Reviews mention

  • Smooth-writing gel pens
  • Thoughtful minimalist design
  • Durable storage organizers
  • Calming in-store atmosphere
  • Boxy apparel fits
  • Occasional pen smudging
  • Inconsistent clothing quality
  • Flimsy cleaning tools

Muji earns strong reviews as a minimalist one‑stop shop that works well for stationery, storage, and home basics—its 0.36–0.5 gel pens, notebooks, diffusers, and modular organizers draw consistent praise for smooth performance, thoughtful design, and longevity. Reviews also flag drawbacks: clothing can fit boxy or feel mid‑quality, some items (especially certain home goods) feel overpriced, pens may smudge or skip, and online selection/UX lags, making in‑store experiences distinctly better.

  • Muji pens are the best! I have like 2 or 3 in nearly every bag I own. Thin, reliable, doesn't bleed, and a nice design. A great basic.

  • Love Muji! Yes it's a bit expensive, but I do believe the products are high quality and last you a long time. Some of the items I have, have lasted a while and are still going strong. I have a special love for the customisable notebooks, you can pick yours in the store and customise it to your liking with stamps and motifs available there. It's fun and I love getting my own notebooks from there time and again!

  • love. their basics but I feel like theyre just more elegant ikea quality things.

  • Products can be pricey but you can always rely on the simple but elegant designs and quality. I love the kitchenware, organization pieces, stationery, and clothing pieces.

  • muji makes my favorite planner ever - it’s a blank-dated one with a monthly & weekly section + some blank pages as well. can’t speak to the brand much beyond that, but i enjoy the minimalist aesthetic of their products.

  • I've been a big fan of Muji over the years, and while I don't shop super regularly, I recently moved to a province that doesn't have Muji stores and I do miss popping in! Beautiful minimal products, each item is just a bit elevated and honestly I believe the quality is quite good for most things. I love their stationary and pens, socks and accessories, cotton pads, luggage, bowls and kitchen accessories, random bathroom accessories, etc. A nice place to shop for gifts as well!

  • Muji is a favorite among my friends for stationary. The minimalist aesthetic is definitely my vibe - wish there were more stores across the country!

  • i’ll say that some of their items are outrageously expensive, but the items that are worth their price are the few i’ve purchased. of course their pens are iconic, but if you live in NY or MA and hate the feeling of humid air, get their portable mini handheld fan. it has 4-5 different speeds, tilts at different angles, and is rechargeable. i no longer walk the streets of boston looking like i ran a marathon

  • Always find something here - very affordable and good quality. Sometimes a bit bland in the selection of colors, etc. Love their home accessories - well-designed. Their products tend to last, so I feel the value is definitely there.

  • I LOVE Muji! As someone who has visited Muji overseas, I will say Muji in the states is much more expensive. However, I love the simplicity and quality of their products, from their home goods to the apparel. Muji is timeless and will never go out of style.

  • I LOVE Muji products! I am a big fan of their stationary because the design is simple and high quality and I recently ordered from their home product section and was really satisfied by how simple yet effective the design was. I love how everything is affordable and high quality

  • Their stationary is always top knotch, the variety of colour and quality of their pens got me through a few rough years of post secondary. I've never had their pens bleed on me either. The food and snacks they offer are also great, I've tried a few of their curries and candies.. My favourite is definitely the Yuzu hard candy.

  • Recently discovered their linen clothing. Very affordable and simple designs, in lovely colors. I purchased multiple tops for the summer.

  • I have to say, I have only purchased stationery from Muji, but their pens are simply sublime.

  • The shopping experience at Muji actually shifts my mood. It's incredibly peaceful and I always walk out feeling uplifted. Muji's products are affordable without sacrificing quality. They stock very thoughtfully designed essentials that look and feel like high-end brands. Muji is my go-to for kitchen essentials, organization systems, stationary and so much more. I've purchased comfortable, minimalist clothing that looks like the Row and their slippers are a staple in my home. Muji is my happy place, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit!

  • Oh Muji! You have my heart! Our whole family loves Muji and their clean, modern basics. I love their cleaning system (so much better looking than swiffer) and all the organizing items. We also love all their stationary products.

One of our favorite aspects of Muji is the classy, minimal branding and inexpensive refills on things like wipes, pencil lead, utility blades etc. Muji- both utilitarian and delightful!

  • I am obsessed with Muji's .38 pens! They are the only ones I will use. I have visited their NYC store and got to take a look at their other products as well. They seemed good, but weren't special enough for me to purchase. Equivalent to Ikea, but more minimal.

I would not call Muji a particularly "affordable" place to shop, I would say they are in line with other stores like Target, Ikea, etc.

  • Muji is like a little organizational wonderland [star eye emoji] Their stationary is just wonderful. The paper quality is great for the price. The pens and highlighters work well. Their essential oils fill up a room. I use some of their acrylic organizers for my jewelry. BUT personally, my favorite thing about Muji is how "brandless" it feels. Their products feel blank, in a good way. Their designs are clean and minimal.

  • Love Muji - when I lived in NYC, it was basically one of my convenience stores. They have an incredible range of products, all designed so sleekly + minimal, at great price points. The stationary/notebooks are one of my favorite parts of Muji. Also love the home goods, travel essentials, and affordable but so chic clothing / accessories.
