  • The Yoto Player is a bit hit with my kids. There are so many different nonfiction and fiction options. We also have the headphones which come in handy when they want to listen to the same thing for the fifth time in a row. Yoto has great customer service. Our charger stopped working and they promptly sent a replacement. Also, my kids have been pretty rough with the player and it has survived alot.

  • We got the Yoto Player for our 4 year old son in December. It has been used every day since we got it. It travels with us for weekends away, longer trips to visit our family. Our son LOVES that he can control what story he is listening to, where he is starting from, skipping ahead to, and the volume. The dials are very user friendly, the battery life is great (I’ve had 1 instance in ~75 days where it died) and the app is great for parents (set max volume for day/night, alarm clock, etc).

Content: I wish there were more stories available in other languages. They have all the classics, but I wish there were even more disney/marvel/mainstream stories. Yoto has Frozen, all the Toy Stories, Finding Nemo etc, but it would be awesome to get more modern disney stories and more superhero things for our 4 year old. The stories are expensive, but for example, my son has listened to Finding Nemo at least 30 times, so it's about $.33 for over an hour of entertainment every time he listens to it and I should get even more value out of it assuming he doesn't decide he hates nemo (which is always a possibility with 4 year olds). Maybe they could implement a rental program like streaming services do? We bought Brave and my son hasn't listened to it once. Player: I wish the device was a bit smaller - we have the regular size one, but there is a mini so maybe that solves that problem.

I tried Yoto’s audio player with my son and it’s a great way to cut down on screentime

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE! This is so better than the other brand it grows with your child as they age and if your kid doesn’t like a card you can return in!

  • My daughter loves the Yoto player. Very easy for her to navigate and use. Shes dropped it countless times and the rubber padding of the small version protects it. The ability to creat custom cards alongside professional content cards is cool.

  • My son has had the Yoto mini for the past year. He is 3 1/2 years old. The ease of use of the controls, the sound quality, and the variety of material available to purchase are all excellent. The "Make Your Own" cards are great for putting together musical playlists with favorite songs.

  • Liked this so much we bought it twice. Our eldest now 8 still uses it regularly to listen to stories before bed. Our 5 year old likes choosing what to listen to without constant oversight. We’ve enjoyed the daily podcast as part of our get ready process for years now.

Only complaint is that to use well, you need the internet. This has proved impossible at a series of hotels where we do not have direct access to the router. There is a workaround- physically putting the card in, but even then sometimes it glitches. On the balance? Worth it.

  • I loved the customized cards to insert to set a great vibe for the kiddos. You can relax on the couch and just list or cook dinner while learning something you never knew

  • We are obsessed with our Yoto! My 4 year old plays stories and music on it throughout the day and sleeps with it every single night. We have the bigger version and it's still very portable. He takes his everywhere. I also really love the card club membership because it feels like Christmas every month to my little one when he gets the new cards in the mail and it makes them way more affordable. With all the technology options out there for kiddos these days, this is by far the best purchase we've made.

  • Best thing we ever purchased! Our son is neurodivergent and having a Yoto Mini with so many great stories and songs is just such a win. He loves everything about it and so do we. We’ve been Yoto Club members since we bought it and that’s a MUST as well. Excellent customer service, build quality, and the card catalog keeps getting better!

  • We love our Yoto. The kids were introduced to the Beatles in an engaging way and it's helping us expand our musical library in a meaningful way that's much more tolerable than Baby Shark on repeat.

  • LOVE Yoto so much. Bought it as a gift for my nieces ages 4 and 6, and once they can agree on what to listen to - it's plain sailing from there. It is quite expensive, however the positive impact is has on learning along with the child's autonomy operating the player balances that out -for me at least.

Great product, amazing gift! Expensive (particularly if you're buying new cards) but worth it IMO. Would reccommend!

  • YOTO- the life saver!! So many great features to this. My kids love this, I love this! The timer is amazing, Jack the podcast is funny! And with the build your own cards we have been able to feel closer to family by having them read books while recording and then load those onto a card and have grandparents read our kids books- all on the YOTO. Really, such an amazing product- we are over the moon for this one.

  • Fun and useful for the little one!

A mode where it locks the button functions would be helpful

  • We bought the Yoto player for our 6 month old baby. We know she is not old enough to enjoy the stories but it is so many features that we decided to get it. It has a radio with stations from all over the world so they can be exposed to different languages. There are so many podcasts that I can’t wait until my baby is older to enjoy listening to them. It has a color light that you can program to turn red at a certain time so they know it is nighttime and schedule it to turn green in the morning so they know when it is okay to wake up. And it has sleep sounds! From white, brown, pink noise, to many different sounds from nature. We speak 3 different languages in our home and we love that we can get cards in English, Spanish and French. With technology today is hard to prevent kids from looking at screens all day. After doing research on the effects of screen time on kids, I was looking for something to keep them entertained that did not involve a screen. I have recommended this product to many people and they all have good things to say about Yoto. 11/10 would recommend you get this for your kids. The Yoto club is a subscription that allows you to get 2 cards shipped every month. Almost all the cards I’ve wanted to buy are not included in the yoto club. I would not recommend getting the subscription. I’ve had to edit this review at least 3 times because I keep remembering features. Once you buy the player, you have access to everything on your phone. The app has a copy of all the cards so you can play them while you are in the car. It also allows you to control the player directly from your phone. You can turn it on/off or choose what to play even when a card is not inserted in the slot.

  • we love Yoto in our house! My 3 year old likes to pick his own stories and listens to them at night. I love that it can be something played in the background during quiet time or more interactive with activities. Not to mention it is very cute and easy to use. Highly recommend for anyone who loves books and wants their kids to have an option that’s not an ipad and also who doesn’t want to read their favorite story 500+ times 😜

  • We use these at the hospital I work at and they are such a great, safe device for kids with so many uses. They are easy to use and the sound quality is solid. Particularly love that you can record/download audio files onto blank cards so they can be customized.

  • I chose this audio speaker for my son since I was afraid he would lose the cards. If he does, it doesn't matter since it's already saved on the app. Other companies dont have this option. He loves listening to the thunderstorms every night. They have other soundscape options as well. We've purchased several cards already which he loves. We also listen to the stations available to hear songs and daily activities. I think it's a great product and he will enjoy it for years to come.

    Making the buttons easier

  • I love the physical product. Our 1.5 year old can play her own music and choose the songs. The cards are very durable and fun for her to switch out. Wish the knobs were labeled - took us a while to figure our what they did. The playlist creation process could also be easier - you have to upload MP3s. Who has MP3s anymore? Spotify integration please.

  • I discovered this via ThingTesting and it is the single most used toy that my 6 year old has now. We've had ours for nearly a year and she uses it daily. She has only asked for her iPad a handful of times since having it and her imagination is flourishing.

Would love to be able to listen back to the daily radio shows that have previously aired.

  • I had such high hopes that my son would live this screen-free alternative. He loves storytime at night and I hoped this story reader would entice him to stay in his room for a little longer in the morning. However from first glace, my boy wouldn't even look in it's direction. I tried to entice him, saying how fun it was and I wanted it for myself, but to no avail. I wanted to love it so bad, sorry but it was returned. Maybe other children will absolutely love it, but sadly not mine.

I felt the buttons were a bit hard to learn and not intuitive. Also wish there was an option to have no lights showing (not even the nightlight).
