D.S. & Durga is a popular brand known for its artful, beautiful, and diverse fragrances. Customers enjoy the realism and fantasy elements in their scents, with favorites including 'El Cosmico', 'Bistro Waters', and 'I Don't Know What'. The brand is praised for its excellent customer service and creative product range, including air fresheners and candles. However, some customers find the fragrances less performant compared to others in their collection and the lack of individual samples is a drawback. Additionally, certain products such as their soap and hand cream have been criticized for not providing value for their high price point.

  • 'i dont know what' is my signature scent. every time i wear it i get stopped in my tracks by at-least one person. if i had a million dollars i would spend it all on the entire d.s. & durga collection

  • D.S. & Durga is my go-to perfume brand. Each of their perfumes is surprising, and I react strongly to them all, with some big hits and a few major misses. To me, that's the highest praise I could give a perfumer: given how personal scents are, perfumes should be divisive! Unfortunately, they recently discontinued El Cosmico, the perfume that made me first fall in love with the brand. It was an abrasive scent, chemical and masculine, with an undercurrent of Coca-cola sweetness. It made me feel chic and slinky and dangerous. Definitely not a perfume to wear to the office! DS&D, if you're listening, please bring it back! But Black Magenta, the newest addition to their permanent collection, is a worthy successor. It's a more feminine scent, but it's still very much a nighttime perfume. It's waxy and floral and sweet, without being too young. To be worn to the club in the summertime as eyeliner drips down your cheeks. Obsessed. The only perfume I own a full bottle of from DS&D is Radio Bombay, which is a really unique and coppery perfume for people who love sandalwood, but don't want to smell like every other girl on the street. It's not a "clean" or "skin scent" like many other sandalwoods--there's something a little dusty about it. A little bit rusty. I love this oddness. It's perfect for everyday wear. And then, their misses (for me): I straight up cannot smell I Don't Know What, a perfume which most people (including my boyfriend) absolutely love. Burning Barbershop, Notorious Oud, and Mississippi are all wayyyy too strong for my nose, and make me feel a little sick when I try to wear them. As others have said, almost all of their perfume can fade quickly, but I don't mind re-upping midday. I live in NYC, so I pop by the store every month to try their latest "studio juice" (aka, a limited edition scent), which tend to be a little more experimental than their main collection and never disappoint. I highly recommend buying a sample set if you can't make it to NYC to try these perfumes on. You'll want to spend time with the perfumes before committing. The sample set also makes a really fun White Elephant/Dirty Santa gift :) Finally, they make playlists on Spotify for all their perfumes! The playlists are atmospheric, well curated, and make genuinely interesting companions to each perfume.

  • Love this brand! Such a fun atmosphere when you shop there and such a pleasant product! Makes for the perfect gift in fact have gifted multiple *perfumes* and their cute *car scents*!

  • I love this brand. They make outstanding fragrances in perfume, candle, and care air fresheners. I love their notorious oud perfume and plan on buying a full sized bottle. El cosmico, cowboy grass, and debaser are really good too. The Big sur after rain and parquet leather candles make my day any day I light them. The limited edition pacific mythic was pretty fun too. I save the glass jars and use them for various purposes after I finish the candle. The car fresheners are pretty incredible too. I love the 85 diesel, big sur after rain, and portable fireplace are standouts. The soap and hand cream were a little lacking given the price point. I feel like I made a very expensive mistake. The website design is super cool and I love how much the principals love music.

  • I was out walking and stopped someone up ahead of me to ask what they were wearing and they told me it was I Don't Know What. I immediately bought it and it's my go-to perfume now. Strong enough to wear on its own and I love layering it with other perfumes as well.

  • This brand one of the hottest niche perfume houses and I’m a new stan. The only reason I’m not giving a full 5 stars is because the projection and longevity are not what I’d hope for at the price point. Projection is subjective and some people don’t want everyone on the street to smell them (I do). However I feel like most people would agree longevity is more important. Regardless, everything this brand is doing is IT for me and good enough to make me look past what I don’t like and just overspray the hell out of myself. I own Steamed Rainbow and Debaser and put I Don’t Know What on my Christmas list 🎄 The bottles are GORGEOUS and sleek and look great in my growing collection. Steamed Rainbow couldn’t be more aptly named. It smells humid, wet, and colorful. I love that the notes are in ROYGBIV order. I do have to squish the holographic sticker label back down a lot as it likes to lift up do to its holo nature. As for Debaser, don’t let the coconut note turn you away if you are not a coconut girly, which is not a note I go for ever. It’s not a synthetic coconut and honestly my nose doesn’t detect anything of the nature. She’s floral, green, and bright. Love her and def going to be reaching for her all summer.

  • I had been eyeing the I Don't Know What scent for months and months before I finally broke down and bought it. I had worn Le Labo's Santal 33 for years and when my last bottle ran out I was so over it and wanted to try D.S. & Durga but as a creature of habit, it took me a bit to finally bite the bullet. So glad I did. I Don't Know What is a much more lowkey scent than Santal in that people always compliment it but it isn't trendy in the same way. The scent lasts all day and I love having the bottle on my counter– it just has this je ne sais quoi, ya know? ;)

  • Went to the soho (nyc) location. Omg so beautiful. The smells transport you. My only issue is that the smell fades away pretty quickly.

  • I 've used "I Don't Know What" EdP for over a year now and still love it. I am also so impressed by a lot of other DS & Durga products; the auto fragrances maybe the most positive surprise of them all! They last for 4+ months minimum each. The absolute best thing about them is the very unexpected branding. Pasta water, pistachio, and all the new fragrances coming out look amazing.

  • Every scent is incredible. This quirky brand has bizarre fragrance names and descriptions (each fragrance also has its own playlist!) but somehow every scent truly does tell the exact story that the brand has written for it. The cologne I buy for my husband is called Burning Barbershop and the description is: “A fire broke out in the Curling Bros. barbershop in Westlake, N.Y. in 1891. All the shaving tonics with their spearmint, lime, vanilla and lavender burned. A charred bottle was found half-full. It smelled like this.” As bizarre as the description sounds when you spray the cologne it really feels like you have been transported to that barbershop and picked the bottle out of the ashes yourself.

  • EVERYTHING about D.S. & Durga is on point. Original, creative and playful branding? Check. Unique scents that people will stop you to ask about? Check. Long lasting perfume that plays well with body chemistry? Check. Seriously, my personal scent hasn't got this much attention since Santal 33 first dropped. Packaging also thought-out exceptionally well. Really gives you a satisfying feeling when cracking open a new scent, like an Apple product. Also it's all recyclable and shipping materials are biodegradable. Just yes. If I have to pick, "I don't know what" would my go-to D.S. scent but I also picked up a package of the car air fresheners/ fragrances. At first they are a overwhelming. Super strong. But man oh man do they last. Two months later and my car still smells like "concrete after lightning"

  • This was a blind purchase. I bought the "I don't know what" fragrance enhancer just based off the reviews and research I've done .I blind purchase a lot of my fragrances based off of reviews and typically I like 4 out of 5 of my purchase. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the smell of this particular fragrance. It is strong enough to stand alone even though its a enhancer. It's not bad but it's just not for me. I have not tried any other product from D.S. and durga so I cannot speak on the overall brand and could not say of I'm willing to try another product.

  • Artful perfumes, mostly real-world smells (but impressionistic) with a few complete fantasy/fictional fragrances. A lot of releases in the past year or so with a solid “core roster” of staples. Generally, I find their fragrances beautiful but not as…performant(?) as others in my collection. I guess nice-smelling things are worth having regardless. I like these fragrances more each time I try them. I’d suggest sampling a few times to properly evaluate. My current favourites are: • El Cosmico—dry, almost pine-like desert scent; • Bistro Waters—green, savoury, fresh; • Bowmakers—woody, spicy but not overwhelming; • Debaser—creamy fig with some wood

To the best of my knowledge, they don't sell individual samples, so you have to get the 4-pack.

  • I absolutely adore the DS&Durga products. Their sample packs are a great deal and they have a wide range of scents. I personally like Debaser and the roll on of I Don’t Know What

  • Excellent smells and excellent customer service. I particularly like Durga, Cowboy Grass, and Rose Atlantic. They also make air fresheners and car smells, which is quite creative.

  • In a love/hate relationship with this brand. I fell in love with their beautiful branding and photography but been very let down by most of their actual scents. The scents I do love are I Don't Know What: perfect "your skin but better" scent and their body wash and lotion are very heavily scented and stick to my skin after bathing which is ideal for me for perfumed bodycare. Jasmín Yucatan: Kind of biased since I love everything jasmine, I could wear just jasmine essential oil and be a happy girl. This is a very watery, light, candy-like jasmine. Totally immersive scent. Pistachio: I have no idea how anyone could say isn't a gourmand scent, it smells like straight up pistachio gelato to me 🤷🏾‍♀️. Love it. Also their Spotify playlists... 😘

  • I went to the Nolita location and the store staff were so lovely and very knowledgeable about each scent. I told them what I liked in a scent, and the first one they picked for me I immediately fell in love with! Then they gave me some similar options which were also wonderful. I tried (and loved) Coriander which lasted surprisingly well and smelled AMAZING throughout the day. Will definitely be going back!

  • Try the "I don't Know What" scent and get back to me. I am a firm believer that everyone needs to smell this divine fragrance (and as a bonus: it smells different on everyone).

  • When I first discovered this brand I was won over by their cool website and marketing - as a copywriter, I love their play on words and humourous approach. Branding aside, unless I'm able to smell the scents at a physical store first, I'm hesistant to order a perfume directly online and sadly, not so many places where I live have physical bottles. I did however end up ordering the 'Holy Ficus' candle. The smell is super nice and cosy for my home but the burning time really doesn't last as long as I would have liked. I have candles from H&M home that have lasted longer.
