Reviews mention

  • Consistently creamy crema-topped espresso
  • Sleek, compact machine design
  • Wide, adventurous pod variety
  • Quick, one-button brewing convenience
  • Pricey proprietary vertuo pods
  • Noticeably loud brewing noise
  • Occasional machine jams misreads
  • Coffee loses heat quickly

Nespresso earns strong reviews for delivering fast, consistently crema-topped coffee and espresso at home, with sleek machines and abundant pod variety, but it divides on taste versus true café espresso and draws criticism for loud brewing, pricey and proprietary pods (especially Vertuo), occasional jams and reliability issues, and mixed sustainability execution. The brand is good if convenience, ease, and a tidy setup matter; purists and those sensitive to noise, heat retention, or locked-in ecosystems may be disappointed.

  • Absolutely love the fact I can have gourmet coffee and lattes right at home.. Great selection of flavors and sizes.. In need of a quick shot of Espresso for an afternoon pick me up?? Not a problem , with the Nespresso it’s ready in less time than it takes to grab your keys!!

  • A classic for a reason! Use this every morning. Wish that pods were available to purchase in more locations, but, other brands do now make compatible pods that fit Nespresso machines. I have a Lattissima One with an attached frother now, but I also love their standalone frother — it is definitely the best in the biz!

  • Nespresso got me though Covid. There, I said it. Going from having nice coffee in my office to working at home with annoying filter coffee or instant coffee would have been unbearable. I got through so many Nespresso pods during 2020-22. Overall Nespresso coffee tastes good - I love the variety you can have by buying a selection of pods, and I think it's great you can now buy a selection of compatible pods in the supermarket too.

  • I have a Nespresso & love the ease of having an espresso machine from pods in my house, however it doesn't really stay hot... once I add milk or creamer it's always just cold coffee

  • TLDR: Not 100% perfect, but in my opinion, the best at-home option for fast espresso. Nespresso has mastered a few key things: - fast at-home espresso production - making it easy to make espresso - creating a slim/non-counter-invasive machine that makes good espresso - offering a range of espresso pods for novice to experienced espresso drinkers They do, definitely have some opportunities for growth. Most notable for me: - The machine does jam up every once in a while, and I have to manually get in there and tinker to figure out what's wrong. Sometimes a pod is stuck in a weird place, sometimes it doesn't recognize that there is in fact water in the tank, etc. - Some of the coffee pods have a chemical aftertaste, particularly the coffee-style pods. I really don't care for the flavored coffee pods. - It's definitely loud. Like, it sounds like it's grinding beans and working REALLY HARD to turn your pod into a drink loud. Which is weird because....it's not really doing all that much. I'm glad I have one, and I dig it, but I do look forward to the future of nespresso's products for sure! They're definitely taking customer feedback as it comes to aesthetic design - I'm thinking they'll work on some of the more functional elements in the coming years, too :)

  • Prefacing this with the fact that I drink coffee maybe five times a year. However, that makes me extremely picky and nespresso is probably the only at-home coffee machine that actually makes sense for me. I really like all of their flavors and that I can do a lot with them to get away from the actual taste of coffee.

  • The convenience factor is really what drove my 4-star review. It's not the best-tasting coffee, but the pods make it super easy, there's no cleanup, and perfect for a college student like me. It's a great starter coffee maker.

  • It's not the best tasting coffee, BUT when it comes to convenience this machine rocks. I like their recycling program and the machines are extremely easy to use. We put them in our AirBnb and guests love it.

  • Whenever I'm at my parents' house I love using their Nespresso machine. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but the purple pods are my favorite. I've never owned a machine myself, but I have gifted one before and appreciate that the brand has a range in pricing depending on the model you buy.

  • My office has a Nespresso, and I absolutely enjoy using it-- it's MUCH cheaper than paying for the coffee truck in our building lobby. That said, I personally prefer the taste of a freshly brewed espresso if I can get it, and I can taste the difference between a real espresso and a Nespresso so would advise any coffee elitists/purists/etc against purchasing this if they want that ~authentic feel~

Maybe make more eco-friendly espresso pods!!

  • Have the nespresso machine at my work. It works really nice giving it a nice aroma whenever we have a cup of coffee during breaks. Easy to use as you just put in a pod and water and press the button. I would say that the pod itself is a bit costly but if you're thinking about running to starbucks everyday, I think it's cost saving with a professional like coffee you can enjoy easily.

  • Nespresso makes great single-shot pods—convenient, consistent, and full of flavor. The espresso is rich and smooth, with a nice crema every time. Perfect for a quick, high-quality coffee at home

  • Very delicious coffee. A bit expensive for the pods, but not more expensive than leaving the house to buy cups of coffee.

  • The best pod coffee out there. Simple, quick, crowd pleaser. I actually like it more as black coffee than barista coffee. Has a good level of creme and its not too bitter.

  • Cool concept, great tasting coffee with a big variety of flavours. I appreciate their capsule recycling program. The only downside is the coffee doesn’t stay hot very long, however, I now use double walled cups and it’s improved.

  • I have had a couple of machines and have gotten rid of them all in favor of a moka pot. I just find that the space that the machine takes up is not worth it to me.

  • I got my first Nespresso machine a couple years ago and completely obsessed! I never made coffee at home prior because I never liked it, but I love my machine and going to the store to choose new pods.

  • I absolutely love my Nespresso! I love that I can have higher quality coffee at a convenience. I mostly use it for a quick little espresso in the morning or after dinner, so if that’s your vibe, I say it’s perfect! Also you get a bag to put used capsules in and can drop it off at one of the postal services to return them.

  • I'm so impressed by this thing. I don't have high expectations for any type of coffee maker, but the Nespresso makes an awesome drink despite not being the industrial type of espresso machine you'll see at a café. P.S. The pods are recyclable.
