Reviews on Prose’s website have a higher average rating compared to reviews on Thingtesting.
Prose earns strong reviews for its personalized hair and skincare that often deliver softer, shinier, more manageable hair and calmer, hydrated skin, with many noting reduced frizz, cleaner-feeling scalps, and bouncier curls—especially with the Pre‑Shampoo Scalp Mask, Custom Shampoo/Conditioner, and Curl Cream. However, reviews also report misses: formulas that feel heavy or drying, minimal results versus drugstore options, scent sensitivity, and recurring complaints about subscription management; some users even cite increased shedding or irritation.

I don’t think I saw a huge difference and it was really expensive. I also tried the face products and definitely didn’t see a different
I loved the personalized experience of ordering r the products but for me personally the products themselves were not what I was hoping for- that being said I have mildly wavy hair so I wonder if it’s a better fit for someone with more texture!
Smells great!!

Smelled great but unfortunately didn't work for my hair. I have thin fine hair, live in a dry environment and My hair still felt dry.

Wasn't a fan of the final product that was created for me. Made my hair super greasy. Asked for a refund and they weren't willing to provide one.
I hate to say it but I actually thought this was going to be so much better than it was, super lackluster for my hair at least. However my best friend has had amazing success with it so maybe it just depends on the hair needs. I have dry hair and good products really moisturize and keep it healthy. I tried the Prose shampoo, conditioner, pre shampoo, and nourishing oil but none of the products have made any visible difference, or even textural, on my hair. I will say their packaging is amazing and it's fun to have products in the bathroom with my name on them great marketing strategy.

Great for my sensitive skin.
I’m only a week into trying their shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask, but my hair is really soft! My hair feels less moisturized than with other hair masks, and the price is pretty high for an alright experience.
I have mixed feelings for prose. I love their look, love the idea behind it, and love the smell of their products. They are quite pricey for what they are though, and while the custom formula is a fun idea in theory, in my 4 years of testing different formulas I feel like I never nailed it perfectly for my hair. The skin care line was terrible for my skin - it left my face super dry and tight and left a tingling sensation on my skin that made me not want to use it anymore.
Did the customized Prose package - found it to be good, but didnt see a real change in my hair. It is very expensive compared to buying higher quality shampoo and conditioner at the store. I found myself just wanting to use it up.
I love the idea of Prose and use the shampoo/conditioner weekly. Great smells and leaves my hair feeling fresh. I do wish there was a way to easily switch up scents and even get personalized hair product for different zip codes to take on vacation.
I go back and forth with Prose. I have used it on and off for about 5 years and while my formula has changed, and I think their questionnaire is very good, I have never noticed a huge change in my hair.
I can't believe how well these three products are working for my skin. Trust me, the quiz is worth taking because it feels like these products are ACTUALLY made specifically for me (because they are). Highly recommend giving Prose a try. I got this complimentary from prose.
I got the shampoo and conditioner from prose for my straight, thin hair that I’ve been struggling with for the past couple of years. The quiz you take seems to ask some good questions and the customization of the product is a very cool concept. I think the products are good, I can now get away with only washing my hair 2-3 times a week, and smell great. My main issues are with the subscription program. While you do save a little by choosing it, I thought it was odd that the longest you can set the frequency to is 3 months (I realized this is because the product best by date is 3 months out, maybe because it is made to order?), but using that much product in only 3 months was never going to work, especially since my goal was to wash my hair less frequently. I thought I would just skip the next shipment when needed. Then three months went by and I was notified of my new shipment, without even a heads up email that it was planned to go through. I let the order go through, but ultimately cancelled my subscription since it’s been over six months and I’m still not through my first set of bottles. I know that’s on me, but I’m a part of a few subscription services and usually get notified before a new order goes through. Not sure if I’ll buy again once I’m through the stock I have now.

I’ve really loved my prose products! They make my hair feel cleaner and easier to style than some of the other shampoo and conditioner brands I’ve tried on my fine, curly hair.
Awful awful customer service. Took 6 attempts to cancel my subscription. Not worth the hassle and they were always sending things I didn’t want with what I ordered.

Even though I ended up stopping my subscription, I really enjoyed Prose for the few years I had it. The shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner all worked great, and I appreciated the customization aspect. The one issue I had was with the digital product. Once, they sent me an email saying I was eligible for a free product, and then they followed up saying they'd sent that by mistake. That didn't make me feel valued as a customer. I was also skeptical once they started moving into the skincare realm.
I liked it at first but then it began to break me out. It’s also expensive to keep up with
Tested it at my moms and actually loved the concept! Super cool.
I have very thick, wavy hair that tends to be dry and frizzy due to highlighting. These products have helped a lot with making my hair feel softer and easier to comb through, but didn't really help with the frizz. The products are expensive, but since I only wash 2-3 x per week, one shipment of shampoo/conditioner lasts at least 6-8 weeks, and I have been using th same bottle of leave-in conditioner for months. I did find it difficult to access directions on how to use some of the products, like the hair mask and curl cream, as the directions aren't on the packaging.
