As a lover of new and innovative hair products, whenever I see a new company on the market, I’m always intrigued. Discovering OurX, a company dedicated to creating a new approach to curly hair care and eager to help clients find a new personalized hair regimen was a HELL YES moment for me. I love companies who cater to curly hair specifically in a good way. As a hair care junkie, there aren’t many available clean brands on the market unfortunately. Many companies are often cash grabs filled with chemicals that lead to shedding, frizzing, extreme hair loss and sadly cancer risks. I saw this brand on Instagram and I decided to get in line before they released their products. Their product system is set up to be a personalized program designed specifically for your hair goals. I have seen something similar, however this company uses more science-based techniques and that intrigued me to try. OurX is black-owned, cruelty free, vegan, sulfate free, paraben free, and dermatologist tested company just so say a few. I love clean products and I’m a sucker for cute sustainable packaging lol. The price point is pretty good and what I expected. I usually spend around $150 for around 4-5 bottles of product, so spending $148+ tax didn’t scare me. If you’re getting better products, you’re definitely going to pay a higher price. Bonus points? I received a coupon for signing up early, so I only paid $104. My regimen was dedicated to lengthening my hair. Sometimes maintaining length is difficult with curly hair for me. I’ve experienced a lot of shedding and breakage over the years and my scalp buildup is INSANE. Healthy hair definitely starts at the root, so having a technique to increase my scalp care was necessary. After using these products for about three weeks, my scalp is a lot cleaner with less buildup and my hair is healthier. I no longer experience excessive amounts of dandruff and itching, I am forever in love with the scalp solution and pre-cleanse micro oil. They have been a great addition to my hair routine. The nutrient cleanse complex (shampoo), Intensive Conditioning Compound (conditioner) and Treatment Leave In (leave-in conditioner) also came with my personal recommendation set. They’re all great and work really well for my hair. The shampoo was very gentle on my curls and actually felt like a conditioner, it was very soothing to work through my hair without knots being created. Overall, this hair care company is very impressive and enlightening. I love their mission to create a space specifically for curls, kinks and afros without harmful chemicals and fillers. I have definitely recommended them multiple times to my hair buddies and will continue to do so.

This was intended as a gift for my granddaughter. She has the type of hair for this product. The packaging is great, although there were no labels or way to know what is what once you put the product inside the nifty bottles (BTW, love them) I do like the way this product leaves her tight thick coily hair. Lush, plush, shiny coils!

I missed the drop for this brand via Thingtesting, but luckily the brand extended the offer on their website for the "Summer Essentials Trio". It is a limited-time deal for $24 and I paid $29 with the shipping. The products were delivered in a timely fashion and the packaging is so beautifully done! I have not tested the products yet but once I do I plan to update my review. For now, though I will just rave about the thoughtfulness of the brand and the sustainable refillable packaging. I love that the website has a glossary for every ingredient they use. The kit comes with refillable bottles, product pouches, and rubber bands to label each bottle. The bottles are not glass but are recyclable. That is all for now!

As someone who deals with a heavy dandruff problem, I've found OurX's scalp products to be an absolute game-changer. Pre-cleansing my scalp with their Scalp Purifying Solution before washing has left me irritation-free for the longest period I've ever experienced. It's amazing how effective this routine has been for managing my persistent dandruff issues. I've become such a fan of OurX that I now bring my deep conditioner with me when I travel (most recently London). I absolutely love the thickness and slip of the deep conditioner – it allows me to detangle my hair without the breakage I used to experience. Several of my friends have tried the deep conditioner as well, and they've been equally impressed with the results. They want some too! The only downside is that many of them live in the UK, so hopefully the products will become available there soon. I highly recommend trying them out and booking an appointment with their hair coaches to get personalized recommendations.

Ourx has an awesome product selection for those with very textured hair. Because I have curly hair that isn’t so highly textured, I like to keep my hair routine a bit simpler. I also tried a few variations of the hair evaluation and found that it isn’t necessary and you can just go off what you would like to order individually. However, all products were high quality and I see myself incorporating them in the future! Customer support is also very responsive and helpful!

I am all about trying new personal care products. When I saw this I definitely wanted in because I am also a sucker about personalized or fit to consumer products. The ordering was easy and the only downside was that my product came a week before the bottles did, but oh well. I still like the packaging! As my hair is more medium thickness and loose curls waves, maybe some of the products weren’t best for my hair, for example the oil was way too oily for my hair and took several washes to get out. But that’s not to say it’s a bad product, my mom has thick curly hair and I ended up giving her the oil and she loves it! I also love the leave-in treatment and use it almost everytime after I wash my hair. Would I get a subscription? Probably not, but do I like the products enough that I would get a refill? Yes.

Used after going without washing my hair for a week after a particularly stressful week at work not expecting much, pretty much got rid of my itchy scalp immediately.

I live trying new products for my curly hair. This one was great to use and I like the idea of having refillable bottles. But the grey rubber bands which identify what product is in each bottle is hard to read ( not vet ADA compliant) also I will have to remember how to use each product after filling the bottles since the directions are on the pouches.

Not my favourite, meaning not worth it for my type of hair. I am mix raced light skin but my hair is a mix of African locks is some areas. Maybe it works on 100% on real cooled hair 3 and above but I'm below that so not the worst conditioner but won't buy it on purpose.

I bought this for both my daughter and husband, who have textured hair. Wow! The products immediately have made such a huge difference in their hair - my husband uses the shampoo and treatment leave-in and my daughter only uses the conditioner and treatment leave-in. We use a product app for reviewing what's in products (it's called YUKA) and we scan everything - both the conditioner and treatment leave-in are top-rated with really great ingredients and the shampoo wasn't as top-rated on the app, so I will not buy that again BUT will proudly continue to buy the conditioner and treatment leave-in. They smell so wonderful and feel proud to support a Black-owned and community-driven company. (plus it smells so lovely)

UPDATE!!! Since my review, I was personally contacted by the company. It really was so very appreciated. They rectified some of the issues that I mentioned and one they have been dealing with. They took personal responsibility and offered my personal evaluation. The missing product was swiftly sent. I am willing to do a double take so to speak. The communications have been kind and very reassuring. I have gotten a chance to enjoy the product I received…it is smooth and has a luxurious feel on my hair. I hope this gives a clearer picture into this brand new company! I LOVE trying new products from new/young companies, especially since it is black and women owned. However, every step in ordering this product was unpleasant, except the kind customer service emails. I wish I hadn’t purchased this on Thingdrop and am not looking forward to using this product. First, the website kept requiring me to change my password. Why?? Finally on the 4th try I got in…but we’re talking several emails and several attempts to even get to this point. Once I got to shop, I was looking for the “personalized” hair evaluation so I would get guidance and direction as to which product would be best suited for my “personal regime”. I could not find any hair evaluations anywhere on site. I’m no tech genius, but it shouldn’t be so difficult to navigate a website. Looking around the site I ordered the Nutrient Cleanse Complex. This is not what I thought I was ordering. Seeing those words I thought I was ordering a leave in conditioner or the like, but not shampoo. I then looked again and in small print under the name of the product it does disclose that it is a shampoo. I realize it says ‘cleanse’ and maybe I should have assumed it was a shampoo, but I don’t like to assume. Maybe the word shampoo could be placed in the title. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I was seeking something along the lines of a product to use and go. Finally, I feel deceived and misinformed. All the pics and information on the web site led me to believe that with my product I would get a little plastic bottle to dispense it…NOPE! Just a refill pouch. Who buys refill pouches with nothing to refill! 🤔 Using this will be a challenge or I buy a bottle to ‘refill’. My goal was not to purchase and then have to make an additional purchase to use it. I was so excited to purchase this product when I first saw it, to support the company and get a great hair product specifically for my hair. Disappointed all around and I wound not recommend buying from the company as I regret my purchase.

Quick shipping and very impressive product. I used it with my new hair dryer & loved the results. My husband even asked me if I had a new hair product b/c it smelled so good!

I enjoyed the questionnaire it asked me to tailor me to the right products. I loved that everything I received had a purpose of being reused and refillable. I love the smell of it and how it's not overpowering. My only downside was that it made my hair look "wet" so much to wear my coworkers mentioned it. I have very fine hair so I had high hopes after doing the quiz/questionnaire but it's just too heavy for my hair I guess. I tried to use just the shampoo and conditioner or leave-in conditioner (SIDE NOTE: I had enough product in the one order to last me a year, well worth the price IMO) to make it work for me but even just the shampoo made my hair look wet and almost clumped together.

Love the smell! It smells like a really luxurious product and is really great at what it does. I've been using it for about a month and my hair has been more soft and shiny each time. The water where I live is pretty hard so I tend to have trouble with build up on my hair which is helped a bit with the prewash oil. I'm not sure if that's how it actually works or a placebo but I really enjoy the ritual regardless. I didn't realize it was meant for black hair but it works really great for my wavy/curly hair as well and I'm happy to support the company and this message

Ordered the intro set through a Thingdrop earlier this year. Love love love the Treatment Leave-In. Use the pre-cleanse oil when I am taking my braids out.

Initial thoughts: All the products smell nice, and are not too strong when using them. I like the packaging with reusable containers. The pumps and nozzles feel good quality and the labeling bands are great for the identical containers. First hair wash: I think the oil worked, I haven't used an oil like this before though. I used about 5 minutes before showering. My hair came out soft after my normal washing and conditioning. I used the treatment leave-in like I would use a cream when braiding. I used it alone and my hair felt good and soft. It left the ends of my hair slick. My braids felt like normal for the next few days, so it was on par with my usual routine. First week: When taking out braids, the top of my hair seemed similar to using a light mousse but better, but I noticed that my ends were not conditioned or defined like I normally expect. I would definitely use another product like a cream or stronger conditioning product for the ends in the future. Trying to use the leave-in again to refresh was not great as it became sticky when adding more. Maybe I needed to re-wet my hair or just use a different product to refresh. Most of my hair was in nice condition though, very glossy with well-defined waves from the braids. I tried the scalp purifier and it felt good going on. It absorbed into my scalp and left no oily or other residue feeling. I used it again when my scalp was itchy and it seemed to work. Second Wash: This time I decided to not really style my hair and use minimal product to see how that was. I oiled and detangled my hair fully with the micro-oil which I thought went well and it was easy to work with my hair in the shower. On Day 1 I used the treatment leave-in and some gel. Then dried my hair a bit and then let air dry and I thought it looked good. The next 2 days I also thought my hair was in good condition, a little frizzy but not bad. I would probably want to adjust the amount of product or add another to help with frizz more. My hair is very easily tangled but I found the product wasn't sticky or anything so my curls stayed separate and defined. When I found my hair clumping a bit I just added some oil overnight and it was better in the morning. Looked fresh a good 3 days which is about what I expected for my experience. I refreshed on the 4th day with water and product, hair stayed soft and was able to detangle any knots easily. It still feels conditioned and wearable and lasted the week. Overall: I appreciate the amount of hold of the leave-in while feeling light. Avoided frizz well, and worked with water for restyling. Works with braids and also air drying natural. I will continue to use the scalp purifying solution and the micro-oil, and I have to experiment more with the leave-in to see if it will remain part of my routine since I think I will need to find what products to pair it with.

The conditioner they have has done miracles for my hair! I love that I can wash and leave on for 5 mins and my hair is silky smooth! Definitely worth the buy!
