Reviews mention

  • Compelling anti–food waste mission
  • Deeply discounted premium brands
  • Broad, well-curated assortment
  • Fast, reliable shipping speed
  • Inconsistent, fragile-item packaging
  • Near-expiration dated products
  • Unreliable, fluctuating inventory
  • Occasionally misleading product details

Martie earns mixed reviews: the brand delights deal-hunters with deeply discounted, well‑curated pantry, beauty, and home finds while advancing a clear anti–food waste mission, but inconsistent packing quality, near‑expiration dates, dynamic inventory, and spotty customer support undermine trust. Reviews of Martie confirm it’s good for discovering buzzy DTC and organic brands at real savings and fast shipping, yet buyers face OOS substitutions, occasional mislabeled sizes, broken items, and variability in discounts—making it compelling for treasure‑hunt shoppers, less so for one‑stop staples or reliable reorders.

  • Edited 1 year later - Was 3 stars, now 2. I have since placed a handful of orders, and their shipping quality has dropped a ridiculous amount. 2 of my past 5 orders arrived with obliterated snack items seemingly used as packaging for heavier items. Reading other reviews, this seems to be a trend. I did reach out to their support team both times, and both times I was offered a refund. That is satisfactory; it makes me wonder why this change has happened though, and why does it keep happening? Wouldn't it be smarter business-wise to just...not pack things like that? It's disappointing to the customer and the business when preventable issues like this consistently happen. No one wants to ship or receive busted food, so why not ship it like you're preventing it? In general, their prices seem to have increased as well, and some items are not at good enough discounts for me to consider getting them. About a year ago, prices were low enough to get me to try things "just because". Now, if I do an order it is very specific and with zero fun-to-try things since it is now cheaper to get those at TJ Maxx. 2 stars still because of the standard pantry item selection of better items at a discount. ------ Original Review: TL;DR is that SOME items are a good deal. I've used Martie several times for my household, primarily for snacks. It has distinct strengths and weaknesses. I've shared this information with them via their requests for reviews, but nothing has changed to make me change my opinion. Strengths: You literally never know what they will be selling, making for a great variety of options to choose from. May prices are lower than grocery stores (specifically looking at brands I see/get at Whole Foods). The items are shipped amazingly well from start to finish - whoever packages your order needs a raise and to advise other companies. I've ordered some very mixed-bag items, including delicate decorations or chips and 6-packs of soda at the same time. The boxes arrive in great shape, with padding throughout, AND items are packed appropriately from heaviest up to lightest. Their tracking system is accurate, transparent, easy-to-access, and honest. I cannot say enough good things about their shipping practices. Weaknesses: You literally never know what they will be selling - as in, they may end up selling an item they previously listed at a different price. They have a handling fee that is separate from shipping, which they don't warn you about until you're checking out. It's "only" $1.99, so they don't think you'll fight it/they think you'll just pay it without fuss. I personally despise when companies pull that. Sometimes the prices are NOT better than retail, meaning sometimes their prices are the same as what grocery stores put their sale prices at. Specifically, I grabbed a 1 lb bag of whole bean coffee I've been wanting to try that Whole Foods carries. It was $9.99 on Martie. I go into WF a week later, and with the sale/Prime discount it was $8 something. You need to truly know or look up if something is a GOOD deal.

  • I recently placed my first order on Martie. They have great options and release new products to the site/app every day. They have a lot of good brands- just often very specific products/flavors from those brands. So you're getting a good discount it just might not be exactly what you want. My order took about a week to come but everything came in good condition. I would consider ordering again.

  • ordered quite a few amazing goodies for the kids, especially right before the holiday season. we're trying to stick to a healthier diet, but we discovered lots of great good here, especially gluten free items. and peanut butter variety. the only thing they don't have is fresh fruita and veggies. oh! and picked up some great gifts (bath bombs and lotions) at a great price!

  • Still a Martie stan here although we only order once every other month or so. Living in the rural Midwest means our local store doesn’t stock some packaged products (organic, ethnic, etc) that may be common elsewhere. Or if it does, the shelf tag is breathtaking. Martie has been a great way to add variety to to the pantry without killing out grocery budget. San Marzano tomato puree, check! Tinned sustainably caught fish, check! Random spice I definitely need, check! The assortment does vary a lot. Sometimes t Martie just doesn’t have anything we need. If I bought gluten free it would be a bonanza though. I have not had a problem with a damaged order but acknowledge that there is a clear pattern of customer service failures there. I hope this is addressed soon.

  • Great idea but they advertise a discount that it seems they can’t deliver. Compared prices to local grocery stores and I was not saving a significant amount.

  • I’ve done two Martie orders. No real issues except one item came broken. It was only $4 so I didn’t bother contacting their support. If you like thingtesting, you should like them since it’s where you can find most of the buzzy products you see on instagram but for a more reasonable price. Most of the items I’ve seen or gotten actually expire in a long time so I don’t have to worry about eating them too quickly surprisingly. Besides that, it’s been kind of a weird experience for me due to the nature of the concept of the site. Since it is limited qualities, things can sell out at any point, as well as new things being added. So I’ll put some things in my cart that sound interesting but not be ready to order yet and then things will sell out and I’ll ask myself, do I really want to go ahead with the order with what’s left? Then even though I was logged in, my entire cart got deleted and I gave up. So now I am waiting for some things to be added that I absolutely want and then I’ll browse the rest of the site.

2 things: 1. nutrition info is really important to me. Some of the pics of labels are poor quality and I cannot read them. Separate text info would be better. 2. I wish I could sign up to be notified when you get certain products back in stock.

  • I received my first order and so far I really like it. It seems to veer toward healthy foods. Martie helps me look at items that I would usually overlook. I have really liked my Nick's protein bars that I ordered. I got a 12 pack for $14.99 and found them on Amazon for $20.39. They sell household items too. I bought a couple of bath bombs that smell and look so pretty! They are $9.00 a bomb but I got 2 of them for $3.98. I would say that's a steal! I plan on buying more groceries when needed and I have recommended them to my friends and family already. GIVE THEM A TRY!

  • So happy with my first Martie box. The selection of brands were surprisingly good with a big selection of organic, clean products that I would've gravitated toward anyways. Great solution to stock up on favorites and reducing waste in the process. Love the little stickers that came along and the whole delivery process was so smooth, will definitely be back.

  • I just received my first order from Martie yesterday (3/25/25). While overall I’m happy with what I received, it should be noted that two of the items had a sell by date of 3/26/25 and a couple more items have a sell by date of next month. Not a deal breaker, but it would keep me from stocking up with pantry staples and I thought people should know.

  • I was skeptical to order as some reviews were less than par, however, I am pleasantly very satisfied!! I placed an order for 18 items & received my shipment 4 days later! Everything is ordered arrived in great condition. I'm sold and Martie has a faithful regular customer now. Martie has great prices, you need to check the expiration online (the items list the exp). Thank you Martie 🙏❤️ I recommend you check them out! (I'm not a paid customer nor do I have any connection to Martie)

  • I have gotten many things from Martie and been happy with my experiences thus far, until I had a problem with something I bought and needed to contact customer service. The item was defective and only $15, yet they absolutely refuse to part with the $15, even in store credit. Their customer service is TERRIBLE, some of the worst I’ve seen. Accusatory, demanding, and not understanding at all. If they want to stay afloat, they NEED to understand how to provide good customer service. This isn’t it.

  • I've been a shopper at Martie's for a while and remember when shopping with them has much, much better service. While it's fun to find new staple items every week at a discount, you get what you pay for, the service has gone way, way down hill as they've grown and changed distribution centers. I would say my weekly orders have been getting slower and slower. They miss items. They don't respond to emails and you can't call them either. The owners are snobs. The prices are going UP. Products arrive broken or I'm missing at least two or three items per order. Also, check expiration dates! I'm currently in a situation where I've been emailing them for days for products missing and I can't get an answer. Get it together Marties!

  • I loveeee Martie foods ! I discovered it a couple of months ago through a mutual friend and I have been hooked ever since. The discounts are insane ! I purchase from here every couple of weeks and always love the selection they have. Plenty of new items drop every single day . When something has been wrong with my order they are quick to respond and provide a solution. I have saved so much money purchasing from Martie and will continue to buy .

  • My experience with Martie was awesome! I was so surprised to see so many of my favorite bands and new things to try! I ended up saving $46 on my first order. I filed up a whole snack drawer that the kids absolutely love. So much better than my prior boring granola bar only drawer 😍

  • Received first order (after way too many text messages saying "it's on the way" etc. and attempt to get me to order again. Poor packing and one item (tuna in olive oil in glass jar) had opened and leaked all over packaging. Attempted to reach customer support ....no email. no phone number. Only instructions to send a text. No response. Tried the company's facebook page. Sent a message (no way to post publically). Again, no response. Will contact my bank and file a complaint if refund is not issued today. It's a pity, because there are decent products at good savings.

  • Ten days later no sign of my order. I received no confirmation and the site is attached to an app called shop.com that you have to download to track your order. They don't send you a tracking number and the site is not user friendly just signing in is a big hassle. Customer service rep took forever to answer the phone when I finally got through they promised my order would go out that day or the next it did not go out for 3 days after that. They sell products that are close to expiration thats how they do it so cheaply. Which means because they are mostly natural foods without artificial preservatives, they are stale. All the foods offered are [processed with tons of salt and sugar. They have daily specials but they limit the quantity to one. Pet food is the same price as the grocery store.

Fix your website and made tracking orders easier by sending a tracking number. Be truthful about delivery dates and divorce yourself from shop.com

  • Love the idea!!! Hope they open for new york area as well!

  • Martie has an amazing array of high quality brands at a DEEP discount. I was really impressed with the pricing and love that they're fighting food waste by saving these perfectly good products from the dump. Shipping was super fast and I love the branding :).

    Feedback

I can't wait until they get more products and have more details about them. While there's plenty of variety, this isn't a full stop grocery as they don't sell perishable items.

  • I had fun exploring Martie's fun and bright website and filling my box with old favorites and new discoveries. They make it easy to find the best deals on products I already know and like, and have a bunch of brands I've never heard of that were fun to try. Some products (that I normally wouldn't buy because I couldn't justify the cost) were too discounted to pass up!

More brands that I love please! A way to favorite or keep track of products I've liked so I can easily order them again if they are available.
