  • I got the Sichuan chili crisp as part of a gift. I honestly did not know what to expect but a lot of people seemed to like it. I, personally, have a pretty high spice tolerance and I found this just okay. Not really spicy for me. Most of the sauce tends to sit at the bottom of the bottle, so make sure to stir it really well before using it. Also the lid is slippery, and for the bottle I own the lid doesn't tighten completely unfortunately so the bottle with the loosely fit lid sits in a ziplock bag in my fridge. So it's pretty messy when I do have to use it.

  • As a foodie, I love chili oil - the sh*t goes well with almost anything. I have traditional chinese chili oil in my fridge at all times but when I heard about their brand on social media and saw that Costco was selling their set of two Fly by Jing, I had to give it a try. I usually prefer a chili oil that is light in color, fragrant, more oil than chili, and the oil provides more flavor than actual spice. For Fly by Jing, I found their chili oil to be a bit denser in color, somewhat neutral taste (doesn't seem to be enhanced by MSG), and the chili oil to chili mass was about 55%/45% respectively. If you're new to the world of chili oil, Fly by Jing is right for you. For those who are more seasoned chili oil lovers, give Fly by Jing a go but also keep a jar of your favorite chili oil by your side.

  • The chili oil is soooo good. It works on literally everything.

  • The Chili Crisp is quite good, but truly nothing about it stood out to me relative to other chili crisps I’ve tried, and FBJ costs almost 3x as most brands I’ve seen. The price just feels astronomical for something that tastes essentially the same as every other brand on the market. As another reviewer noted, the oil to crisp ratio is like really off, with most of the jar being oil with very little crisp, whereas other cheaper brands I’ve tried had significantly more crisp in the jar. Maybe I need to try their other flavors to get what the hype is about!

  • I was hesitant to buy this Chili Crisp based on the price ($19 for a jar!) but since I was given it to test by Thingtesting, that changes things. So up front, this is probably not something I would normally source for my pantry solely due to the cost. But the flavor is AMAZING! It is spicy but the spiciness doesn't overwhelm the other flavors of the sauce. I used it in a chow mein dish and while it added an immense amount of heat to the dish, it also elevated it by providing the missing element. I generally would not buy $19 chili crisp, but perhaps my mind has changed!

  • Huge fan of the chili crisp and zhong sauce. So much flavor, and they really, truly, go with pretty much everything. Noodles, rice, veggies, eggs, pizza, spaghetti — all improved with a drizzle of FBJ.

  • I got the Sichuan Chili Crisp from the Try Things program and I will definitely be purchasing it when I run out! It's not what I was expecting, most chili crisps I've tried have been lots of little crunchy bits suspended in bright red oil, but this one has lots of different textures in it (including some larger chewy pieces that I found out are fermented black beans!!) and you have to dig down to the bottom of the jar and stir it up to get the good stuff. It's not too spicy and has a nice savory and almost smoky flavor. It does cost quite a bit more than the chili crisp products I've been buying from H Mart most of my life but for me they all last forever anyways so it's not the worst scenario. Next I really want to try the Chengdu Crunch!

  • The asian in me wanted to hate this $14 chili oil, but even I, a lifelong Lao Gan Ma loyalist, am now a convert. The Xtra Spicy Chili Crisp is really fucking good. Super spicy without losing its fragrance or complexity.

  • The chili crisp is good, but I've had others that I preferred. I've also had the spicy version, which I didn't love. The real standout for me is the Zhong Sauce, which is slightly sweet. I haven't had anything else like it. I also like the Tribute Pepper Oil, which does give you that numbing feeling.

  • Picked the chili crisp and zhong sauce at world market, both were pretty tasty! Not sure if I loved the chili crisp more than my usual brand but love to put it on everything.

  • Such an incredible chili crisp! A twist on the classic that’s become a new staple for me. The Sichuan pepper tingle and extra umami punch makes this a perfect addition to noodle soups, stir frys, or anything else you can imagine.

  • Fly By Jing is a modern, Chinese/East Asian spice company that packages different chili crisps for a modern, universal audience! If you are looking for a true classic chili crisp, this won't be what you're looking for - but if you're looking to add variety to your kitchen and be open to some culinary newness not completely bound by tradition, absolutely give them a try!

  • Numbing and spicy in all the right ways. It's less crispy than a Lao Gan Ma but much more spicy. I love their packaging, as well as the Zhong sauce. During the holiday season, they come out with mini tester sets which is fun if you want to try them all before you buy the bigger sizes.

  • Love this sauce. Great for cooking or used as a dipping sauce. Love putting it on dumplings!

  • The Szechuan Chili Crisp is good on literally anything… I love putting it on pizza, in my stir fry, noodles… it’s so delicious. Something I’m never without in my pantry!

  • I love Fly by Jing’s marketing and entire brand, but I just don’t love the flavors. I got the pack of different spices for my birthday and unfortunately I haven’t been using them all that often because they have a flavor profile that I don’t really enjoy on most things. I hope they make more things so I can purchase options that I love! For reference I don’t love Allspice or things with that sort of profile.

  • I just tried the sichuan chili crisp a few weeks ago and it's absolutely fantastic!!! The spice level is perfect and the texture is exciting for every bite.

  • The Sichuan Chili Crisp is nice both in cooked dishes and as a topping - I’ve mostly used in stir fries and noodles. Nice texture and subtle, not super spicy flavor.
