chelle body reviews say the brand can work for smoothing skin and reducing ingrown hairs for users who learn the ritual, but many reviewers find the exfoliating stone ineffective and the canvas mitt awkward to use and store. Buyers should expect visible exfoliation for some users and a satisfying mitt, but also a steep learning curve, fragile/crumbly tablets, and hygiene/storage concerns.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
I'm a little confused by this product, even though it initially seemed pretty simple to me. The exfoliating stone doesn't really seem to transfer to the mitt or do much, so this product is essentially just running the damp mitt over my skin which didn't feel like it was doing too much to exfoliate. It's a really great concept, I'm just not sure if the stone does its job. Unfortunately, I don't think I would buy this again or maybe I would just use the mitt with a different exfoliator.

I liked trying this because I did notice softer skin after use - I don't think I would buy it again because I don't know how to properly store the items, I don't want the mit to get mildewy and the tab can't sit in the shower. I loved the after-effects of the product after use and found that wonderful, no scent which was also great, and although it doesn't "foam" up I can still tell it is working. I am glad I tried this product.

So I don’t have any truly negative but this was a very ho-hum product in my experience. The bag/glove does not seem to be an effective exfoliation tool and the level of froth from tablet was less than ideal. I do believe there is potential in the product being refined or perhaps the shelf price being dropped a bit, but at this moment this is not something I’d buy again or recommend.
Feedback
Overall this product sadly misses the mark, but future refinement could lead to a better next iteration.

I really wanted to like this, but the product is not user-friendly and did not make a difference in my skin (I've used it twice—which isn't a lot—but the product falls apart every time you use and through trial and error I am already out). I appreciate the branding and even the message, but $30 is a steep price for such an underwhelming product. Like another reviewer mentioned, you are not "shedding" dead skin. It's just the stone falling apart and the product sloughing off on the mitt. This may be the worst Thingdrop I've tested, and I wish I hadn't spent money on it.

The branding is nice. The product itself is a simple canvas mitt and the polishing stone. The stone is unscented. I followed the instructions; the stone is difficult to rub onto the canvas mitt and it's hard to tell how much product you're getting on there. The mitt itself doesn't stay on your hand (would be nice if there was an adjustable drawstring or something to tighten around the wrist), and you have to rub your skin pretty aggressively in order to see anything happen. I can't imagine how you're expected to use this on your back or shoulders. They have videos on their website showing "dead skin" sloughing off as they use the mitt, but the "dead skin" you see is actually just the buildup from the chalky/clay-like skin-colored stone you just rubbed all over the mitt and then onto your skin. This seemed obvious to me before I even used it but to confirm I pinched a bit of the product directly from the stone and rubbed it between my fingers, it was the same as what was appearing on my legs when using the mitt. You shouldn't (and don't) need a polishing stone to rub away the dead skin, the canvas alone should do that. However, canvas can take a while to dry and is susceptible to bacteria, mold, mildew, etc. so it's not my first choice. I will always reach for an Egyptian loofah or Korean bath towel instead. All that said, I like that they've committed to simple ingredients, and always appreciate a woman-owned brand.
Feedback
Product is somewhat gimmicky. Does it technically exfoliate? Yes, the canvas alone will do that. The stone will maybe somewhat moisturize, but lotion or shower oil will do way better and their marketing would have you believe that it's visibly sloughing off dead skin and it's not. Bottom line is this is difficult to use and there are better ways to exfoliate and moisturize without this product.

Wanted to love this as I am a big fan of exfoliating mitts, but just was not as effective as other products I have tried. Also found the two-step process to be cumbersome (especially in the shower) and found myself not using this is often as I would have liked. Appreciate the sustainability!

I wasn't a huge fan of this product. I feel like it didn't exfoliate as expected but the scrubbing towel has been nice to use with other products. The exfoliating bar itself is very hard and seems like it would be better used directly on the skin vs. rubbing it onto the cloth to apply. Could be great for pedicures?

Meh. From all the positive reviews, I expected more. Nicely packaged (like most consumer brands these days) with a fairly standard cloth "mitt" (really is just a cheap cloth bag) and a small puck you're supposed to rub onto the mitt before exfoliating. Problem is that the puck doesn't really rub off onto the mitt at all so you have no idea how much product to use and it's just an annoying process. The mitt exfoliates fine but I think any semi-rough cloth would do the same. I don't even know if the stuff from the puck adds anything.

I followed the instructions... it doesn't seem like anything comes off the pellet on to the mitt. It was hard to rub it on to the mitt as well, maybe because I have small hands? I don't really feel like it did much and there are way better products for exfoliation. I wanted to love it... but I just don't think it really did anything and it was not cheap.

This is an interesting product and I'm glad I was able to try this. I like the concept and the simplicity behind this method of exfoliation. It took a little time to get a light layer of the stone on the mitt but once it was on there it seemed to do it's job. The mitt bunched up a little for me but I have small hands. It exfoliated nicely for me and it was fun to try.

I’m just not sure if it is effective. You have to rub the stone with a good amount of pressure to transfer to the mitt. It seems to roll up quickly when rubbing on skin (I wonder if this is supposed to create the illusion that is it exfoliating all the dead skin?). Doesn’t seem to last long. I think it could probably work but I’m just a little confused as to the application. And is it just the mitt that is actually exfoliating?

So, the first time I tried this I didnt really think it did anything positive at all. I waited a week as recommended and tried again. This time it did leave my skin very smooth. I'm trying to understand if it matters what substance is used with the cloth or if it's just the canvas that does the exfoliating. But my skin was very smooth following use # 2 of the chelle exfoliating kit so it did what it claimed!

It was just okay! I think the mit worked well, but the bar did almost nothing.

The product formula doesn’t go in skin super easy, it felt pretty dry and chalky.

The mitt worked really well to exfoliate the dead skin off and was larger than other ones I've used so I was able to fit my hand in comfortably. The exfoliation bar is a bit difficult to use and I couldn't get it onto the mitt to exfoliate. I'm not sure if I was just using it wrong or if it was the product. I ended up just using some bar soap with the exfoliation mitt and that worked great to make my skin super smooth. UPDATE: I should have waited to keep trying this one out before posting a review! Once I got the exfoliation bar wet a few times I was able to run it onto the mitt and it really made my skin SOFT! If you are someone who doesn't shave your legs, like me most of the time, this will still make your legs soft and silky, which is amazing.

I *really* wanted to like this product. I'm always in the market for a new body exfoliator and this one seemed fun/I really liked the simplicity and company message. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. I've used it about 3 times now and the exfoliating stone has all but disintegrated from trying to rub it on the mitt. Also, seconding the complaints about it not actually sloughing off the dead skin; it's just the remnants of the product coming off the mitt. Speaking of the mitt, I wish it was a little more secure when using it, like include a tie at the bottom or make it actually mitten shaped. Again, I really wanted to like this product and I'll continue to use the canvas mitt in like a loofah situation with soap, but I won't be purchasing more stones. There's better body exfoliators out there. Quick edit: after a little clarification/guidance from Rashel (TYSM!), I wanted to amend my review a bit. There is a bit of user error/learning curve here, which I understand can be a turn-off for people. But upon revisiting, I have a new lease on chelle body. While it may not be as *immediately* satisfying as some other exfoliators, this was actually pretty stellar once you get the hang of the stone/mitt. I used self tanner as the true test to see if any dry skin existed and it went on SO WELL and SO EVEN. So this is definitely worth a try/revisit if you are in the market for an exfoliator and looking for a no-frills approach for ingredients and packaging.

I've been looking to start exfoliating more regularly and was really excited to try this product, however I am not really impressed. I felt like it was extremely hard to get the exfoliating stone to rub off onto the mitt and I'm unsure if the product was even effective. So far this is the only Thingdrop that I have regretted

I'm not really sure how to use this! I tried to use the pod in the shower but it didn't really do much? I also didn't even realize the bag is a mitt, I thought it was packaging and tossed it. They could benefit a lot from additional instructions in order to orient the user to the product.

I did not get this product one bit. I did not understand how to use it or what the outcome was even supposed to be. I tried once and then threw it in my drawer where it still lives to this day.

Honestly haven’t used it because I was disappointed in the product when it arrived. It looks like a basic clay body scrub that has been rolled and cut into round pieces. I am surprised at how small the scrub is and the directions are a little confusing. I think I prefer scrubs from a jar or in bar form.

I am not sure what this is supposed to do. I love trying to use less plastic, but the little puck of product didn't seem to be doing anything and after a few more tries, I gave up.
