Reviews mention

  • Gentle, dermatologist-backed formulations
  • Fragrance-free, sensitive-skin options
  • Hydrating, ceramide-rich moisturizers
  • Effective, acne-calming cleansers
  • Occasional heavy, comedogenic creams
  • Drying, under-foaming cleansers
  • Irritating, oily-feeling sunscreens
  • Inconsistent texture and finish

CeraVe earns strong reviews as a gentle, dermatologist-recommended line that effectively hydrates, calms acne, and supports sensitive skin—especially through staples like the Hydrating Cleanser, Foaming Facial Cleanser, Moisturizing Cream, AM/PM Facial Moisturizing Lotions, and Healing Ointment. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some moisturizers feel heavy or cause breakouts, certain cleansers can be drying or under-cleanse, SPFs can irritate or feel oily, and concerns arise over non–cruelty-free status and perceived harsh or endocrine-disrupting filters in some sunscreens.

  • I have used their retinol and it has been great! It is a good price point and not too harsh on the skin.

  • CeraVe is a solid skincare brand that offers effective and affordable products. I’ve been using their moisturizers and cleansers for a while now, and they leave my skin feeling hydrated and clean without irritation. The formulas are gentle, which is perfect for my sensitive skin. While I love the simplicity and reliability, I wish there were more variety in textures for different skin types. Overall, it’s a great go-to brand for everyday skincare!

  • Moisturizing cream is really great for cold weather related dryness. its thick but not super greasy. Only down mark is that i think it is petroleum based but i could be wrong.

  • I am always pleasantly surprised when I see this brand in high-end dermatology offices. It really is an effective, gentle, and safe product to use pre and post procedures and then consistently in your skincare routine. I love how affordable the products are and how they are all readily available at drugstores. I do mix and match with high-end medical grade skincare and feel it provides a nice balance. If my doctors are fans of this brand, then I will remain a loyal fan as well.

  • The moisturizers are nice. I don’t like the brand/company because they test on animals.

  • One of my most trusted skin care brands. You will see their products in tons of lists for best skincare and it’s totally true. All of the products are gentle on your skin and fairly priced.

  • The best lotions for my skincare needs.

  • Sometimes drugstore brands just work best. Their moisturizers and anti itch creams are always a reliable choice.

  • I was recommended this by a friend who said this was a authentic lotion which can also be used for kids over 3. Since winters my kids get dry skin, I started using them right after their bath time. It has no odor and the cream is easy to put on with a pumping bottle so you can put them on very easily. No mess and just with one hand, you can apply it to your kids. The price is also consumer friendly!

  • A great basic brand that actually works. I like their facial moisturizer and gentle cleanser, both are great for sensitive skin.

  • I'm pretty laidback about what sort of SPF I put on my face (I typically use the Trader Joe's facial SPF). But, I decided to get the CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF. My derm recommends it. My sister uses it. My besties use it. So, I was like, I may as well get serious with my SPF. Plot twist! It gave me almost like a chemical burn on my face! My skin was red in patches, super itchy, and now is flaking off and discolored. I don't know what my skin is reacting to, but I am the only person I know in my IRL circle that has had this reaction. I would NOT recommend based on my experience. But so many other people love it.

  • If I could give this brand 10/5 stars I would. I have suffered from eczema my entire life and have tried every lotion under the sun and cerave lotion is the best, “can’t live without” lotion on the market. It’s moisturizing but not greasy and I can actually feel my skin soaking up the lotion, when some lotions feel like they just sit on my skin. I use their tinted sunscreen face lotion and it’s fabulous! I have tried other brands face sunscreen (goop, etc.) and always break out but not with cerave! The price is insane for the quality. Plus, every dermatologist I’ve ever visited has sworn by cerave - they don’t understand why I purchase other (more expensive) brands when cerave is available.

  • From their face washes to their moisturizers, this is a staple in our house. Incredible price-points for great products that do their job well.

  • I use a facial cleansing bar from CeraVe and I love it. It's hard to find a face soap that doesn't suds a lot but also isn't expensive. I was worried that the bar would be weird since I usually use liquid, but it's great! And it leaves my face feeling clean but not dry.

  • I can't recommend CeraVe enough. I've been using their face wash for years and love it. Their sunscreens are also great but can leave me feeling a little oily in the summer. A really great safe go-to brand! Especially for the price point!

  • Just excellent - the most trust skincare (for me) at the American pharmacy. I especially like their Salicylic Acid Foot cream, which is excellent for exfoliating dry skin in colder months.

  • I've tried all sorts of skincare, and CeraVe is my tried and true. From the hydrating facial cleanser to the moisturizing cream or lotion, this is a brand I can trust my sensitive skin with. I know my skin will be left feeling clean, healthy, and moisturized and that I'll get more than my money's worth with how long each bottle lasts!
