Reviews mention

  • Tasty low‑sugar candies
  • Nostalgic flavor recreations
  • Bright, fruity flavor profiles
  • Convenient portioned packaging
  • Extremely sticky texture
  • Inconsistent chewiness firmness
  • Sweetener aftertaste lingering
  • Potential gastrointestinal discomfort

SmartSweets earns positive reviews for genuinely tasty, low‑sugar takes on nostalgic gummies like Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, and Red Twists; it satisfies cravings and often avoids “fake” sweetener aftertaste. Reviews also flag real drawbacks: many candies are extremely sticky or tough, flavors can be inconsistent with occasional stevia/allulose aftertaste and GI upset, and portions feel small. Overall, SmartSweets is good if cutting sugar, but texture quirks and formula variability make it a compromise for purists.

  • I absolutely love these treats! I have been buying for over a year. My favorites are the peach rings and any of the sour flavors. Some flavors taste more like their sugary counterparts than others, but I don't really have any complaints on the flavors and I think I have tried nearly all of them.

I was eating a vegetarian diet earlier this year and I was excited many of the gummies were vegetarian! I had to be careful because some products do have gelatin, but that's understandable.

  • Manage your expectations if trying for the first time because anyone who tells you they’re just like normal gummy candies is lying - the taste and texture are very different. I tried the Peach Rings, and if they were my only option for dessert/candy, I would choose not to eat these. I still gave it 3 stars because I can see how others find it to be a good option to curb a sugar craving. If you’re like me and you hate the taste of alternative sweeteners (I hate diet sodas), this won’t do it for you. The texture is also much quicker to bite through rather than having that pull and chewiness that normal gummies have. This isn’t a bad thing, but it’s something to be aware of if you really want that chew. If I try any other products, I’ll edit my review accordingly. UPDATE: The Sourmelon Bites (I.e., watermelon) are actually pretty good. You can still tell they aren’t the normal gummy, but I think I like these better compared to the peach rings because the sour coating takes over. I would buy/eat the watermelon ones again.

  • Looked like a gummy worm, did not taste like a gummy worm. The candies were very tough and the texture was not good.

  • Love that these come in small packages so you can’t over indulge. Most of these just have a slightly weird taste and aren’t that enjoyable.

  • Smart sweets are a great treat! Although they taste noticeably different from traditional gummy candy, the alternative taste isn't bad - just unique!

I wish the texture was less firm - compared to regular gummy candy, smart sweets are much firmer/less chewy.

  • I'm not even a big candy person but i always find myself grabbing a bag whenever i walk by a display at the store. I like the peach rings and Swedish fish the best. They've nailed the flavors and i like that they're not overly sweet like traditional candy.

  • the swedish fish are insanely addicting; i can't buy the multi-packs from amazon anymore because i would finish them within a few days!!!

  • I picked these up one in a target checkout and really enjoyed them. I think they’re a bit on the pricier side for candy so for me it is definitely a treat to get this from the store but I would chose these over regular candy any day.

  • Love the packaging and used to really like the sweet fish but I’m wondering if the formula changed over the years. They used to be chewy and softer but the last few times I’ve gotten them, they tended to be on the harder side. Not sure if I ended up getting a bad batch. They’re not terrible, but they’re also not the first brand I’d reach for when looking for a sweet treat.

I haven’t had them in a while, but the last few times I grabbed a bag of sweet fish, I wish it was more consistent in the flavoring and overall quality of the candy.

  • The Peach rings are my favorite! I always purchase them on my Target runs. Purchased them for my daughters birthday and they really added cute color and feel to all the decor we had.

  • I do really enjoy the flavors of the varieties I’ve tried so far, although they are obviously not identical to the candy they’re meant to substitute. However, the quantity of product for the high price generally turns me off from buying this brand too often unless there is a sale.

  • I'm guilty of eating whole bags of candy in one sitting and love these as an alternative that is low cal and still just as good. My favorites are the peach rings, watermelon and sour patch kids dupes. Although they don't have the same flavor and texture as the normal gummies, I find that I crave these over the originals.

  • YUM. Didn't realize these were low sugar until I'd gobbled up the whole lot and was reading the packet. Great taste and texture!

  • If you go in expecting traditional candy your ring to be pretty disappointed. The textures are off, the flavors strange with a really strong fake sweetness. Its ok if you go in knowing what it is. A low sugar alternative.

The textures and flavors. None of them are anywhere near accurate to what they are trying to imitate.

  • Such tasty low sugar treats. My husband even said he liked them better than their mainstream counterparts

    Feedback

    Bigger prices, better value.

  • A great idea overall, but the candies are very sticky and get stuck in your teeth.

    Feedback

The flavor is good, but they need to become less sticky overall.

  • Super yummy!! I've really enjoyed every variety I've tried. The peach rings are definitely my favorite.

For the price, you get very little candy in a bag.

  • Very stevia, fake sugar, tasting. Also they have lots of fiber so be careful.

    Feedback

    Less fake sugar tasting.

  • I tried the sour gummies. Terrible taste and 42 GRAMS OF CARBS. I get the low sugar push but it feels inauthentic. For such a small bag, it's not worth swapping out for the real thing if you only have candy once in a while.

  • If you're really looking to skip sugar these are a great option but I end up with an upset stomach when I eat them.
