  • Potential gi discomfort

SmartSweets earns largely positive reviews as a lower‑sugar candy that satisfies cravings—standouts include Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, red twists, and gummy worms—while recurring complaints in reviews cite an extremely sticky, tooth‑clinging texture and occasional odd or stevia‑like aftertaste. Reviews also note inconsistent chew across flavors and batches, plus some GI sensitivity for a few users; if you want a healthier candy fix and can accept a different chew, SmartSweets is a compelling swap, but purists may prefer the originals.

  • I like the taste when I get a good package but one problem I've been experiencing is that sometimes the gummies taste stale, are stuck together, or have a really strong alcohol sugar taste. I think this is more so for peach rings as their gummy worms usually taste fine.

  • I like this brand but only the ones you get from Whole Foods. They have some different ingredients and the whole food ones just taste so much better than the ones you buy it any other store.

  • I like their products- they taste good and have good flavors but they are expensive and the bags are always a disappointingly small amount. I imagine there are people who need their brand of low sugar but with so many candy options I opt for a little less pricey!

  • A fun snack and pick me up! Sourmelon is where it’s at!! I’ve read the packaging and the whole concept about allulose. These are good alternatives but I’m not sure if the selection is extensive enough for me to purchase on every occasion.

  • I've been eating SmartSweets for years — considering how often I consume them, it feels wrong to only give three stars. The mixed feelings can be summed up as such: the flavors are great and it's gratifying to have a higher fiber, low sugar alternative to candy. It does truly scratch that itch for me. BUT, I find I very much am tolerating their biggest drawback: they stick to my teeth like no other. Pros: Fantastic flavors! Their sour candies are actually sour, which is a huge plus for me. They have sweet, fruity, and sour options to cater to different preferences. Although they're definitely not a 1:1 match for the candy they try to emulate (and I didn't expect them to be), I found myself continually reaching for more. Con: These are among the stickiest candies I have ever eaten, up there with Milk Duds. I find myself needing even to occasionally abandon decorum and stick my finger into my mouth to free chunks of candy that are stuck to my molars. Otherwise I completely tire out my jaw trying to unstick candy using my tongue. While this might not be a deal-breaker for everyone, (including me, obviously), I do find this aspect of the product annoying. My personal workaround is I've found myself sucking on the candies, and just chewing them very, very slowly, as that seems to have a preventative effect to it sticking on my teeth. Overall, SmartSweets are a fun, tasty, healthier low-sugar alternative to traditional candies. They use alternative sweeteners like stevia and allulose and can help people craving candy scratch that itch without spiking their blood sugar. But, it comes with a big caveat that this is an EXTREMELY sticky candy.

If you need a low sugar alternative to conventional candies and don't mind very chewy, sticky candies, this might be the thing for you! For me, I'd love a reformulation that was less sticky to the extreme.

  • Smart sweets are ok if you need to satisfy a craving for sweets in a pinch, but they just don't taste very good. The gummies are kind of tough and the sugar tastes artificial (think "crystal light").

  • Well portioned

Wish they would use non-sugar sweetener. The texture isn't as bouncy than regular candy.

  • My mother introduced these to me, as she and I both have a sugar problem. The sweets are perfect for my sugar cravings, and I like all of the options available. Of course they don't always taste exactly like their sugary equivalents, but they get the job done!

Some of the gummies have a super chewy consistency that gets stuck in your teeth. Improvement on this would be better.

  • I'm sorry but these are nasty. I tried the Swedish fish like ones and they tasted like cardboard. Maybe it was the ones I bought or something, but these did not taste good at all and I would not repurchase.

  • Smart Sweets are okay. I do not like the taste of fake sugar or Stevia, so these are not a good alternative to candy for me. I do like that they have a large candy variety, but I wished I could get passed the fake flavor.

  • Peach rings are my favorite sugary gummy candy. The version from SmartSweets are very tasty and I feel great enjoying these as a better for you option! These fill the craving without the extra calories.

  • These gummy candies are very addicting while also having less sugar than typical gummy candies. It tastes just like the original peach rings, but has a slightly less sticky consistency. I would recommend it.

  • I am absolutely obsessed with the Smart Sweets gummy cola bottles. My only complaint is I wish the individual packages were a little bit bigger because I guzzle them in about 3 minutes and it's expensive for such a small pack.

  • LOVE these. I have a huge sweet tooth and really love gummy candy and can eat so many of them at once. Alas that is not healthy, but with smart sweets I totally can do that without consequence. They taste exactly like the normal kind

  • These are the best little snack and cheat code for eating candy. They are literally healthy Gummies and have good ingredients in them and they even have fiber. I love that they taste like a treat, but are better for you.

  • These are so good. I have a major sweet tooth and these keep me feeling less guilty about indulging in that and knowing that the ingredients are good as well helps because a lot of artificial dyes and such give me migraines.

  • SmartSweets are a solid option if you’re trying to cut back on sugar but still want a candy fix. The concept is great — low sugar, high fiber, and way fewer calories than traditional gummies. The peach rings and sour blast buddies are probably my favorites in the lineup. That said, the texture can be hit or miss. Some flavors are a little too chewy or rubbery, and there’s definitely a bit of an aftertaste with the sweeteners. Also, for the size of the bag, the price feels a little steep — you don’t get much for what you pay. I’ll still grab them occasionally when I want a sweet snack without the sugar crash, but they’re not quite a perfect replacement for the real thing.
