Better Brand earns mixed reviews: the high-protein, low‑carb bagels and buns satisfy cravings and keep many buyers full, but texture and flavor divide opinion. • Giving this rating not because it's the best bagel I've ever had, but because it perfectly solves a bagel craving for me at a zero-guilt nutritional cost. I've eaten these a variety of ways, with cream cheese, as part of a breakfast sandwich, etc. and found that they work well for me toasted. They're breadier than a normal bagel for me, but with toppings I don't notice much. And whereas with some foods the taste/health tradeoff is distracting for me, that wasn't the case here, even if I know it's not quite my favorite bagel plain.

    Feedback

They do still taste a bit breadier or texturally less fluffy than a regular bagel. I look forward to trying additional flavors than plain.

  • I was skeptical at first, but the crunch won me over. The texture is spongey when it sits in your mouth (a bit stringy and dense like mozz). Definitely needs to be toasted and probably still needs a topping, but as a functional eater, this bagel is a game-changer for on-the-go eating.

    Feedback

Pre-sliced bagels would help prevent the burnt outside / cold inside combo. Especially since I freeze my bagels and have to heat them whole!

  • Happy with resealable bags and packaging design. Bagels toasted retained just a bit too much chew and slightly "gummy" consistency. Was still pleasurable to eat with a proper shmear.

    Feedback

Ease to achieve desirable toasted consistency. More flavors perhaps.

  • I have tried their bagels and buns, and really liked both. They have a denser texture and are more filling than regular bagels, but the protein and fiber content is very impressive. However, they are not found in any stores lately, and are extremely expensive online. I would love if they were brought back to retail stores (they used to be at Whole Foods).

  • Creating a 'bagel' with the carb content of one banana slice and sugar content of one stalk of celery is game changing. The formula and limited ingredients list really is impressive. But this is no bagel- it's a marketing tactic. It looks, feels and tastes like healthy bread shaped to look like a bagel. I couldn't eat it with just plain cream cheese, the flavor just isn't good enough. It's more well-suited with sandwich fix-ins or maybe an egg. For the price, I don't see this ending up in my grocery frequently. Packaging is very cool though.

  • The macros on these bagels are AMAZING, especially for a vegan product. However, there are much tastier vegan bagels available, with the tradeoff being the that the protein isn't as high. I tried the cinnamon swirl bagel. I let my Better Brands bagel thaw before putting it in the toaster oven, which took up a bit of time. Once heated and slathered in peanut butter, it just tasted....off. As others mentioned its quite spongey in texture (due to the vital wheat protein) and just doesnt taste good. It's also pumped up with fiber, I assume to reduce the net carb count. I eat a fair amount of fiber but these absolutely messed my stomach up. I'd rather drink my (vegan) protein shakes than try to stomach these sadly. I ended up returning them since I couldn't make it through 1 and they're quite expensive, even on sale.

  • I only give this brand 2/5 because I respect their efforts in creating an alternative to a food staple that some folks can’t have, and their unboxing was great. When BetterBagel was first released, I ordered it to give it a try. The packaging was engaging, fun, and excellently simple. I immediately threw the bagel in the toaster, and the first 2 hot bites were good! However, as the bagel cooled down, and I chewed through the bagel more and more, it developed this spongy, foamy, rubbery texture that I will never forget to this day. It was very unappetizing and i threw it away after a few more bites. Texture is huge for me, especially when developing an alternative to an already existing product. So Better Brand is not better for me personally.

  • For the macros these bagels have, they're so good. Definitely a different texture than normal bagels, but i love how well these keep in the freezer and how much protein there is in them.

  • Tastes just like a well made everything bagel, with great nutritional macros. Love the wide availability now, can purchase in Sprouts

  • These bagels are satiating, taste great (especially the everything variety), and are huge considering what "healthy" bagels tend to be. The stats are great and it's easy to fit in the fiber and protein you need with these.

Accessibility - I can only get these at certain markets and they're more expensive to buy online.

  • I love bagels! So I loved this idea and jumped on the Thingdrop as soon as I saw it. The box came and the packaging was lovely...however slightly over the top. Sometimes when a product seems slightly overpriced (granted I got a great deal on Thingdrop, but I was aware of what the full price was), I think to myself: "am I paying for the product or the packaging?" I love branding and work in brand-land, but sometimes get frustrated with how much people over-index on packaging and brand...like the product needs to be great too!! Anyways, I digress. Back to the bagels. I open this beautiful packaging and find a...bun? These bagels are missing the most bagel-y part of being a bagel: the hole! I was with my parents when I opened them and they both said the same thing: "that's not a bagel!" Well, again, I'm a substance person so I was like I'm not going to judge these suckers until I've actually tried one. Lo and behold, I was pleasantly surprised. They tasted decent and had a nice chewy texture. With some cream cheese, they were fab! HOWEVER I would not advise eating them untoasted. That was a weird experience. But toasted, they are fine. And toasted + spread of your choice, you'd think you were eating a normal bagel.

Would I call it a "better" bagel? Mmmmmmaybe? I don't know. To put it this way, I haven't bought them again at full price because I don't see it being quite worth it, but if they can get the price down and maybe spend a little more time on the product, I think they are onto something.

  • Great nutrition contents, packaging and ease of storage. My kids could easily grab and make their own meal

we live in a part of the country that has exceptional bagels, so it was hard to compete on taste.

  • I really wanted to like this product. Like others out there, I love the concept and idea behind it. But the product itself was a let down. First, it tells you to eat or freeze upon receipt. But what was not said - can I keep some out for a day or two? Will it go bad immediately? Unclear. I froze one 4 pack and kept the other out. I like my bagels sliced and toasted. These bagels weren't sliced, so that was an immediate issue (a little annoying, not a dealbreaker, although inconvenient for my now-frozen bagels). I lightly toasted my first bagel and the texture was a bit too chewy for my liking. I tried toasting the next ones more, but it didn't help. The texture is just...off. As someone who has been on an extremely limited diet, I get that options can be limited, so this may be the bagel for some people. We're at a point where "better for you" products can do a pretty good job of mimicking what they're the alternative for, so I think people will expect more from these bagels. Packaging and branding were nice, shipping was fast. Now maybe it's time to focus on improving the product?

    Feedback

It would be nice if the bagels were sliced. Texture could use improvement.

  • While the packaging and branding is sleek, the product itself does not measure up to its potential. The "bagel" has the texture of potato bread, with only the outside crisping up in the toaster. My family did not enjoy these-- if you're going to call it a bagel, it's gotta be a bagel.

    Texture and flavor of product

  • Found it at Gelsons and it tasted ok. The bagels tasted a bit bland but still was good.

  • If you are looking for a great bagel this is not the place. If you are looking for a healthier bagel alternative that you can feel good about then this is the place. I thought they toasted well and were not horrible.

  • these are...okay. It's pretty amazing how much protein they pack in but you can certainly tell these are not real bagels. They are somewhat on the dry / mealy side. LOTS of fiber so be prepared for that. i like the chocolate chip flavor. i hope they make a gluten free variety soon.

  • It looked like a bagel but did not taste like one. Almost like Kourtney saying she found it so satisfying just to smell the donuts. Maybe you can trick your brain into thinking you're eating a bagel but I couldn't. Aside from that, the taste itself wasn't bad and it is pretty healthy. Not worth the price.

  • Pretty good bagel, given that it's low carb and high protein. It isn't as "fluffy" or soft as a regular bagel, but it is to be expected given its nutritional label and macros. I found it to be very filling, unlike a regular bagel it makes for a very satisfying breakfast and holds me through to lunch. Sadly, the price is pretty steep so I don't consume them on a regular basis.

    Feedback

Eat the bagels right out of the toaster. I made the "mistake" of toasting one and packing it to eat a couple of hours after, while traveling, and the texture is really off when consumed this way.
