  • The texture was a little off for me. And for the price, I don’t think it’s worth it. I like that is healthier but I would rather just limit the regular stuff

  • Tried the brioche better buns and the macros on these are really amazing. Perfect low carb option for increasing your protein intake. Really high in fiber though, so I'm not sure about eating more than one in one sitting... Personally, I like the bland taste and the texture is very similar to that of a regular bun, just a bit more sponge-y. They get the job done, I'm a fan. I wish they could be a regular buy, but they are too expensive to justify them as more than a special occasion type food.

  • The unboxing was very impressive and made the experience feel very cool and special. I appreciated the instructions too since I would normally *never* toast a bagel but in this instance it did elevate the texture of the bagel. If I closed my eyes and someone gave me this bagel I would think it was a normal bagel. It's spongy and has a good flavor even without the cream cheese. Overall it's very tasty. If you go looking for differences between this bagel and another bagel, however, you will find them. People say the texture is a bit bready and I get that but I don't think it harms the overall experience of the bagel. If you really focus in on the flavor it tastes a bit protein-y too and is maybe a bit chewier than other bagels. But since it's supposed to be healthier that's not a big deal for me.

I don't really have too many qualms with the flavor but I think the bagels could look a bit more like a bagel, they are round but some lack the central holes. My main feedback is that in the future streamlining how they're shipped would be ideal. If this was something I ordered regularly I wouldn't need a grand unboxing and would probably want the bagels shipped in a tube of shorts versus a pouch. I'd love more formats of this technology in various bread products in the future!

  • tl;dr = If you've ever found yourself uttering the words "you don't know what a good bagel is" or "it's all about the NY water" then this bagel isn't for you. Full Review: I also sent a pack to my bagel aficionado brother (who also has experimented a lot with the "low carb/keto" friendly items and he said "It's by far the best 'non-carby' bagel I've ever had but...it's not a bagel. It's probably the closest you can get though without being a bagel"

It comes in a normal box with no special packing but asks you to freeze immediately once you get it which feels strange and curious how much it's needed and if I could just refrigerate it because another problem with it frozen is you absolutely need to cut and toast these so you have to do that strange semi-defrost first. Also If they did offer ones with seasoning like poppy or sesame seeds or everything seasoning it would definitely be a huge plus and help cover up some of the non bagel texture/taste. (but was overall way better than I was expecting

  • I was really hoping to love this. A bagel that is better for you and still very tasty sounds amazing! However, this product did not live up to my expectations. Now the packaging and design of everything is super sleek and pretty. But it is perhaps a bit misleading since the image of the bagel on the outside of the packaging looks very different than what I actually got. I honestly think the look of the bagels I got were nice- it reminds me of what they looked like in New York (they have amazing bagels over there) when I went. So I wouldn't have minded if the packaging looked like what I got, but I would have preferred some consistency either way. And when it comes to the taste and texture, it was very disappointing. I tried one fresh and I did not like it. And later I tried one toasted and that wasn't much better either. Sadly I could not call this a better bagel, as I would still much rather get a fresh bagel from a shop than this. Perhaps those that aren't as critical about taste and texture (and deeply care about their health) would like this, but otherwise, I cannot recommend it to anyone.

As many others have said, I think it would definitely help to have the bagels pre-sliced, as the package says they need to either be eaten right away or frozen. And from what I have heard, it is best to have bagels that are already sliced before freezing them so you don't have to cut a frozen bagel. But of course, the most important thing to me is the taste, so there needs to be a focus on improving the taste of the product so people would pick that over this one.

  • Fan of the brand, its mission, and its aesthetic, but overall, it was just OK for me. Was on the fence on the rating but rounded up. Shipping was fast (which usually is nice!), but it came on a day where I'd just brought home a bunch of pastries, so I ended up putting them in the freezer as the options were to either eat right away or freeze (why? not sure as the card that came in the box didn't give any explanation). Upon opening the bag, I noticed that most of the bagels were hole-less — the only one that actually looked like a bagel was the one I photographed, which wasn't quite what I expected (wasn't mad about it though). The bagels were on the smaller side, and since they were frozen, I opted to microwave, slice in half, and then toast. The bagel texture is spongier and chewier than a "regular" bagel. Dressed the bagel up with cream cheese, onions, capers, and smoked salmon, so the bagel was more of a vessel than the main star, so the bagel taste wasn't too noticeable through those stronger flavors. For the nutritional benefits, I'd eat it again, but at its price point, I don't think I'd buy them on my own.

The brand comes off as a more premium product, where the bagel bag and the other packaging were nice. However, the inconsistency in the bagels didn't quite fit that vibe. It would also help to include tips on how best to experience the bagel as the packaging only included storage information.

  • Good unboxing experience and fast shipping. The actual bagels however, were underwhelming. I toasted them per the instructions but the texture was still very unpleasant. It starts out spongey, and then the more you chew it becomes chalky.

I support the founder's overall mission to create a healthy alternative to traditional bagels, BUT I was super bummed and put off by the fatphobic messaging ("eat freely without the fear of weight gain") on the insert included in the box. Something they should really consider rewriting. Image attached for reference.

  • Thing only thing really positive about this bagel is the nutrition facts. However for thr unsatisfying taste, I would prefer a regular bagel. I tried the Cinnamon Swirl and found it to be dry and lacking in flavor.

  • Some products are meant to be healthified. Others are not. At least, not if Better Brand is doing it. I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this product, but... save your money and enjoy a real bagel. Carbs won't kill you. I was excited when the delivery came, as the packaging was sleek and delightful. I felt like a proper social media influencer while opening it. The excitement stopped there. When I actually opened one of the bagel bags in my package, bagels I did not see. Instead, I saw hole-less bread rolls. Seriously -- see the included image. I noticed the instructions on the packaging recommended toasting the bagels for best flavor and texture, but I figured I would first sneak a bite untoasted. The way I tore off a corner of the dense, spongey material was anything but sneaky, though -- I really had to muscle it. Upon popping the bite into my mouth, the flavor and texture hit me instantly. Neither bore any semblance to what I have experienced with every other bagel I've eaten in the past. I was tempted to toss all eight bagels into the trash right then and there, but I stopped and reminded myself of the virtues of giving second chances. I grabbed a bread knife, muscled through the (notably unsliced) bread roll, and popped the halves into my toaster. A few minutes and a slather of butter later, I ventured to take my next bite. I braced myself for the worst, and it was... better! (But what *isn't* made better by butter?) Still, though -- it was nothing near something I would actively enjoy eating. To finish the remainder of the bagel, I doctored it up with ricotta, mozzarella, pesto, spinach and prosciutto -- some real heavy hitter toppings. It was, naturally, much better -- but still, not because of the bagel itself. The next day, I gave it another shot -- this time toasted and with PB&J. The experience was the same: The condiments carried all the weight, and the bagel did nothing but drag them down. Finally, let's talk about price. I bought these bagels with a hefty ThingTesting discount code, but the unit price still came out to about two bucks a pop. Without a discount code, this pricing would be obscene. Please spend your money elsewhere -- or at least wait until Better Brand's products get, well, better.

Taste, texture, shape. But mostly, taste and texture.

  • The branding and intention of the brand was really exciting to me. Visually appealing and fun play on being health conscious. That being said, the taste of the bagels was disappointing, as well as the texture. It has to be toasted in order to taste ok - it’s really just a vessel for cream cheese or spread and I wanted it to be more than that. I’m not sure that the price to value is here.

This might be counterintuitive but even though the packaging is visually appealing It makes It feel mass produced/processed and the bagel looks like that. Perhaps consider playing up the fact that this might not be the case. Also if the product is really best when toasted maybe It would be better to pre-slice and freeze if shipping to certain areas that can’t eat straight away.

  • Better Brand Bagels are delicious! The bagels nutritional specs definitely had me curious. They have a total carb count that’s equal to 1/2 an orange, only 1g of sugar & 26g of protein. And when I tried it without toasting it, the texture was a little spongy (not bad though) and as soon as I toasted it, added cream cheese, etc — it tasted just like a regular bagel except better for you! Super yummy & filling. I also love that it’s an Asian female-founded company!

More flavors & a gluten free option in the future would be awesome!

  • I absolutely love better brand, for someone who is avoided bagels for a long time these really taste just like the real thing. They are quite expensive, but they’re not something you can easily make it home. They have a great taste on their own, they can be a little chewy, which I don’t mind. However, if you toast them, they have the same bite as a normal bagel. I tried pretty much all the flavors and I can’t complain about any of them. they are extremely high fiber, so they may upset your stomach a little bit.

  • Best product to hit the market for fitness vegans. Literally the perfect way to start the day and super macro friendly.

    More flavors!

  • Given the nutritional profile these are pretty good. That said, I would completely remove the taste of the original version from your mind. It will NOT taste like a bagel or a Hawaiian role, so try to taste it as an isolated product and not compare it to anything.

  • The macros on these bagels are AMAZING, especially for a vegan product. However, there are much tastier vegan bagels available, with the tradeoff being the that the protein isn't as high. I tried the cinnamon swirl bagel. I let my Better Brands bagel thaw before putting it in the toaster oven, which took up a bit of time. Once heated and slathered in peanut butter, it just tasted....off. As others mentioned its quite spongey in texture (due to the vital wheat protein) and just doesnt taste good. It's also pumped up with fiber, I assume to reduce the net carb count. I eat a fair amount of fiber but these absolutely messed my stomach up. I'd rather drink my (vegan) protein shakes than try to stomach these sadly. I ended up returning them since I couldn't make it through 1 and they're quite expensive, even on sale.

  • Creating a 'bagel' with the carb content of one banana slice and sugar content of one stalk of celery is game changing. The formula and limited ingredients list really is impressive. But this is no bagel- it's a marketing tactic. It looks, feels and tastes like healthy bread shaped to look like a bagel. I couldn't eat it with just plain cream cheese, the flavor just isn't good enough. It's more well-suited with sandwich fix-ins or maybe an egg. For the price, I don't see this ending up in my grocery frequently. Packaging is very cool though.

  • Found it at Gelsons and it tasted ok. The bagels tasted a bit bland but still was good.

  • Texture is great after it’s toasted. Reminded me of a regular frozen bagel. Taste is a little bland, definitely needed cream cheese. The nutritional values are great. So overall for a low carb, high protein bagel it’s a good product. But if you aren’t used to that much fiber it can be uncomfortable for the first few days. I recommend eating just half a bagel until your body adjusts to the fiber.

  • These bagels have been a game-changer for my morning. Typically, I get hungry about an hour after breakfast, but with the bagel I can get to the afternoon before I'm legitimately hungry again. The texture is definitely not bagel-like, but given the satiety factor and the macros, I can work with it. You do need to toast it until it's crispy (almost burnt) and add something to it, whether it's light butter and an egg, avocado, cream cheese or laughing cow etc. It's more of a vehicle for toppings than an actual "bread" if that makes sense. My favorites are the plain, the everything bagel, the cinnamon, and the sesame. For the gluten-sensitive folks, I cannot recommend the gluten-free version :( The texture is wet cardboard, doesn't toast well, and has a bizarre aftertaste that no topping can overcome.

  • I bought the everything Better bagel with extremely low expectations, as I didn't really comprehend how a low-carb bagel could breach the realm of existence. However, after toasting it and giving it a try, I could hardly tell a difference between Better and other store-bought bagels. Of course, the difference is more evident when you compare these to, say, a fresh bagel from a bakery. Better Brand creates a bagel that's slightly chewier and airy compared to its denser and fluffier bagel shop counterpart, but the 25g of protein per bagel made it all worthwhile. Also, an individual bagel has a whopping 33g of fiber. Sensitive guts, proceed with caution. Now, the price also makes this purchase a bit of a commitment, especially if spending over $2 for a plain bagel to you sounds a bit absurd. I got 4 for $12 at Sprouts (but it's $16 online for some reason?). At this price, I personally won't be having one everyday, but the Better bagel is nice to have around if I want something quick without sacrificing my protein intake for the day. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be buying them again.
