Muji wins strong reviews for minimalist, well‑made essentials that generally perform—from beloved 0.38–0.5 gel pens and high‑quality notebooks to durable organizers, travel containers, diffusers, and select apparel—yet the brand draws criticism for inconsistent clothing quality/fit, occasional product misses (cleaning tools, some suitcases), and prices that feel high for basics. Reviews also praise the serene in‑store experience and timeless design while noting limited color variety and that certain items smudge or skip, so discerning shoppers should target stationery, storage, travel accessories, and home goods over more variable categories.

The shopping experience at Muji actually shifts my mood. It's incredibly peaceful and I always walk out feeling uplifted. Muji's products are affordable without sacrificing quality. They stock very thoughtfully designed essentials that look and feel like high-end brands. Muji is my go-to for kitchen essentials, organization systems, stationary and so much more. I've purchased comfortable, minimalist clothing that looks like the Row and their slippers are a staple in my home. Muji is my happy place, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit!

Oh Muji! You have my heart! Our whole family loves Muji and their clean, modern basics. I love their cleaning system (so much better looking than swiffer) and all the organizing items. We also love all their stationary products.

One of our favorite aspects of Muji is the classy, minimal branding and inexpensive refills on things like wipes, pencil lead, utility blades etc. Muji- both utilitarian and delightful!
I am obsessed with Muji's .38 pens! They are the only ones I will use. I have visited their NYC store and got to take a look at their other products as well. They seemed good, but weren't special enough for me to purchase. Equivalent to Ikea, but more minimal.

I would not call Muji a particularly "affordable" place to shop, I would say they are in line with other stores like Target, Ikea, etc.
Muji is like a little organizational wonderland [star eye emoji] Their stationary is just wonderful. The paper quality is great for the price. The pens and highlighters work well. Their essential oils fill up a room. I use some of their acrylic organizers for my jewelry. BUT personally, my favorite thing about Muji is how "brandless" it feels. Their products feel blank, in a good way. Their designs are clean and minimal.
Love Muji - when I lived in NYC, it was basically one of my convenience stores. They have an incredible range of products, all designed so sleekly + minimal, at great price points. The stationary/notebooks are one of my favorite parts of Muji. Also love the home goods, travel essentials, and affordable but so chic clothing / accessories.

Great selection of stationery - love their pens. Great quality, and it doesn't run out of ink super fast.
muji is basically the ikea of japan it appears. Muji's design is super minimalist, like ikea, and it puts an emphasis on being sustainable, recycling and trying to eliminate waste in production and packaging,
This is an olive oil based cleansing oil that checks all the boxes of what oil cleansers should do but so few do. It removes makeup thoroughly and easily, it emulsifies / rinses off cleanly and leaves 0 residue, it is easy to use!
Not to be dramatic but some of my Muji products have been life changing. The pens are just *chef's kiss* and my planner has helped me stay organized SO much better than any other planner on the market. And prices are so reasonable.

I'm so sad all California branches were closed because the last time I was in New York I spent hours at their local Muji. They're known for their quality basics, I love their denim jackets. Great snack section too.
This Asian brand is so cool. It’s almost like IKEA meets a modern store and they have such cool little trinkets and housewares. I love how unique everything is and how affordable and good quality it is.

The Muji aesthetic is simple, streamlined, and minimalist. The home goods items are well made and high quality. The clothes are high quality as well and they use natural materials like wool, cotton, and linen.

This oil has a lightweight texture that glides smoothly onto the skin, dissolving makeup (including stubborn waterproof mascara with gentle massaging) and sunscreen without tugging. It emulsifies beautifully upon contact with water, rinsing off cleanly without leaving a greasy residue—ideal for those who dread heavy post-cleansing feels.
I love Muji pens so much! I own them in almost all of the colors! I also love how the home items are affordable. I was so sad when they closed the store near me.
The design is super cool – it definitely brings back that clean, uncluttered vibe, which is refreshing. But it's not just about the look. Muji has managed to create a cleansing oil that is both gentle and effective, and also more accessible than many other brands.
I love Muji products for their neutral minimalistic look but still having great functionality. I feel they focus on the quality of the products and not on just looking pretty so you get amazing product at a very reasonable price. I love their stationary and travel personal care items.
I recently discovered the store while on a trip to Asia and it quickly became my favorite. It is like an IKEA store meets Uniqlo and it is just great. They offer a range of home products at good prices and they are high-quality and unique.

So intuitively designed. Many options and lots of variety of items to choose. Very economical and quality is top tier. The stores are also always so clean and organized and I feel good purchasing from this brand.
I really like this brand, very nice feeling cleanser. Not too harsh on the skin and the smell isn’t too strong. I don’t want to be overpowered by scent in my cleansing products. The packaging is really luxe as well.
