Yoto earns strong reviews as a screen-free audio player that genuinely engages kids with durable cards, intuitive controls, solid sound, and a deep catalog of stories, music, podcasts, and sleep sounds. Reviews also flag drawbacks: content can feel limited in certain languages and franchises, card and catalog costs add up, some buttons and unlabeled knobs confuse first-time users, reliance on Wi‑Fi can glitch on travel, and playlist creation lacks modern integrations.

My daughter loves the Yoto player. Very easy for her to navigate and use. Shes dropped it countless times and the rubber padding of the small version protects it. The ability to creat custom cards alongside professional content cards is cool.

I love the physical product. Our 1.5 year old can play her own music and choose the songs. The cards are very durable and fun for her to switch out. Wish the knobs were labeled - took us a while to figure our what they did. The playlist creation process could also be easier - you have to upload MP3s. Who has MP3s anymore? Spotify integration please.

I discovered this via ThingTesting and it is the single most used toy that my 6 year old has now. We've had ours for nearly a year and she uses it daily. She has only asked for her iPad a handful of times since having it and her imagination is flourishing.

Would love to be able to listen back to the daily radio shows that have previously aired.

I had such high hopes that my son would live this screen-free alternative. He loves storytime at night and I hoped this story reader would entice him to stay in his room for a little longer in the morning. However from first glace, my boy wouldn't even look in it's direction. I tried to entice him, saying how fun it was and I wanted it for myself, but to no avail. I wanted to love it so bad, sorry but it was returned. Maybe other children will absolutely love it, but sadly not mine.

I felt the buttons were a bit hard to learn and not intuitive. Also wish there was an option to have no lights showing (not even the nightlight).
