Fly by Jing delivers bold, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments that, according to reviews, elevate everything from eggs and noodles to dumplings—Zhong Sauce and the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp draw repeated praise for layered umami, balanced heat, and everyday usability. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: some find the chili crisp too oily, less crispy or milder than expected, with occasional smoky bitterness and jar leakage—plus comparisons to Lao Gan Ma or Momofuku on flavor and spice—and some mention inconsistent crunch and a need to stir.

Really great flavor -- use it to spice up food I make that ends up a little bland. Great on eggs, rice, veggies, etc.

fly by jing's chili oil is delicious. not too oily (i know a silly point to make but sometimes the oil to spice ratio is waaay off) and decently priced for how much product you get. my favorite item i got was their hot pot set! a fantastic gift for a friend as it had the pot, the burner, utensils and a soupbase for around $100! this was purchased around the holidays. but my friends loved it, especially since my area is not hot pot friendly.
Very crunchy and full of flavor. I can see this being good with some pizza 🍕drizzle. I didn’t feel like it was extremely spicy. I also used it very light to avoid a possible overheat 🙂. I think for the price point you get a good value out of it.

I like it a lot if you’re putting with pasta noodles or ramen, can even add a touch to your breakfast eggs! I was trying to replace sriracha with this but for one who cares about calories it is high and very oily but overall good.

Fly by Jing's Sichuan chili crisp is about as close to traditional Chinese hot oil sauce as you can get at your usual grocery store. Both Target and Whole Foods stock a few varieties in my area. I like the flavor and taste - moderate heat with a good blend of chili peppers and oil. The ingredients are also all natural (which is great for food safety and health, but may be why the price is so high). Just a tiny bit goes a long way, so you can use the bottle for several months.

A healthier chili oil, less chemicals. Definitely a go to fry eggs in, top avocado toast and soup dumplings. Just a little drizzle brings a lot of flavor.

I was skeptical initially - after paying $3 for LGM chili oil my whole life, $10+ for this sauce seemed steep. Oh boy, was I wrong. This stuff must have crack in it, because it is addictively good. I switch out sauce packets with my noodles and opt for this. I put it in my dumpling sauce. I put it on my eggs. I make my protein bowl post-workout upleveled by drizzling it on my quinoa. I put it on tofu. It is SO GOOD and so versatile. I don’t have a major tolerance for heat so this version is great - the other ones would be too spicy for me. You have to stock up on this stuff. Yum!!!!

Way too spicy for me.
This Zhong sauce from Fly by Jing is great when it comes to taste, sweetness, spiciness and texture. It was just what I was looking for to add an extra kick to my weekly stir fry. I have even used it as a dipping sauce for my grilled chicken. Absolutely love it! I just wish it were easier to find in my local grocery stores.

I love this brand and I've been happy to see them blow up more in the last few years. Every one of the chili crips I've tried has been amazing and I've turned numerous friends onto Fly by Jing. The flavors and heat levels of their crisps are excellent — they remind me of ones I've had travel around Asia. The jars are also a good size for the price, which is a little higher than other brands but well worth it.
Way too spixey for my palate.
I got the sample pack. They were all good but the Sichuan Chili Crisp really stood out. Absolutely delicious.
Wow! This stuff is amazing! Can’t believe I just recently tried for the first time. A little spicy, but adds so much flavor to my Asian dishes!

What truly sets them apart is the commitment to high-quality, all-natural ingredients, ensuring each product is tasty and free from any unnecessary additives. From the rich, complex taste of their Zhong Sauce to the fiery kick of the Sichuan Chili Crisp, Fly by Jing is a must-try for anyone looking to add some genuine zing and depth to their cooking—a definite five-star experience for those who appreciate the art of pleasing, flavorful condiments.
The chili crisp is a great addition to plates and recipes. It has a nice amount of flavor and manageable amount of spice. We love to add it to eggs, wings, stir frys, etc.

The Chili Crisp is good, but doesn't hit the same as classic Lao Gan Ma. Given the stark price difference, I couldn't justify repurchasing Fly by Jing's Chili Crisp. I have also tried a couple of their cooking sauces, which were generally pretty good, but would generally rather make my own sauce due to the pricing.

Listen, y’all. I didn’t want to become a loyalist to a $15 chili crisp. I swore I was happy with LGM. Then thingtesting told me to buy it and get refunded. I devoured that jar and have bought it twice since then. I even have a backup jar in my pantry right now. How did this happen??? It’s so good and thick and just tastes so much different than the other chili crisps on the market. Most importantly, it STICKS to noodles. My noodles turn a beautiful dark red color and you can taste the chili crisp in every bite where other ones just went to the bottom of the bowl. I love this on Trader Joe’s whole wheat noodles with carrots, peppers, green onions, garlic, and ginger. I’m also anxiously waiting for summer so I can add it to mayonnaise for my Georgia tomatoes on mayonnaise and sourdough snack. Thanks for getting me hooked, thingtesting!!!
