Reviews mention

  • Sleek minimalist aesthetic design
  • Lightweight hard-shell construction
  • Smooth-rolling 360° wheels
  • Thoughtful interior compression system
  • Easily scuffed exterior surfaces
  • Occasional wobbly telescoping handle
  • Inconsistent zipper or mesh durability
  • Heavier, dent-prone aluminum shell

Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.

  • I love my Away Bigger Carry-On. I've never had any issues carrying both domestic and international flights. It's lightweight, has a ton of space, and has held up great over the past four years. I haven't traveled with checked luggage since I made the switch to Away.

  • I mean it's Away... what else can I say? The price, great. The product, great. And it overall looks incredible. I love the travel cubes for organizing inside my carry-on. I also use an away backpack as my daily driver and I'm a huge fan of how thoughtful the product design is overall.

  • Design, quality, inserts. I've been really pleased with my bag.

It's probably over-priced for what it is. The hard plastic marks up pretty easily.

  • This is a great suitcase, but the zipper gets stuck, especially around the corners. I've only used it once, but it was durable and had minimal scratches. I also like the color, but it's not as vibrant as it looked on the website.

  • Love the size on these and they move with little effort

  • I've had my Away carry on bag for over 3 years and use it multiple times a year. I fly often and have been impressed with it's durability. I never use the charger, as every airline prohibits it but otherwise it's a great product.

  • Just had the most incredible getaway at Away The Large! 🌿✨ This place feels like a hidden gem, nestled in nature with stunning views that take your breath away. From cozy nights by the fire to adventurous hikes through lush trails, every moment was filled with relaxation and wonder. It's amazing how unplugging for just a bit can rejuvenate the soul. Highly recommend if you're looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle! Can't wait to come back already. 💚

  • Away has completely redefined travel for me! Their luggage is not only sleek and stylish but also incredibly functional. The quality is outstanding—lightweight yet durable, with well-designed compartments that make packing a breeze. I love the built-in charger for my devices, which has come in handy during long flights and layovers. The designs are modern and come in a variety of colors, making it easy to spot your bag at baggage claim. Plus, their customer service is top-notch, offering great warranties and support. Away has truly set the bar for travel gear, and if you're looking for high-quality, travel-ready luggage, this brand is a must!

  • The Away Carry-On is a total game-changer for travel! The sleek design is not only beautiful but also incredibly functional. It’s lightweight, yet durable enough to handle all my trips. The interior is thoughtfully organized, with a compression system that makes packing a breeze and a hidden laundry bag to keep things tidy. The 360° spinner wheels glide smoothly over any surface, and the optional built-in USB charger is a lifesaver for keeping devices powered on the go. Plus, it fits perfectly in overhead compartments, making it the ideal travel companion. If you’re looking for a carry-on that combines style, durability, and smart features, the Away Carry-On is worth every penny. Highly recommend!

  • I have several of the travel duffels. I hesitated purchasing for some time because of the price and every duffel I’ve owned has torn, broken or otherwise ruined. So glad I finally took the plunge - have traveled by air, boat, bus, train and car with it and looove it. I have the middle size and it fits enough for 4-5 days. Buy this bag!

  • I purchased the carryon in a light blue as a gift around 2018, and that person travels a few times a year (4x?) and it has held up really nicely for them. My personal belief is that Away really changed the game for cool and practical/useful luggage, and that's why the competitor market is so full. I appreciate that they stand by their products, but overall try and see what works for you. (I'm also someone that believes checked bags should be affordable, because they get abused the most. Love a good carryon though)

  • Suitcase is functional and nice looking. Charger is a good idea if u remember to keep it charged before traveling.

  • I used to work for Away so I have an unbelievable number of bags. They’re just really good suitcases! Idk what else you want to know. If you have questions ask me. I think the bigger carry on is a genuinely life changing product but as with most components of travel, it’s all about confidence when trying to get it on the plane. No one needs the large unless you’re moving, there’s no way to pack it and have it NOT go over the weight limit sorry. Get the medium and a BCO. The new design looks sexy, I’d go for those. Love it.

  • I love how this bag fits so easily and carry-on for in state to travel. I do think it’s annoying that you have to make sure the battery is out and it is not international carry-on, friendly

  • I wanted to love them as I loved the branding, design and D2C approach as I agree the big luggage brands are way overpriced. There is a gap in the market for affordable yet decent quality in luggage. Unfortunately I don’t agree that Away is worth the price either and I wonder why they don’t invest a little more in their quality. The rolls, the lining and overall quality are basic. I went back to Rimowa as I don’t want to fear my luggage breaking while I’m traveling.

  • I use it often! I bought a Bigger Carry-On when my old janky suitcase finally gave out. I use my Away suitcase pretty often (I travel at least once a month) and it has held up well in the almost 2 years that I’ve owned it. I use it without the battery because it can be a hassle to keep popping it in and out (sometimes when I check the bag I need to be mindful of the battery for safety reasons). If I could go back in time, I probably wouldn’t have purchased this again because I think there are similar ones on market at a lower cost. I think I got sucked into the hype and was willing to pay a premium for the marketing/appeal, but I now see these everywhere and the design/usage feels generic and a little bland nowadays.

  • Away is my standard for luggage now - ive used it to travel, grocery shop, move laundry and move apartments. It's endlessly durable and sometimes they have really fun artist collabs.

  • Fun colors and I can attest that these are virtually indestructible- I’ve taken mine on at least a hundred flights. I bought one for my husband and brother and did have a zipper issue with one and a handle issue with another, but it was actually super easy to get sent replacements for free!

  • I rave about my away bag. I don't know how, but I swear I can fit like 25% more in this bag compared to other luggage. This suitcase has lasted me 4 years and it's held up well with age, the dark-green color has a few scratches at this point but that's to be expected with the amount of travel I've put it through. I travel frequently for work and this bag makes it so easy to get around. I love the full range of motion and the overall design. I know it's an investment, but the quality and design are worth it.

If you're considering the type of bag to get, I have the larger carry-on and have taken it abroad a few times with no problem. I'm also grateful I didn't get the travel battery add-on. A lot of my friends have it and it's a hassle to take the battery out when checking their luggage and overall, doesn't seem to have been worth it.
