Kiwi Co's subscription boxes are loved by children for their fun, educational and interactive hands-on projects. Parents appreciate the quality and design of each project and the thoughtfulness of the toys. However, concerns have been raised about the amount of plastic waste generated and the lack of a good gifting process. Some customers also feel it is overpriced and that the projects could be more engaging.

Kiwi Co crafts deliver fun and educational projects for kids, fostering creativity and learning. With diverse themes and age-appropriate activities, it's a hit for both children and parents seeking engaging, enriching experiences. Been ordering it since 4 years old when I started to play with her, and now she can read the instructions by herself and accomplish the task!

We LOVE KiwiCo! Their crates are so creative and well done. They contain all of the materials needed for the project plus a wonderfully detailed and beautifully designed instruction booklet, and all of the Doodle crates and some of the Tinker crates come with a link to a video tutorial you can watch. I hardly ever subscribe to boxes or products on a monthly service, but KiwiCo is an exception. (You can also try it out by buying a single crate from their store.) They also ship internationally if you want to gift this for someone who is abroad, which we did. Has also been recommended by Wirecutter as best subscription for kids and I couldn't agree more - one of the few startups that I feel are truly innovative and offer an exceptional product.

Their platform often has bugs, and I've had difficulty checking out on a couple of occassions. Also, while they have a decent selection in their store, you can't buy all of the crates you get, so even if you particularly loved one, you might not be able to gift it.

This is cool and fun for kids but it is over priced in my opinion.
I signed up for their adult art box because I was really excited to do something with my hands that was creative and fun.

Unfortunately, the first activity I received wasn't something that I was interested in so I ended up cancelling it. I wish you could buy the experiences as kits versus getting something random.

Fantastic, creative concept that offers a wide variety of options for various ages and interests. Love that it's so hands-on and engages STEAM topics when most "technology" these days is just another screen. Overall, really pleased with it!
Feedback
Bit more control/input over what comes would be terrific as the interests can vary quite a bit amongst my kids.

I have purchased a few toy for children under 3 years of age - zoo pairing puzzle, color wheel racers, and rainbow ball run. So far I really love the quality and thoughtfulness of the toys. They also came very quickly even around holiday time! My goal is to find beautiful, safe, age-appropriate learning toys. KiwiCo seems to check those boxes. It feels like I can trust this company, and I will be returning to buy more as my child learns and grows.
Got a year's subscription for a friend's 3 year old and they both always have a blast doing the projects together. These projects are fun and teaches the kid about different topics and has given them something to do during the pandemic.

We’ve been long time subscribers for the kids, from the youngest level to tinker now. The kids really look forward to these arriving and enjoy building them, but I’ve noticed more and more that they’re less engaging, take less time to build and are quickly out of the play rotation. Lots of plastic pieces also. Used to be worth the money, now I feel like that’s no longer the case.
My daughter got a Tinker Crate subscription for her 10th birthday and loved it so much she asked for it again for her 11th. The projects are clever and while I'm not sure she's learning anything she enjoys it.

Maybe video explainers instead of the booklets?
Fun project for the kids. Used with my 4 and 6 year old. There have been a few projects/crates that my kids have played with over and over. But, many of the projects/crates are used once and then forgotten about. I'd like to see an every other month subscription vs monthly - perhaps that would spark more interest.
I got this for my daughter when she was younger, we got several of the boxes actually. These were fun activities. The price was comparable to what I meant. Been another toy for the month and gave her something to do.
My mother got a subscription for my daughter as a gift and she LOVED them. There is nothing more fun for kids to get mail/packages that they actually want every month. I was continually blown away by the quality and design of each and every project that arrived. They were always interesting, educational and usually very durable long after they were made. The reason we no longer get them as she's now too old but she still has fond memories of the projects. If you're on the fence, I'd say go for it!
Kids loved it! Great content and well executed by age/stage appropriateness

Feels like a bummer when kids don’t connect with it. Like a lost kit.
TBH I did not find this brand myself. My sister asked me to gift this to her kids. It went down a treat! Also, I needed to adjust the order after I paid for it and the customer service was terrific.

Not sure since I only experienced the order side.
We received an annual subscription as a gift for our son. These kits are great! My son always asks to do crafts now as soon as the box arrives. He has loved nearly all of them. They are fairly high quality too and hold up well to toddler play.
I ordered a one-off birthday gift for my 4 year old niece and she absolutely LOVES it! Loves it so much she won't let her little brother touch it...woops! I chose the cake mixer set, which comes with a beautiful wooden cake mixer and selection of fun ingredients to make the 'cakes'. It also comes with recipes cards which encourages reading and maths but makes it fun. I loved that the cardboard box turned into an 'oven' such a nice touch.

I live in the UK, my niece lives in Australia and the package was shipped from the US, so it would be great for orders to be fulfilled more locally.
My kids got this as a present from their grandma and it was so successful that we ended up subscribing on our own. 9/10 boxes, my kids love!

The company should be more communicative about how/when a recipient graduates from one type of box (Koala, Kiwi, Atlas, etc.) to the next. Once they feel they've outgrown a type, it's hard to keep them engaged. It should also come with recommendations on how to store all the little creations! :D
These boxes are so fun! They have clear instructions, all of the materials, and keeps children occupied for quite a while. Would be great as a gift!

Really great options for interactive/hands-on projects for kids! The projects also give kids an opportunity to learn how to construct an item such as a journal or latern.
I ordered this as a gift for a friend who has twin boys. 1. If you do this, you will have to tell the recipient about the gift yourself. Kiwi Co. will get the goods out but they don't have a good structure or process for gifting. A couple of months of mystery boxes arrived. 2. The boys absolutely loved it. Raves from the kids and the parents. It was a gift so of course the parents are going to say nice things once they knew who to say those things to, but kids that age (3's) not yet fully trained in social graces and the kids were even more enthusiastic than the parents. If you have kids in your life, do it. They grow up SO FAST. You will relish everything that takes you out of your routine and gives you experiences together when the TV is off and the phones are too.
