  • Wi‑fi-dependent core functionality
  • Limited free sound library

Hatch earns strong reviews for genuinely improving sleep routines with gentle sunrise alarms, soothing white/brown noise, and kid-friendly light cues, but app glitches, Wi‑Fi dependence, and paywalled content frustrate users. Reviews of Hatch highlight sleek, minimalist design and reliable nightly use across years and households, while noting intermittent audio dropouts, limited free sounds, and finicky tap controls—making it effective yet imperfect.

  • We have 2 Hatch sound machines and they are the best! They are durable, reliable, and the app is very easy to use. We use the lights program to train the kids when it's time to leave the bed.

  • We have a gen 1 Hatch Rest light and we’ve used it every night for the last 4 years with my son. It’s a great little device but it has a weird quirk that i really can’t figure out. With all the sounds that we use the most, the audio cuts out. The more we’ve used them, the more silence they hear is. It’s like the .wav is scratched or something even though that is made up nonsense. It’s such a weird issue.

  • I have the Hatch Rest and use it in my kids’ room for white noise and “ok to rise” training (I.e. the light turns green at a certain time and they know it’s ok to get up). It’s fine, it works. But for me, I prefer the rich white noise sound of the Dohm, which has an actual fan inside vs an electronic recording playing on a loop. Better sound quality, cheaper, just without the nice branding and marketing that Hatch has.

I don’t need the bells and whistles, I just want quality white noise to help me sleep. This is fine, just not as good as a natural white noise machine (Dohm)!

  • The Hatch baby lamp saved my life. Ok, not really, but it spared my husband and I from sending our toddler back to bed every 5 minutes. Love that it comes with an app and that I can lock it, so the kids can't muck with the settings.

    Feedback

I only wish the sound machine was better - it loops.

  • We have a Hatch for both us adults and for our infant. The sunrise alarm clock is really nice for those dark mornings when it is difficult to wake up. We don't really use it other than that. For our infant, the sound machine has been great! And when she gets older, the ability to use it as an indicator for when to wake up will be very helpful.

For the price, I'd expect a few more features, like connecting to Google Home/Alexa and the ability to add your own (or more) sounds. It does look nice sitting on our dresser though.

  • We've used their kids lights since birth and cannot live without them. We travel with them. Must have for new parents.

  • I was recently gifted a Hatch adult machine and am obsessed. I love that I can play with different light and sound settings to help make waking up more enjoyable and less jarring. I also love that I can see the time on the clock itself without having to look at my phone. Huge fan of this product and have heard even better things about their kid-friendly products.

The interface within the app isn't the most user friendly but I'm starting to get used to it. I wish I didn't have to be connected to my phone at all during wind down time, but have been setting a weekday and weekend routine that makes it a bit more plug and play.

  • My sister got me a hatch because her two small kids use them. I suffer from tinnitus brought upon by TMJ and some joint issues. This is such an amazing product for me. The rain sounds are wonderful and unlike any sounds apps, it doesn't interfere with anything else happening on my phone. I also love that I can use my phone or the actual hatch hardware to set sounds and volume.

I wish that the content on the app was free. It’s very expensive for full access to everything that is on the app.

  • So much better than waking up to a hellish iPhone alarm. It really works — sometimes I even wake up before the sound goes off because of the "sunrise" happening in my room!

  • Amazing! Bought one for our daughters room and then ended up buying ourselves one once she moved into her own room. Love the sounds, and the app is very easy to use.

  • We LOVE our hatch for our child’s room — the automated system to turn on and off is fantastic with very little issues of connectivity. It’s been a consistent part of night routine. Unfortunately the adult version didn’t work well for us (mostly the sounds weren’t what we were looking for) but 5 stars for the children’s one!! We take it with travel too.

  • We bought two - one for both kids. Love that these can be controlled by the app and I don’t have to be in the room to change things. It’s been super helpful with getting my littles to understand it’s time for bed and they love to turn them on and off themselves!

  • Useful and intuitive. We use all of the features. Nice design and the app is good too.

  • I love the different calming sound options and lighting options. I've had my Hatch for about a year now and rely on it as a reading light and sunrise alarm (especially during the winter months).

I have found that it's had a few issues in the past month where I've had to unplug it and plug it back in to work correctly. I'm hoping this issues won't persist because otherwise I'm really happy I purchased it.

  • We got the hatch rest for our baby. We love all the different white noise sounds and light options. Also, that you can choose the dim the lights, as opposed to on.off. It looks great in a nursery and adults can definitely use this too! The APP is also super useful and handy. We would definitely gift this to our expecting friends.

  • We have the small Hatch Rest sound machine for our daughter and it's great! I love the minimalist design and small footprint (small enough to travel with!) and it does everything I need it to. I know there is an app to control it remotely and my husband's used it effectively, but I think the device all by itself is pretty great. It's easy enough to use that even our 1-year old daughter enjoys pressing the button to turn on her white noise machine before bed.

  • We are obssesed with our Hatch. In the early days, it's so good to be able to control it remotely, and I still use the red light for middle of the night diaper changes. I can't wait to use the red and green lights to help my toddler understand night time and day time soon.

  • I have the hatch alarm for my kids and I love the options. I can control their alarm clock from my phone and set up timers on the app. My kids are at an age where they are afraid of the dark and it's been essential to get them to go to the bed. I love the rain sounds and I just discovered the lullaby sounds. My daughter really loves it. I got it as a baby shower gift and it's still going strong 4 years later. It's my most used product from my baby shower.

  • I have loved using this alarm as a gentle wake up in the morning. My partner can sleep in very easily, but he is also able to wake up to the slow wake-up sound mode of the alarm. It keeps my night stand less cluttered because it is a built-in sound machine, light, clock, and alarm. I strongly recommend using this alarm and seeing if it could improve your mornings.
