazy about the texture, but they recently caught my eye again with the "new and improved" claims and am glad that they came through. I can only speak for the Sour Worms, but they're a solid, tasty and delicious sour snack. Of course, they're processed and not super healthy, but they're replacing sugar laden, even more processed snacks.

  • SmartSweets has definitely cracked the texture and flavor of low-sugar gummies. I just wish I were someone who could eat these without the stomach problems but the fiber that's added gives me stomach cramps if I'm not careful. They probably affect people differently, but for me, it was a not so pleasant process of figuring out my personal limit, which is a lot lower than what they have as a serving suggestion. This brand has been around for a while, but if there's anyone trying their products for the first time, I'd just suggest having only a couple of pieces and seeing how they sit with you before enjoying more of them. My personal favorites are the Sour Blast Buddies, Gummy Worms, and Peach Rings. Their texture is slightly tackier than traditional gummies but not in an unpleasant way, and you don't get any stevia aftertaste even though it's an ingredient. The Sour Blast Buddies are also a good level of sour and sweet, so they get that important element right. I would recommend checking the dates on the bags in your local store. I've gotten some bags that have been pretty stale (the candies were hard and pretty dried out) before I considered checking them.

  • I like the idea of Smart Sweets, but I'd rather eat the real thing. For those watching their sugar or with health restrictions, I could see this being a great product!

  • This is such a nice alternative to generic candy brands- live for the movies or more of a guilt free candy treat. The twizzler alternative and peach rings are great

  • This candy is ok, I just wish it had a better texture. Other than that, I love the different types of candy you can get and it’s definitely a better alternative to the candy that’s full of dyes and processed sugar.
