Reviews mention

  • Powerful clarifying shampoo efficacy
  • Lightweight, glossy hair oil
  • Sophisticated, memorable fragrances
  • Chic, minimalist packaging
  • Overpowering fragrance intensity
  • Occasional residue and buildup
  • Drying clarifying formulations
  • Cumbersome thick-product packaging

Ouai impresses in reviews for effective detox shampoo, weightless-yet-smoothing hair oil, and evocative scents like St. Barts and Melrose Place, confirming the brand works for deep cleansing and soft, shiny results. However, multiple reviews flag overpowering fragrance, residue or dryness with continued use, hit-or-miss styling (especially Wave Spray), and packaging issues with thick conditioners—making performance and scent tolerance highly hair-type dependent.

  • I have only ever tried the heat protection spray for my hair but I love it! It’s the only one I’ll use now. It dries quick for styling and smells amazing. I only give 4 stars bc I wish they had it in travel size. I can’t bring it with me when I travel abroad.

  • The detox shampoo is a hair saver. Every product smells so good. I love how rich the leave in conditioner feels too. It feels like being at a fancy beach spa.

  • The Dean Street fragrance is my favorite clean perfume EVER!!!! It smells so so good and I love to use it to layer with other perfumes! I would buy a detergent in this scent!! It’s just that good!

  • I love Ouai!! Great smelling and great working products. 10/10 recommend to a friend.

  • Products came in nice packaging, with a lot of padding. The products smell so good, and my hair has never been this silky.

It's pricey to constantly use as an everyday product for my budget.

  • Okay, don't laugh but... my first experience with Ouai is the dog shampoo. Did I really drop $30 on dog shampoo? yes. Does my dog smell like she just came home from the spa at The Ritz? yes.

  • I tried their dry shampoo and immediately returned it. It has an incredibly strong floral scent. If you like gender neutral or more subtle scents this might totally put you off. In terms of formula I also think Living Proof's product is so much better.

The smell is so strong of rose. Even just something that isn't so floral would be better.

  • Their products are either phenomenal or just okay. No hard misses so far for me. The hairspray is my go-to and I absolutely love their mousse dry shampoo. I really didn't think I would like it but it's grown on me. More than anything I love that the brand offers mini/travel sizes for almost all of their products.

  • I’m using the hair oil and not sure if it fried my hair or what but my hair is super dry despite using the oil, no product has ever made my hair dryer than it was before this. Lol.

Products that work for all hair types, more affordability for their target market (young 20s women) would be nice.

  • Think the brand is a little overhyped. The wave spray didn't do too much for me to be quite honest, no noticeable difference and it made my hair sticky. Dry shampoo is alright but nothing revolutionary for the price they charge in comparison to other brands.

  • first time using this oil - love it. absorbs super quickly and really moisturizing. smells great.

  • Love the smells of their products. The salt scrub is magic. The detox shampoo is quite good. And they have a hair crème that I got in a Sephora kit that I still think about. Oh also body cream— excellent. I don’t want too much smell in my body creams but this one is both subtle enough and strong enough to satisfy.

  • I’ve enjoyed all the products I’ve tried from Ouai. They smell good and don’t weigh by hair down. It is a little pricey but I don’t mind spending a little more on quality hair care.

  • I have used Ouai Sugar Scalp and Body Exfoliant for over a year now. I have repurchased the product three times. I really enjoy the light, pleasant smell, which is unusual for many exfoliants that are typically highly fragrant. The scrub left my skin and scalp feeling clean but not stripped.

Overall I love Ouai however I wish the scrub had a better lid that prevented less moisture from getting into the container. As it is sugar it could get watery.

  • So far I've been able to try their texturizing spray and pomade and I absolutely loved both. Definitely a reason that it's marked as luxury and looking to try some more of their products next.

Would love if they offered a sample (or travel pack) of their products but haven't come accross one yet.

  • I want to say I like it but the smell is way too strong for me! It competes with my perfume and I feel like it lasts daaaays even after showering!

    Feedback

Scent strength? Is that a thing?

  • I've only been able to try Ouai's Twist line, and personally, I'm loving it. Affordable, beautiful, great copy, and good ingredients.

Oh man, their product dispensing bottle pumps are horrible. Please please look into fixing this.

  • While the products are super cute and the branding and marketing strategy are on point, the products I have tried were underwhelming performance wise.

  • Their wave spray is amazing. It helps my hair feel so nice and smells luxurious. I could wear it as perfume. 1000/10

  • I've had a good enough experience with all of the Ouai products I've tried, but most of them don't make their way into my daily rotation. The scents are truly unmatched.
