SmartSweets earns positive reviews for genuinely tasty, low‑sugar takes on nostalgic gummies like Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, and Red Twists; it satisfies cravings and often avoids “fake” sweetener aftertaste. Reviews also flag real drawbacks: many candies are extremely sticky or tough, flavors can be inconsistent with occasional stevia/allulose aftertaste and GI upset, and portions feel small. Overall, SmartSweets is good if cutting sugar, but texture quirks and formula variability make it a compromise for purists.

Been loving these as I’m trying to cut back on sugar and processed foods. My husband is a candy nut and he is OBSESSED with these. It’s hard to keep them in our house
These were a Target impulse buy. I bought the gummy bears, peach rings, and gummy worms. All were very good. They are almost indistinguishable from their sugary (and delicious) counterparts. A little pricey, but worth it.
Having a low sugar option to treat a sweet tooth is great, these just don’t hit the mark for me. If the package is close to expiration chances are the candy is going to be so hard and pretty much inedible. The fish are probably the best tasting
SmartSweets were better before they changed the recipes to be lower in fiber but I’m glad they did it because an entire days fiber from one serving of candy is not for me! I love to eat the peach rings and the sweet fish when I have a strong sweet tooth but have already had enough sugar for the day. The textures and flavors are definitely not exact replicas of the iconic candies they are imitating but they are still pretty yummy. The caramels are the closest to the real deal out of all their products.
I have tried about four or so different flavors and have been disappointed with all except for one- I LOVE their peach rings! Granted, they get super sticky and stuck in your teeth (more than the usual ones, I feel like), but the flavor is really good and of course, I like that they're lower in sugar. It's a great concept, but the execution hasn't been consistent among their different candies.
Feedback
It almost might be better if they created their own candies, instead of modeling it after well-known ones. It makes it difficult when it doesn't match up in terms of flavor and texture.
I sometimes reach for the gummy worms in the target check-out line. They're good, but let's be real– nothing beats the real thing!
Very tasty sweet candy products.
If you’re a candy lover but want to keep things a bit healthier, you should definitely check out SmartSweets. They’ve managed to create some seriously tasty candy with only about 3 grams of sugar per bag, and they use natural ingredients like stevia and fruit juices. The flavors are spot-on, and remind me of classics like Swedish Fish and Peach Rings. The texture is a bit chewy, which might take some getting used to if you’re used to traditional candies, but the high fiber content—around 28 grams per bag—is a nice bonus. They’re a little pricier than regular candy, but if you’re looking for a guilt-free candy, SmartSweets is definitely worth a shot!
I had been buying these for my kids (and myself) for years but after they changed the formula they were never as good. I would buy a ton if they brought back the old ones.
Hate to say it but they’re just not that good. If you have a craving for candy, you can try and pretend that they’re the sugary processed kind. They still aren’t so great for you and the texture is so off.
The gummies stick onto your teeth which I don't like. It might be having better ingredients but the aftermath of having sticking gummies between your mouth is not good.
I've been tempted to try this brand for years due to hearing influencers talking about it. A few months ago I decided to purchase a bag of gummy worms. They definitely were not sour but I did enjoy them. For the price, I don't think I'd buy them again though. Due to the ingredients in the gummies I did feel "healthier" by knowing it was a good alternative to other candies but I just think it costs too much for my budget.
Yum
Tasty!
The best candy that is good for you as well to satisfy those sweet cravings.
At first they replicated the taste better well but the aftertaste was pungent and off putting. Not for me, but I can see it as an alternative for some people
While you can definitely tell that these are a healthy alternative, they make a great substitute. The sugar coating isn't my favorite as I found it has a slightly powdery texture, but I'm sure for most that wouldn't be an issue. I usually buy packs that don't have the sugar coating and love them!
Smart Sweets make healthier version of your favorite childhood candies. Over the years, their formulations have improved to better mimic the candies they are looking to emulate. While their large bags are consistently soft and fresh, their smaller bags have more variance. Some bags contain much firmer, almost stale candy, but newer versions have proven to improve that. Overall, the fish and ring varieties are good, but are a safer bet when purchasing in larger packs.
They taste terrible and I like anything vegan
They just didn’t do it for me. I love that they are low calorie, but the flavor and craving was not satiating.
