Material earns strong reviews for beautiful, durable kitchen tools that perform—sharp Japanese-steel knives, evenly heating copper-core and nonstick pans, and reBoard/MK Free Board cutting boards praised for easy cleaning, vibrant colors, and sustainability—yet feedback flags drawbacks like reBoard warping in dishwashers, occasional slipperiness, knife dulling for some users, and nonstick scratching at high heat. Overall, Material is good if you value design-forward, functional pieces and can accommodate the care nuances noted by reviewers.

absolutely gorgeous, amazing design.
I have their copper pan set and I absolutely love it. They're great quality pans for a decent price.

The concept of the brand is great. I have the reboard in the sage color and must say it is great, but slippery. You have to be careful when using it.
Material has such an attractive collection of kitchenware and tableware. I've used their spatulas, ceramics, and cutting boards over the years. They're definitely pricey but pretty good quality.

My go-to everyday cutting board. Sustainable, easy on my knives and easy to clean. Great colors, too!

LOVE the cutting board and chef knife. Was gifted both by a friend over a year ago, and they are holding up great! Absolute staples in my kitchen!

Great cutting board, not sure how unique that is though!
Material is a BEAUTIFUL (and not to mention AAPI owned!) kitchen brand that strives for well designed, highly functional kitchenware. They are a brand you feel good about getting marketing from, following on social media, and even purchasing from. I, personally, made my purchases for an empty kitchen (moving with nothing!) but would happily continue replacing my products, if and when needed, with more Material products and would encourage others to do the same... the gifts that can come out of their catalog, for both you and your loved ones! The knives are of great quality, and the products are beautiful to look at. Everything is beautiful AND has a functional purpose! How great? Yes, Material is a splurge brand. It is a worth-your-money splurge brand.
All of the items I've purchased from Material (knives, a pan, the wooden cutting board) are such high quality. They're designed to be beautiful but minimalist so they look good in any kitchen. I even bought my mom the wooden cutting board for her birthday one year and she refuses to cut things on it because it's "too beautiful."

I bought my copper colored peeler from Home Ec a small shop in San Diego. I wasn’t really sure if I was going to love the style of peeer that it is. As it turns out, I do really love it. It’s super sharp. It feels good in your hand. It’s easy to peel large vegetables. And it gives a nice thin peel when you’re peeling citrus. I’ve had it a few months and it’s been holding up really well. I keep the cover on the blade when it’s in the drawer.
Material Kitchen's chef knife and cutting board are stylish and functional. The cutting board in pink quickly became a favorite, adding a vibrant splash of color to my kitchen while being easy clean. Although the chef knife arrived with a bent tip, the customer service swiftly replaced it. The knife didn't outshine others in my collection, but perhaps with more frequent sharpening, I'd reach for the knife more. Material Kitchen offers innovative products that enhance kitchen aesthetics and functionality.
I really love the re-boards. So much so that I purchased a second in another color! They are versatile, look great, and love their enviromental impact. The brand is awesome! I have also tried the re-bowl and was pleasantly surprised--its great for salads

I recommend getting a darker color because the lighter ones do show stains on the re-board
I ordered their ReBoard when it first launched. The brand claimed that it was dishwasher safe, so I attempted to wash it. Unfortunately, it warped after the first try! Their customer service was SO fast, and they shipped me a replacement right away. I loved that. I still love the brand and board regardless.

I might not suggest Dishwasher Safe for the ReBoard. Or at least a disclaimer!

This is a small business that is not cutting any corners. Everything I've tried from Material has been so well made and beautifully designed. The founders have a great story and I've also been impressed with their sustainability efforts!

Japanese Steel knives, great cutting boards, and high quality stainless steel kitchen tools - it's a little pricey but it's well worth it and you can keep them forever it seems like. I use them everyday and they all have little to no wear after a year of hard use. I use the sharpener that works great too!

I love their copper coated pan. I do have to be careful about not using it at too high of heat and always use a wooden or silicone utensil with it because I’ve found it can scratch easily. It does make the perfect friend eggs and truly nonstick if you keep it clean. Really beautiful design too. I also love their color ways. Their knife set is really high quality, sleek design, and super sharp. It comes with a paring, chef, and bread knife. I also have their steak knife set that comes with 5 in a standup wood block. I bought the steak knife set early on and had an issue with the handles showing hairline fractures. They were so gracious and attentive to send me a replacement. I purchased these products directly from their website and received it packaged very nicely. I think any of their products would be a great gift to someone that loves to cook or bake.

I love love Material! I started with their knives and have gotten cutting boards, nonstick pans, and tongs from them. Quality, pretty product that's super fun to use. The customer support is top notch as well. I had an issue with their cutting board and customer support was quick to help with the issue.

I have had my knives and block for nearly 5 years and it is like they are brand new. Great for small counter tops and at-home cooks.
