E.l.f asserts real performance in reviews: Power Grip Primer, Camo Concealer, Halo Glow, and Brow Lift win praise for long wear, grip, and flattering finishes, while wide shade variety and cruelty‑free, vegan formulas impress. Reviews also flag inconsistencies—hit‑or‑miss formulas, sticky primers, creasing concealers, some products drying out or lacking longevity, occasional irritation for sensitive skin, flimsy packaging, and smaller product amounts—making the brand strong for staples and experimentation but not flawless.

I like how affordable this brand is. I think for the price point, the quality is great. They offer such a variety of products, with pretty good color payoff. My only issue is that some of the products dry out before I get to get the chance to use them.

10 points for cleaner beauty. I found their foundation to be a bit thick for my skin, but I would love to try again as I'm sure there's been product developments since I first used their products.
Purchased the Elf Halo Glow Liquid Filter as a "dupe" for the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and it was just $14 from Target vs. $40. I used it under my regular foundation and then I also used it as a highlighter with tinted moisturizer and... it was great! The applicator is a large doe foot brush that holds a lot of product and can spread easily and precisely across the skin. I can't believe the similarities of the two products and the have since opted to go for the Elf version.
I’ve been using this brand for years and love it.
My mother loved this brand and so do I, they have never failed me in creating the softest color palettes that go great with dark skin or the red lipstick that I used to wear with all my favorite dresses,
Great option for primers and other items like liquid blush (esp. the ones you hear about are "dupes") for an affordable price. I find myself reaching for their tools, as well. I now check if they have a similar product of another product I'm considering.

Lately (2024), I have been finding elf products to be of much higher quality and efficacy. I used to use elf makeup when I was in middle school ... 10 years ago... and I definitely noticed a difference once I switched to brands like Nars, Tarte, and Benefit. But, having just finished a bottle of their primer - I have noticed major improvements!
I use the liquid eyeliner and it’s good price with fair quality. I would say if you want a sharp line, the head of the brush is a bit softer than the other ones that are firm. But overall the price is good and I would keep on using it.
I really love the setting spray. Great price, large product size, and it genuinely works!
Amazing company, with amazing effective products. I would highly recommend. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Great brand
AFFORDABLE love how they dupe every expensive high end product. I love all the dupes
Cookies and cream primer makes me want to eat my face

e.l.f. lip products of some of my go tos, especially the liquid lipstick. Pink Lemonade was my absolute necessity for a purse or makeup bag for years.

I used to live down the block from their NYC store in financial district. Always affordable and great quality. An absolute staple in my routine
Actually such garbage quality, looks really cheap on the face and has plenty of harmful ingredients.
I've always been such a big fan of elf. As a teenager their makeup was all I could afford and try out. They have such good quality for the amount of money you spend. I have used them for years and always repurchase. I am someone who doesn't wear makeup a lot so for special occasions elf is the perfect buy. They have done a really great job of evolving over the years and duping other brands for less expensive!
Affordable makeup, love the lip gloss and the primer/ foundations. The brushes are high quality for 2-3 dollars, cant go wrong !
I've tried a few products from e.l.f. and I'd say you can tell that they're drugstore quality, but it's great for basics on a low budget if you're not picky. I tried a bronzer and it looked muddy on my face. I think they're trying to be a little too "one size fits all" in that regard with a lack of tone options. I also tried a liquid eyeliner and it bled into my skin so it was hard to get a clean line. Overall it wasn't the end of the world and I'd probably use the brand if I wanted to save money.

The primer and concealer are the best, they are affordable and so creamy, and work quite good on my makeup. They have stores on all around the world so it is a big plus that I could go to the store to choose it.
