Milk Bar polarizes: reviews praise the in-store classics like Cereal Milk soft serve, Milk Bar Pie, Birthday Cake, and cake truffles as nostalgic, inventive, and delicious, yet many find products overwhelmingly sweet and note uneven quality in packaged grocery items. Reviews also flag inconsistent freshness and multiple failed or late deliveries, while applauding playful branding and gift appeal, plus solid gluten-free options.

See photos. THIS is the condition in which my order arrived. The funfetti cake was toppled on its side and fell out of its casting. The chocolate pie looked like it had been opened and tampered with; its plastic covering was torn. The products themselves were almost sickeningly sweet and rich. So much money spent for such a disappointment. Again, just look at those pictures. Awful!

Had seen Christina Tosi’s biography and highly successful business, but never close enough to visit a bakery in person. This summer, made her corn cookie recipe to rave reviews from the family, so wanted to order some products for our Thanksgiving dinner. The shipment arrived on time, in great packaging and appeared perfect. I promptly refrigerated, and was so excited to see my family’s reaction to the pumpkin and milk bar pie and the pumpkin truffles. Unfortunately, they were all waaaay too sweet. The pumpkin pie taste reminded me of candy corn. Both pies were very sticky and dense and as others have said, most servings of these Milk Bar products would be only a very small slice. The truffles were my favorite, but again, far too sweet after a rich Thanksgiving meal. I may try some of her other recipes, but probably will not order these extremely expensive pies again. Our Costco pies became the stars of our dessert table. Disappointed!

Bought a birthday cake for my Son's birthday. Received shipping and tracking info and delivery date. Then -- no delivery. I called during their posted business hours -- recording said it was not business hours. I called many times. Finally got a very lame email excuse and offering me a refund. Here was my response: Hello, Agatha -- I do not appreciate this standard response. I don't believe you even researched this issue. I did receive shipping and confirmation information and a tracking number that noted it would be delivered on the agreed-upon day. I was able to track the shipment to Reno, its final destination, but then the notes changed to "delivery pending". Had you even looked at this you would have known this. I also called your support line twice during your hours of operation only to be told that I was not calling during your hours of operation. In addition, please ask your company to stop using the "Global Logistics" excuse. Your cake was available and it was shipped out. While this is not a huge crisis, my son received no cake for his birthday. Not the end of the world, but I would at least appreciate that someone from Milk Bar cared. Please process the refund. (Update. It arrived. Packed really poorly and smelling bad.)

I tried the chocolate chip cookie with pretzels and chips. It was overwhelmingly sweet and surprisingly soggy. How do you add chips and pretzels to a cookie and it’s soft. Such a sweet disappointing oxymoron.

Milk Bar is the ultimate treat for anyone with a sweet tooth! On my first visit to their store in NYC, I couldn't resist trying their famous cereal milk ice cream (topped with cornflakes for extra crunch, of course). It was absolutely delicious and brought back all sorts of childhood memories with every creamy, nostalgicaic spoonful. But it's Milk Bar's one-of-a-kind birthday cakes that are truly the stuff of legend. I've ordered the classic rainbow-layered version (which is also available gluten-free) as a celebratory treat for friends, and it never fails to impress. And if you're looking for something a little more portable, their cookie tins and truffle assortments make the perfect gift combo. TLDR: Worth every last bite.

Milk Bar's cakes are definitely a treat worth trying, but they can be a bit pricey and a little denser than I'd like. The branding is also a bit bold for my taste, but that's just personal preference. I tend to go for more subtle things in life.

Great experience every.single.time. The Milk Bar PIE is the best thing ever. A close second is the compost cookies which are simply divine. The Cereal ice-cream is alsoa tasty treat and great way to cool down in the summer.

Really good but cannot have a lot due to it being too sweet.

The birthday cake is one of the most delicious things you could ever eat if you’re a fan of this style of dessert. I have bought the layered cake many times for birthdays and it’s such a crowd pleaser. I also love the cookies.

i was obsessed with the cake balls as a kid. i recently tried them again and they're not as good as i remember. very sweet and didn't seem very fresh. that said the milk flavored softserve and cereal topping remains one of my favorite treats
I've paid less for better cakes than these. I've also had boxed cakes that were moister and tastier. I'm sorry but $62 for a 6-inch birthday cake ($140 for a 10 inch birthday cake!) just doesn't cut it for me.
I’ve had the cereal milk and the birthday cake and they are delicious! Such a fun treat!
Their cake & truffles are one of my all time favorite splurge purchases. Obviously if you buy it from a store it’s fresher than getting it shipped or via a doordash kitchen, but if you’re in a pinch those ones are still pretty good.
Milk Bar offers deliciously indulgent treats that never disappoint! The cookies, cakes, and other desserts are rich, flavorful, and incredibly unique. While some items can be a bit too sweet for my taste, the quality and creativity make it totally worth trying!
I DID NOT GET THE HYPE. Largely overrated in my personal opinion but I have not tried ALL their products.
I always love trying Milk Bar's new products, as they're truly innovative and FUN! I'm snacking on their crunchies (Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie) that I purchased at Sprouts and they're like a classic Famous Amos-type cookie. Delicious! Like I mention, they always have something fun and innovative, like the crunchies, they have crispy rice cereal inside. I've had their cookies, truffles, and more throughout the years. But I'll be honest, I don't purchase their products too often. Many of them (truffles) are way too sweet for me. And I have a considerable sweet tooth! And I often don't feel like paying the higher price for these. So it's a brand I'll always try, but don't typically purchase consistently from, like less than once a year.
Such a tasty brand! And after learning more about the creator and chef Christina Toci I am an even bigger fan. I was able to purchase several products for myself and others as gifts when they opened up their online ordering—and the flavors and freshness remain high quality. I also tried to get a seat in one of their classes where you actually get to make their famous cake. Overall, I'd buy again and think it's a delicious treat.
Cool brand and everything, but every single thing I've tried has been wayyy to sweet. Wanted to understand the hype, but just not for me :/
Very delicious. Recently had a cookie on a United flight. It was the lemon flavor and it was dense and flavorful and didn’t taste like fake lemon
I think their items are very hit or miss. Their cookies are fantastic and I love the fun flavors, but some are just too sweet.
I don’t really love sweet deserts, so I wasn’t expecting to like Milkbar but their Milkbar pie is TO DIE FOR. Definitely one of my favorite deserts, and I love that you can now buy products and ship them to your house.
