I tried function of beauty earlier this year and was actually impressed by its value for price! I’m not too sure whether the add ons actually make a difference but the shampoo itself was good! The value for price is great and I did like the packaging as well!

My absolute favorite curly hair shampoo! It is so moisturizing and does not dry your hair out at all. Does not make your hair greasy and keeps it fresh. I pair it with the matching conditioner and it keeps my hair nice and smooth!

While i love the product and think it can do wonderful things for your hair I do find it inconvenient that you cannot just walk to the store and pick some up.

I do nottttt like this shampoo. I bought the Bond Repair Custom Shampoo for Wavy, Damaged Hair from Sephora during a sale, so I got it for $12 (11oz size) instead of $24. I also added Frizz Genius, Color Savior, and Moisture Shot concentrates, which I got for $2 each (instead of $4). I am very glad I didn't pay full price for it. Firstly, you need a lot for it to lather properly, so the bottle won't last very long especially if you wash your hair more than twice a week (which I usually do - but by day 3, usually I have to dry shampoo my hair). Also, there's something nice about a bit of lather when shampooing your hair, so I certainly miss that. Second, it has no scent, which I think would be nice (even faint is fine, but no scent?? I want to smell GLORIOUS after my shower!). Thirdly, my hair is still very dry, and I do not see any signs of damage repair. I also feel like this shampoo makes my hair even more wavy and frizzy (my hair is normally very thick, medium/long length, formerly bleached, and usually has a gentle wave). It just doesn't feel nourished after using this. Lastly - at first I thought the bottle/dispenser was cool, but now, I am over the novelty of it. The top gets a bit icky if you don't rinse it off completely afterwards. Pics below.

I've tried the shampoo and conditioner in 3 different formulations and they all sucked. The appeal with this brand (besides the packaging) is custom hair products that you basically design based on your hair concerns or priorities. I purchases 3 different formulations and didn't like any. With the first one, it felt like my hair was thickly coated in product, to where when I blow dried it, it would remain oily. With the first formulation, I contacted support and they suggested adjusting some of my hair concerns. New batch shipped and same thing. I contacted CS again, adjusted again, and again... the same. I've never had a shampoo/conditioner feel this icky. I wound up using the remaining shampoo as a body wash and conditioner as a shaving cream. The absolute only thing I liked was the colorful products and ability to customize things like smell and color.

I have used their wavy hair shampoo and conditioner for the last 4 years. I love the way it helps my hair become wavy and soft. I love the fact that I can customize each bottle to best suit my hair goals.

After hearing a lot of great things about their customized hair products, I was excited to try them out for myself. Even though I customized my products to be moisturizing, the shampoo and conditioner I received left my hair feeling dry and stringy. I did love the fact that you could customize the scent of your product and hope that more companies may offer this in the future, but the products themselves were sub-par, at best.

I love this product. My hair is naturally very curly and never in my life have my curls looks so defined. The online quiz is super easy and I always receive my product quickly. The only drawback of this product is the scent/color range. I wish the brand offered more natural scents/colors, but c'est la vie!

Absolutely horrible, I canceled my subscription and some way some how they still sent a delivery and charged my account. You can't get ahold of anyone. I tried to email. I tried the chat option and nothing. Do yourself a favor and don't get tangled up in this company.

This system has done such wonders for my hair! I started with damaged hair and my hair is slowly becoming more and more healthy each wash

Love these products ! I have very oily hair and always struggled to find the right shampoo. With this one, on the other hand, the texture and smell is wonderful. No more oily scalp for the win.

I loved Function of Beauty! I tried got to choose all the attributes of my shampoo-- I wanted volume with shine and split-end repair. I also got to choose the scent and the potency of the fragrance, which was amazing because i loved heavily scented products! The shampoo and hair mask worked beautifully! My hair was voluminous and shiny and the simplest packaging looked lovely in my bathroom.

I enjoyed the products I received. I love the ability to customize the product to your liking based on your hair type and/or concern. It definitely worked wonders on my color treated hair.

Pro: -Customization: Cool scents, choose your own scent level, Cool color options and packaging -Convenience: less time searching for specialized products for my hair type Cons: -Expense: Three 16oz products (Shampoo, conditioner, and go wash) cost $79.98 pre tax - Slow shipping: I ordered March 26th, it shipped March 9th The quiz is fun and I appreciated that they do the hard work of selecting proper products for your hair type. I’ve used the product once and it left my hair hydrated and smelled great. I’ve used cheaper products and gotten similar results. I’ll see if I see any additional benefit with longer term use. I’m not sure if I’ll order again, especially with the recent price increase. Unrelated, they shipped me 3 pumps, but only one straw attachment. :(

I first ordered in late October 2022. My order didn’t arrive on the expected delivery date of 5th December and I could see by the tracking it had not left the USA and the last update was early November. Customer service confirmed this order got lost in their post and offered me either a refund or replacement and I chose a replacement. Thankfully this order arrived in January 2023 but unfortunately it arrived without the free gift I was supposed to receive with my original order. There was a promo at the time of ordering. So that was disappointing. Have only used once. Can’t comment on quality yet but I did order the strongest scent of floret and coming from a person who finds strong smells overwhelming, the strongest scent is not very strong for the floret scent.

My hair was dry and brittle and no volume. No matter what I used my hair never looked healthy and clean. I have used it twice already and I am loving it my hair is soft, shiny, and bouncy.

I love my shampoo and conditioner. The things that I love about this brand is that firstly, it caters to your hair type, you get to pick what you want the products to do (such as anti-frizz, colour protection etc and then you get to pick the scent and the strength of the scent) I went for the sugar & spice(d) with strong scent, which I absolutely love.

My hair has never been worse. I have super curly hair and bought the curly conditioner and my hair is in knots. It’s a nightmare. I’ve never had this issue in my life

I first started using function of beauty over lockdown in 2020. I couldn’t get to the store to purchase new shampoo or conditioner and thought that the idea of hair products cultivated specifically for you was such a great idea! I have curly hair that I straighten often so my hair is a bit damaged. When I first started using the products it was great but as time went on it stopped benefiting my hair and I had adjusted to it. It was no longer helping with what it used to. I think the brand became a bit more impersonal when it started it’s collaboration with Target. My best advice is to continue to buy through the website as I don’t think the in store mix your own products work as well.
