  • Customizable routines and soundscapes
  • Kid-friendly light training cues
  • Buggy, unreliable companion app
  • Wi‑fi-dependent core functionality
  • Limited free sound library

Hatch earns strong reviews for genuinely improving sleep routines with gentle sunrise alarms, soothing white/brown noise, and kid-friendly light cues, but app glitches, Wi‑Fi dependence, and paywalled content frustrate users. Reviews of Hatch highlight sleek, minimalist design and reliable nightly use across years and households, while noting intermittent audio dropouts, limited free sounds, and finicky tap controls—making it effective yet imperfect.

  • Love the Hatch that I received for my daughter from her baby shower. She loves the different light shows and sounds that lull her to sleep.

  • I love Hatch. I've now owned both generations of the sunrise alarm - the first generation (bought in late 2020), and now the second generation (bought recently in late 2023). Across both generations, the clock is great for both going to sleep and waking up - I like setting the nighttime routines of a nightlight (for reading, etc.) and then fading into white noise to go to sleep. The system helps you actually set and stick to a nighttime routine, which doesn't really happen for me unless I have the light/sound cues. (If I'm away from home and don't use the Hatch, I don't stick to a routine.) And then for waking up, the sunrise system is definitely much gentler than a harsh alarm sound out of nowhere - it's pretty lifechanging, honestly, particularly for an extremely-dark-in-the-winter place like Seattle when you wake up early. I will say that the first generation alarm was quite buggy - the app wouldn't properly pair with the clock, the clock would disconnect from wifi without explanation, the light/sound would act up at bedtime (the morning alarm always worked, thankfully, for some reason it was just the nighttime routine) - so that was a bit frustrating. I would have given the product 4 stars at that point. I was slightly nervous to buy the second generation device because I knew I'd be really frustrated if it had similar issues, but so far I've had zero issues in the few months I've had it - so now I'm up to 5 stars.

  • my hatch alarm clock absolutely was an absolute morning routine game changer - I'm able to wake up earlier and feeling more well rested. also, it really helps me resist the urge the grab my phone first thing in the morning. if anyone is trying to get up earlier and reset their mornings, getting a hatch would be one of my first recommendations.

  • Haven't used all the functionality, but this works great as a sound machine and night light for our kid. It travels easily. It's adjustable on an app on your phone so you can dim it after your kid falls asleep. I have zero complaints.

  • I've had my Hatch alarm for years and use it every day, and truly miss it when I'm out of town! The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 is because I don't think I use the cool features as much as I thought I would, partially because it's not exactly what I'm looking for. For example, I love the idea of having built-in meditations, but the meditations included aren't my favorite — if there was some way to input my own, custom meditations, I would use that feature much more often. I also kind of wish you could set up morning "routines" the same way you can at night time!

  • We have one for my son. And I got so used to it I needed one!

I love it. It can be controlled from your phone or Alexa

  • We have used a hatch for our daughters room for over three years now. It works great and is by far the "kid product" we have gotten the most longevity out of. The ability to adjust from the app in your phone is clutch and the device it's self is aesthetically pleasing which is a big perk. Compact enough that we also use it when we travel.

I wish it was easier to navigate from afar but your phone has to be within bluetooth range to conncet.

  • Great, customizable white noise machine helps baby sleep every night!

    Feedback

I've struggled with their app, especially sharing the produce so others can access the sound/color from their phone.

  • Love this night light for so many uses! Works well for programming light changes to signal sleep/wake times.

    Feedback

    App isn’t super user-friendly

  • We own two of the Hatch Rest and one of the Hatch Mini. We love how it is easy to control from the phone app and adjust sound levels of white noise for our kids without having to sneak in their room. We're teaching our toddler that the blue light with bird noise accompanying it means he can wake up and play. We use the Hatch Mini for travel since it works the same but is a smaller profile (and lightweight). Big Hatch fans and would love to try to adult sunrise alarm!

It's not intuitive for people who haven't used it before (e.g., grandparents) because you have to touch it for a certain amount of time to turn on/off, and if you don't do it long enough, it changes color and sound.

  • received this as a gift and it’s changed my life for the better! i use it to its full capabilities - sunrise light alarms, red light to help my fall asleep, guided meditation, and noise machine options. truly a game changer and looks great on the nightstand

more color options would be nice!

  • Every parent of an infant needs this. Absolutely crucial for good baby sleep.

App usability could use some improvement, sometimes laggy and would love to be able to bluetooth control it instead of wifi.

  • I love the simplicity of the design, nice to have an actual clock in my bedroom rather than relying on my phone (unanticipated perk). In the winter months I really enjoy the artificial sunrise, however doesn't make a difference in the summer, maybe if you used blackout blinds. I love the sleep noises and gentle alarms. Lots of room for improvement in terms of additional features and user friendliness.

SO much potential here. First the app connectivity could be more consistent. I'd also love if there was a snooze feature for the sound of the alarm in the morning, I like to have the light feature but don't want to hear the alarm continue. Also would be very nice to be able to use it as a speaker so I could listen to my morning news from the Hatch.

  • Love it, yet another Shark Tank brand that I have been hooked by but it has been an essential part of our 10 month old's early life. Functionally and Aesthetically please as well as easy to travel with.

  • It's the most thoughtfully designed noise maker on the market. We have a small house, and our toddlers sleep better with hatch.

  • We have the sound machine for our son and also the restore. Both are great, the restore makes waking up so much easier than a traditional alarm

  • A good sleep system and alarm. Love that you can set different nighttime routines with different sounds or meditations and can customize the brightness of your sunrise/awake alarm. A lot of the sound options for you wind down or sleep sounds are only available through a subscription, which I found to be a bit pricey.

  • I LOVE my hatch alarm clock. The restful sounds are so soothing and looking at the clock instead of my phone when I wake up in the middle of the night has allowed me to fall back asleep so much more easily. My one minor compliant is that it needs to be plugged in all the time.
