Reviews mention

  • Vibrant, giftable packaging design
  • Flavorful, smoky seafood selections
  • Ethical, sustainability-forward sourcing
  • Reliable, tender flaky textures
  • Small portions per tin
  • Occasional dry, chewy cod
  • Overly smoky, salty profiles
  • Unbranded, plain interior tins

Fishwife earns strong reviews for genuinely flavorful, high‑quality tinned seafood—standouts include Smoked Albacore Tuna, Smoked Rainbow Trout, and Fly By Jing Smoked Salmon—paired with dazzling, giftable packaging and a sustainability ethos. Reviews also flag meaningful drawbacks: small portions, frequent dryness or chewiness in cod and some salmon, a pervasive smoky profile that can overpower, unbranded “naked” tins, limited variety, and polarizing flavors; many find it best for special occasions rather than everyday use.

  • This brand is truly changing the entire idea of eating tinned fish, and has somehow made it cool and trendy. The packaging is adorable, the quality of the fish is great. My only gripe is the price, but I'd still pay it.

  • Absolutely love Fishwife! The spicy tuna is delicious and has great high quality ingredients. The packaging is incredibly eye-catching, whimsical, and great to add as a gift. Highly recommend.

  • Yum yum yum is all I can say. I’ve purchased the smoked salmon in 3 different flavors, plus the tune in two different flavors (one was spicy). This brand will stay in my kitchen at all times. Their packing is also pretty damn beautiful. Tastes very high quality.

  • Fishwife has absolutely fantastic branding, I'll give them that. That being said, I've tried a large variety of tinned fish from different brands, and I don't feel that Fishwife's flavors stood out among the other options, which is disappointing considering their price point.

  • some of the best tin fish i've had! very much a splurge, the cost is a lot for what you get. cute packaging though.

  • I purchased the anchovy tin and attempted to use it as a base for flavor in a pasta recipe. The product was easy to use - the anchovies dissolved quickly and easily in the dish. However, the flavor was quite bold (bolder than I expected) and created a very strong smell in the house. I don't feel as though it really added much of anything and I will probably not use their product again as the base of a dish. It was not cheap, created a lot of extra waste and I didn't love the final product.

  • You can't go wrong keeping a few tins of Fishwife in your pantry, IMO. Yes, there are other tinned fishes out there that are less expensive (and also delicious). But Fishwife always tastes amazing and never disappoints. It's not the cheapest, nor is it the most expensive; it's generally right down the middle price-wise, but excels on delivering high-quality products. Their packaging is fun, and I love seeing the colorful boxes among our tinned fish collection. Not the tinned fish I always purchase, but the one I return to time and again when we want to feel "fancy" but not break the bank.

  • Recently tried the smoked salmon Fly by Jing collab (picked it up on sale at a local grocery store) and it was SO good. I really want to try more varieties and their packaging is SO cute I had to save it. I wish it was a little cheaper but I understand why they price it the way they do since it's ethically-sourced, etc. Can't wait to try more!

  • tried the fly by jing collab - so good, and love what the company stands for

  • Excellent for a quality meal on the go or a solo snack. I gave them to my relatives in their Christmas stockings and everyone enjoyed them. Truly excellent quality and the packaging is a fantastic bonus.

  • Highly sourced fished in cool, trendy packaging. They really hit the "tinned fish" trend on the nose.

  • Fishwife is it. This is what I like to see. Gorgeous crazy packaging that makes me feel so hot while I am eating my insane lunch over the sink while listening to a podcast episode for the 3rd time and stare out my window having ZERO thoughts. Products like this are like a little light in a cave baby. Makes normal life just a little better. Plus it is in good oil and we all know that is what takes good tin fish great. You can also like bring this to a sexy little dinner party as a gift are something and all the girlies are going to think it is cool and think you are cool which is what life is all about.

  • Awesome selection and great tasting tinned fish. The smoked salmon is insanely good. Love the sustainability model as well.

Everything is great, would love to see wider availability in stores

  • Absolutely delightful packaging. I sampled the Campfire Cod, which I would say is a high-end product with great taste - but a LOT of flavor. Almost too much - it was hard to know what to do with it. But, absolutely delicious. Felt like a splurge to me, not an all the time purchase.

There was a lot of oil in the can; would like a better balance.

  • Being my first canned cod experience, wasn’t sure what to expect. Packaging, marketing and the brand’s story are very compelling. Therefore, I can understand the elevated price. The product itself (Campfire Cod) has a very firm texture, slightly smoky and not “canned fishy” at all. It can be the base of a mixed salad (and won’t overpower the greens) or as a canape with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. I was surprised the cod didn’t absorb more of the lemon and pepper flavor it was packed in. I’ll attempt one of the website’s recipes to see what else I can coax out of the product. But straight from the can, the pricey fish isn’t necessarily compelling enough to buy again.

  • First off, I love the packaging!! I love well designed products so much! Second, I love that it is ethically-sourced. LFG!!!! Third, this is such an easy high protein add on.

  • Love the flavour, the texture and how it taste. But the only thing is that it is exapensive for the amount. But overall it is really good and I love the packaging.

  • I wanted to love this brand. After opening the fancy box I realized it was just regular tinned fish. I will say, it had slightly better flavors than regular tinned fish. Overall, I didn't really enjoy the flavors and thought it was overly salty, which overpowered the flavors anyway. I would try another product from this brand to see if maybe there is anything less salty or more exciting.
