I really love using their custom shampoo and conditioner. And their hair serum. Definitely one of my favorite serum and I tried a lot of brands. Their shampoos are great really helped with my sensitive scalp and gave so much volume to my hair. I also really enjoyed changing my hair goals, scent and the color as seasons change.

I never received my merchandise

I'm really surprised to read some bad reviews about FOB. I get mine from Target and add in different booster shots depending on the season. The price is actually incredibly reasonable if you buy them from target and add mix ins yourself. I love the smell and it always leaves my hair shinny and smooth. I have long fine hair that has a subtle wave to it, I've tried both the straight and wavy formulas but the wavy works best for me.

I've been using Function of Beauty for two years now. I love the idea of customizable products that have a no-dye and no-fragrance option, however I usually pick the peach scent and I really love it. I alternate shampoos so these do last me a long time. The only downside is the price but overall, this is a quality product.

I received a box of their full product line for free and shared it with some of my friends. I think the products are great, I regularly use the shampoo / conditioner and the face serum. The leave in conditioner also smells amazing.

I'm super picky on shampoo and conditioner. While I found this incredibly fun and affordable, I wasn't a major fan. I finished my bottles and tried a different formula but again, it just wasn't for me. I hope to see their line expand.

Get the shampoo and conditioner and you won’t be disappointed.

I received the bottle a little spilled, but that could be from traveling rather than the bottle. When cleaning off the bottle, the next day I still could smell the shampoo. The shampoo scent is on the stronger side, so I made a joke saying you can leave it next to you in your room as a candle. I do like the scent even if it is strong, because it smells of citrus with peaches. When applying the shampoo to my hair, it gives some bubbles but not too much that it will get into my eyes and tingle or burn them. The first time I decided to not use the extra serum they put in the shampoo, to see different results. I noticed my hair in both felt soft on my ends but with the hydration booster shoot included my hair also gave a gloss effect. When washing my hair out from the shampoo, I can smell the fragrance from the shampoo for two days. The only thing is I learned to use rosemary shampoo on my scalp, and then the rest of my hair the function of beauty shampoo because this method leaves my scalp not itchy. This only happens to me since I have eczema dermatitis on my scalp, which likes to one day fine and then the next time flare up of flakes. My scalp wasn’t thrilled with the fragrance. I had in the past fragrance didn’t make flakes appear on my scalp, it was just strong.

Unfortunately, their hair care did nothing for me. It left my hair feeling really oily and gross. :(

Overrated and full of terrible ingredients that ended up damaging my hair long-term. Don't be fooled by the packaging!

I tried this brand when they launched at Target with the customizable base shampoo and conditioner and the add-on pods. I found it a bit hard to choose between the various add-ons at first, but eventually settled on two or three for each product. Overall I was pleased with the performance, but I have no idea if the boosters really made a difference. I also liked the scent.

It’s fun in theory, and there’s no downside to the products, however I didn’t notice any difference from regular products. If you’re looking for changes in your hair, I wouldn’t recommend. However if you’re in it for the experience, go ahead and buy it!

Tried shampoo and conditioner but wasn't very effective and I ended up changing to another shampoo/conditioner as my scalp was dry after using. Loved the scents.

This was bad. I bought their wavy hair care routine from Target and will be returning it. Leave in conditioner is really important to keep my dyed hair from shriveling up into a bird's nest. Although the Function of Beauty leave-in conditioner smells heavenly, my hair dries completely disheveled. I'll be returning this, having spent the past few days with Function of Beauty induced scraggly hair.

wouldn't purchase again. the promise of custom shampoo is alluring, but the product failed to do anything more than the shampoos and conditioners from the store, while simultaneously costing much more (30 per bottle or more)
