Milk Bar polarizes: reviews praise the in-store classics like Cereal Milk soft serve, Milk Bar Pie, Birthday Cake, and cake truffles as nostalgic, inventive, and delicious, yet many find products overwhelmingly sweet and note uneven quality in packaged grocery items. Reviews also flag inconsistent freshness and multiple failed or late deliveries, while applauding playful branding and gift appeal, plus solid gluten-free options.

Their desserts are sooooo rich and decadent. Really sweet. If you have a big sweet tooth craving their desserts will hit the spot. I like the truffle bites, good bite size servings.

Less sweet More flavors
The packaging is cute and overall branding is fun, but the products are super sweet and gummy. Not the best tasting cookies and desserts out there especially for the price. I wouldn't get the pre-packaged cookies that you get at grocery stores.
So yummy. Pretty expensive, but worth it for special occasions. The cake comes wrapped and fresh and the cookies are very very good.

Their customer service is amazing. Our order didn't get shipped in time for my mom's birthday so they sent us another order to make up for it! The cookies need to be sold in more stores!!
IRL great, national shipping great, but the grocery products they’ve launched? Don’t get your hopes up - it’s such a sad let down and dilution of the brand.

Tried a variety of foods from them including the crack pie from an actual store location, the birthday cake, truffles, and cereal milk ice cream. The packaging and appearance is always fun but the goods are really sweet and expensive for what they are.
Feedback
Too sweet and one dimensional. Price too high for the quality m, especially with the birthday cake. It was expensive and tasted like box yellow cake mix.
LOVE MILKBAR. Over the years, I have tried a lot of their products including almost every flavor of cake (bday, chocolate, apple cider donut, strawberry shortcake, red velvet), bday cake truffles, compost cookies, the klossy collab years ago, milk bar pie fka crack pie - you name it. I love the brand's revival of childhood dessert favorites and how they embrace playfulness in every treat. I do want to note that I have a strong sweet tooth, so that definitely plays a role in my love for the brand.
While I think certain items like the Milkbar pie are fantastic, I think overall most items taste just okay.
Feedback
I think the flavor of items such as the birthday cake could be improved. While it looks cool, and I don’t like a ton of icing, I think the cake could be more flavorful.
Specifically reviewing Milkbar packaged foods in grocery: Packaged cookies are BIG disappointment and don’t capture magic of brick and mortar cookie confections. On the other hand the truffles—found in the refrigerated section—are very close to the deliciousness of the fresh made truffles in store.

Too sweet

I love Milkbar when I am able to go in person or have something delivered directly from the store. All of their dessert are amazing and dense but when I've actually purchased their cookies from a box at the grocery store...I cannot stay the same. They are actually a disservice to their store. Their fresh cookies are 100000x better when they are fresh vs in the box. I wouldn't buy their cookies at the store again. However, the ice cream is probably fine.
Delicious, but pricey. Some items have a kind of fake lemony undertone like the cereal milk/birthday flavored items.

A cleaner taste and less wasteful packaging.
As a fan of cookies, this place has my heart. I love their compost cookie is the to-go cookie. Their ice cream with corn flakes is also one of my favorite products from Milk. It is the perfect place for a sweet treat.
The cookies and cakes (delivered) are amazing! I would say the ice cream is the best in stores.

The in store products could use a bit of tweaking. It’s great from a delivery standpoint , but in the stores it’s not as good.

I love the founder Christina Tosi and her story. I've watched her grow the brand and business over the years with her talented team, and have enjoyed seeing them expand into cookbooks, more products and international stores. The packaging is fun and playful, which is exactly what I want from a baked good company. I want to have that nostalgic childhood experience when I tear into something like the treats Milkbar has. I travelled to Toronto and experienced Milk Bar above the Momofuku Noodle Bar. It was late in the day, so they only had the compost cookie and b’day truffles. It wasn't the best experience, and the product wasn't what I envisioned, but I think Tosi and Milkbar deserve credit for continually pushing boundaries in this category, and regardless of my experience I'm still following Milkbar and excited about their move to Nordstrom in Vancouver.
Feedback
The location at Momofuku in Toronto felt like an afterthought. I wouldn't know it was there unless I was looking for it. When I did get there, product availability was scarce, which was disappointing. It felt more like a tourist attraction, which perhaps might have been the appeal at the time I visited a few years back.
I feel like milkbar products always sound amazing and fun, but the taste and texture falls short. Just not worth the price.

Increase quality or reduce cost.
There is nothing like the look on someones face when presented with a Milk Bar cake or cookies- The flavors are familiar but elevated,. The Strawberry Cake is one of the most delicious things ever. This is a wowza food item for sure.
Feedback
This is maximalist food. Its salty than you expect. sweeter than you expect. Thats not a bad thing, always, just a thing to keep in mind. Plus, you know, pricey!
In my experience I would say that Milkbar is “good for somebody”. I’ve always found their deserts to be overly sweet and not so fresh as you’d expect. That said, I’ve only had what they offer at their locations and not a birthday cake.
Feedback
While this is not their main thing, having descent coffee/espresso and baristas could really elevate the experience of their stores.
Got this sent as a gift, was super excited but it did not live up to all the hype. It was just a cake. Super sweet but not really as "different" from other cakes as I expected
Feedback
Less sweet so that the taste of the infused milk shines, not just the sugar.
Sugar bombs, tooth-achingly sweeter than the fresh baked goods available at the bakery.
Feedback
Chill out on the sweetness
Milkbar is just ok in terms of taste. The flavors are innovative but the cookies themselves are rather dry and the ice cream was under whelming
Feedback
I would say the quality of the product needs a little bit of work. The cookies should be moist and the ice cream should taste more natural and less plastic-like.
