Public Goods earns mixed reviews: many praise the clean, minimalist design and effective basics—from ramen and dish soap to shampoo and stoneware—while recurring complaints target the mandatory $79 membership model and inconsistent quality (leaky refills, watery shampoos, weak candles). Reviews indicate the brand works for aesthetically cohesive, lightly scented, non-toxic essentials, but buyers wary of subscriptions, plastic in refills, occasional stockouts, and hit‑or‑miss formulas should proceed selectively.

Pretty darn good stuff and especially great pricing.

I tried Public Goods, and I have to say, it's not worth it for me. While the packaging looks nice and sleek, the products fell short in quality. The lotion felt greasy and didn't absorb well into my skin, and the body wash and shampoo left my skin feeling dry and stripped of its natural oils. Plus, the price point isn't that competitive - plenty of other products at mass retailers don't require a subscription and work better for me.
I took advantage of a trial period to order a few personal care items and dish soap.

While I like the look and quality of the items, I don’t like subscription business model bc their assortment is limited and it can’t replace the regular grocery store.
Great branding and price point.

Love most of the products but some of the soap-based ones leave my skin a little dry. We used the bath products for a little over a year but ended up switching away from them. The bar soap and hand soap are worth the purchase for sure - as is the lineup of skin and haircare products. The matte paste for your hair is my favorite hair product to date, no matter if my hair is long or short. Definitely worth the membership for me.

I enjoy the products and the concept behind the brand but I the subscription aspect turned me off. Everything I tried was very nice quality though.

I'll start with the bad: I don't like the subscription model. It feels too expensive with too few products, and I never made up the cost via savings on the goods either. That said: their products range from solidly good to great, and the aesthetic is even better. I just recommend loading up during a free trial or finding a retailer that carries some of the products you'd like to try.
Things I love about Public Goods: Super affordable, refill options, simple and clean packaging, has everything you can want for your home.
Love love love every single product I have tried, as well as the idea behind the product/company. Shipping is quick and new products are constantly being added.

Hard to find anything I'm not happy with. I did wonder the last time I shopped if maybe too diversified, if it can be hard to manage from a business plan perspective? But they seem to have it well in hand.
I am an early adopter and bought into their lifetime membership. Some of the products are great, others just okay. I don’t think there’s anything we hated. We’ve use the deodorant (great smell, but didn’t work), the period Care (works great, but lots of packaging), some of the food products (the ramen was good), body lotions (like!), face lotion (meh), and body wash (my favorite). We’ve also purchased some of their natural body scrubbers which work well. Overall would recommend if you can find enough products to justify filling a box.
Great concept. Love the idea of unbranded, minimal basics in the home. The products from Public Goods that I've tried have been great - mostly toiletries and home stuff. I haven't ordered from them in a while and know they've really expanded their products since then, so I need to get on that!
I tried this brand while looking for a clean sustainable laundry detergent but I didnt really like their products.
One of my favorite direct to consumer grocery brands of all time.

I'm so glad I was offered a free lifetime membership. I did not think an annual fee was worth it. Additionally, I felt a bit duped when I was paying the subscription fee to use Public Goods. During this time, I saw Public Goods products for sale in stores all the time (mainly my local grocery store and CVS). I'm glad they made this change and now I'm more inclined to shop for all of my favorite household things!
I have purchased a lot of food products from Public Goods and will definitely be purchasing more of their home goods in the future as I am in the process of furnishing a new home. I have found everything I've ordered to be tasty and high quality.

I love public goods! They make so many more products than you'd think, and everything is great quality. Definitely not a replacement for a grocery store, but you can get lots of basic ingredients and household items for a great price.

I think they could improve their marketing and ads because its not very well known.

Ordered the ramen on a whim and absolutely loved it. Ending up stocking up on it during my free trial. Also a big fan of the bathroom products like loofas, scrubbers, etc. Good quality and affordable price for aesthetically pleasing products.

Not a fan of the subscription model -- best bet is to plan what you want to get and order with a free trial.
I wanted to love Public Goods -- the mission & aesthetic are right up my alley. A kitchen full of Public Goods products would fulfill anyone's The Home Edit fantasies. While a few of the products have become staples in my house (in particular I love their fluffy towels & grain/lentils), but I'm a bit too particular about many items in my home too really embrace the full range.

Been a member for a few months; one overall fairly satisfied with their products. I haven’t disliked anything I’ve purchased from them. That being said, I haven’t fully fallen in love with many of their products either. Moreover, it seems like they’re always out of stock of items I need most, and they don’t rotate sales very much on more desirable items for me. Overall, I think it’s a great service for creatures of routine as far as shopping, but perhaps not for those who need specific items at different times.
I love the quality and value of Public Goods products. I have only completed one-off purchases, but I’m definitely considering subscribing to receive some products on a regular basis.
Public Goods makes some really good products in every category, I just absolutely hate that they're membership only and won't purchase anything further from them until they open it up to purchase-at-will. I don't want to buy all of my needs from one store, I have other products that I like better like shampoo, razors, etc, and their range of products isn't quite large enough to justify buying a membership. Products are good and I otherwise would buy some stuff from them regularly, but overall they just don't compete enough or have enough variety to justify this type of business model, imo.
Amazing website and marketing for a conscious and well thought-out as well as amazing delivery of products. easy to navigate, amazing smells, proper cruelty-free, and vegan lotions, affordable, and makes it so easy to support your home while also helping the planet! go Sustainability!
