Imperfect Foods earns mixed reviews: the mission-driven brand delights many with convenient ordering, varied weekly selection, and occasionally excellent produce and pantry finds, but inconsistent quality and packaging undermine trust. Reviews cite fresh, flavorful staples and discoveries like Impossible meat and Minor Figures oat milk as strengths, while frequent bruised or near-expiring produce, thawed frozen items, excess packaging, and delivery-day rigidity raise concerns.

I've used Imperfect for years and apprecaite the mission and services. Products have been high quality and customer service has been great too. my only challenge is in my area they only deliver on thursdays and at inconsistent times. That's challenging with weekend trips and working in the office.
I love what this company does - the food itslef is not bad just a little imperfect which I love - so great I highly recommend
I enjoyed getting imperfect foods boxes and appreciated the use of less than perfect produce and foods.

If you aren't in a city that has city-wide industrial composting efforts, it feels like there is a lot of extra packaging that you have to just throw out.

the quality of this service has really been a bell curve over time, at least for my area i really truly love the mission and food waste is something that i think is so important however, during my last few orders, I've noticed that the prices have been the same or higher than grocery stores in my area - isn't the idea that it is unwanted produce for lower prices? much of the produce is also lower quality as they are near or past their last legs. upon receiving the last few orders, I've also had rotten or recalled grocery items. customer service is nice, though, and refunded me when i had let them know that something arrived fully moldy, but it is sad. there have also been packaging issues when ordering things like fish. every time that i've ordered fish, it is in the same liner as a lot of other non-fish items and the melted fishy water gets over everything else :'( I really wanted to love this and sometimes they do have really cool things for lower prices But in my last few orders, price has gone up and quality has gone way way down. I know there are supply chain issues that affect all this, so I do hope to try them again soon and see if things have gotten better.
Meh. I like some of their own brands and get most of my Impossible meat through them.

I don't feel like I am saving any money. And sometimes the veg are MORE expensive than Whole Foods.
I had a buddy who worked there and wanted to be supportive. Plus: it was a pandemic and Imperfect Foods helped me avoid stores. Selection was OK. Produce never arrived in good shape and the cold chain was iffy. When I started, there were errors in my boxes every week (though refunds were easy). But prices were higher than the local Whole Foods and shipping something from hours away felt global-warming-weird. I haven't had an order in a few months.

Get your cold chain and packing under control so I could order fresh staples.
I didn't like this delivery box at all. The food went bad quickly and the packaging of the vegetables didn't protect them.
Feedback
Better packaging and fresher food.

IF was my primary grocery source for the first year of the pandemic. Over time, the selection stagnated a bit, but there were enough options to mix things up from week to week. Prices were more expensive than the local grocery store but comparable or slightly cheaper than Whole Foods. There were certain brands/items that would run out and not be fulfilled, but customer support would be quick to acknowledge and address.

Certain items would sell out quickly (e.g. if you didn't check IF as soon as the order window opened, you'd be out of luck until the next week) - would be nice to be able to preview items ahead of time and know if certain ones were in limited supply or would often sell out.
I used imperfect foods for 2-3 years and it was great at first but the prices seemed to increase as they moved from purely produce to a more holistic grocery offering. I ended up cancelling as my area only offered a Wednesday afternoon delivery slot, and that didn't work for my weekly meal planning. Prices on meat/fish and variety of non-dairy and meat alternatives are great.

Please offer additional delivery days/times.
I've had a so-so experience with Imperfect Foods. The ordering system works fine. But I think the products are a bit of a gamble. I've had some produce that was over-ripe and had to be eaten immediately. I am also not crazy about how much packaging and waste is created with each shipment. I love the company's mission, but find more success with local food co-ops.

Packaging - so much waste.
I loved this concept and signed up with a friend's referral discount. I kept the subscription for a couple months until I found it a bit duplicative and hard to manage what I was buying at the grocery stores with what was available on Imperfect Foods website that week. Though I understand inventory changes, maybe this is a better product for someone who likes to fly by the seat of their pants when it comes to meal prep.

I understand the idea of trying to minimize packaging and the idea is you're getting foods that are not pristine and perfect, but often times the produce in the boxes gets so knocked around in shipping that there's more bruising than I'd expect. The cold packing also feels a bit excessive.
My experience wasn’t the best, even if I did some research before subscribing. But I guess you can’t trust everything you read on some articles online. The idea of trying new food items and helping minimize waste was very appealing to me. But in practice, the service didn’t meet my expectations. I think the minimum order value (to be eligible for free shipping) is high, this led me to purchase more than my family needed, which in turn resulted in food waste at home. In one occasion, I also ordered a dozen of eggs, when I started using them I noticed that some had some brown, blood-looking spots inside. So this means the company needs to work on quality control with its suppliers. The experience with the eggs helped me to just pull the trigger and cancel the subscription. But oh surprise, I couldn’t do it on my own. Even if I tried following one of their guides to cancel it. Which by the way included buttons that their current website doesn’t have. So I ended up calling and speaking with a client service agent who finally helped to cancel the service. If I’m honest, I feel discouraged to try another subscription of this kind.
I love the idea of getting fresh produce straight to my door for a great price. I also love how they give first time users a discount code to use. The produce is fresh and you get a pretty good amount. It's also good for trying produce that you may have not tried before!
Super great selection of tasty, healthy foods. They've got the right blend of seasonal produce, reliable staples like eggs, milk, and all-season veggies, and packaged goods (breads, snacks, olive oil, etc). I love this company!

Nothing, it's perfect!
This brand's mission is top-notch. I did one order/box through them and really enjoyed everything thing I tried. Great quality and price seemed fair.
Not worth it to me. I liked the variety of items available but, after the initial discounts, the prices are pretty much the same as what you would pay at the store. Also, I had some frozen fish in my box that did not stay frozen in transit and leaked onto some fresh produce.
This is one of the things I miss the most about living in the US. Amazing curation of products and suppliers, everything comes perfect, and it's environmentally friendly.

I wished they could have more eco-friendly packaging; it's too many cardboards and ice packs.
Absolutely love Imperfect Foods! I find it so easy to shop every week and get my favorite items every time or switch things up. I like that I can get perishable items which I can't get from Thrive Market and I can get single packages of meat, don't have to buy in bulk. A few times an item has been missing from my box and Customer Service has been great to refund me.

If you forget to customize or skip your box each week, you could get items you don't want.

The overall idea is fantastic. In reality you receive a few items, When I go shopping, I have the basics in mind and a meal plan. So when I'm sent a box full of random items, it doesn't really make for a successful week's worth of meals.

I think this idea would work best in a physical store setting.

The fruits and veggies were good, the other products were great as well! However it is too much for a single person, even when only receiving the box every other week.
