Reviews mention

  • Vibrant, giftable packaging design
  • Flavorful, smoky seafood selections
  • Ethical, sustainability-forward sourcing
  • Reliable, tender flaky textures
  • Small portions per tin
  • Occasional dry, chewy cod
  • Overly smoky, salty profiles
  • Unbranded, plain interior tins

Fishwife earns strong reviews for genuinely flavorful, high‑quality tinned seafood—standouts include Smoked Albacore Tuna, Smoked Rainbow Trout, and Fly By Jing Smoked Salmon—paired with dazzling, giftable packaging and a sustainability ethos. Reviews also flag meaningful drawbacks: small portions, frequent dryness or chewiness in cod and some salmon, a pervasive smoky profile that can overpower, unbranded “naked” tins, limited variety, and polarizing flavors; many find it best for special occasions rather than everyday use.

  • I love the fishwife tins. I am pescatarian and struggle to always get enough protein, so having these tins in my pantry to throw on a salad or sandwich is such an easy way to spice up my meals. I purchased during the Thingdrop but have gone back and bought more since!

  • Tasty tinned fish with adorable packaging. I really like the trout. I tried the campfire cod 3-pack in a Thingdrop, but it wasn't for me personally. I gifted the others to a friend who is a huge tinned fish lover. I love that it's a women-owned brand. I wish the actual tins were branded and not just the box.

  • Honestly, this is the best tinned fish I have ever had. It's so good on its own but particularly love making a smoked fish dip with them.

  • I was worried this would be all packaging and no substance, but the fish is actually really good! Have purchased it both as a part of thingdrop and for full price from local retailers. Just wish the price point was a little lower.

  • Brought a couple tins to a lake house outside of Seattle for an all ladies summer vacation and they came in clutch. After hours of day drinking, some canned fish and crackers really hit the spot. I made an impromptu trout salad with roasted peppers and red onion and served with crackers. It's no Tonnino but it's close.

  • Really good fish, really good branding. Beautiful, chic packaging. You can tell a lot of care goes into these products.

  • The fish itself is good—smoky but adds great flavor to salad. It’s a very small can, definitely not enough to share, but I appreciate that it’s high quality. Packaging is very cute!

  • I looooove Fishwife. Packaging / mission / marketing are all 10/10. And the seafood truly tastes phenomenal.

It's just not very much fish in each can. I would probably pay $15 a can if there was more fish.

  • It's cod! A tinned fish with spice. It has the juice! Please read the above to the tune of the corn kid song. I love these fishies. Pricey sure, but it's high quality and they taste amazing.

  • I tried the Fly by Jing one and I thought the spicy could have been pumped up a bit. Also-- the overall quality was not there for 10$ a can. High end tinned fish costs between 6$ to 8$-- this product is a almost 125% more expensive and yet I did not get that in the flavor.

Increase the amount or showcase why I should pay almost 40$ for 3 tins.

  • Super cute packaging - perfect for sharing or gifting!

The tin itself does not have any text or images on it so if you serve the fish without the box, you can't tell what it is or where it's from. Also, at $13/box for retail, it can be quite pricey. That would probably prohibit me from buying this more often.

  • I love Fishwife! A bit expensive when compared to some other tins of fish but I think it's worth it due to their mission, appealing branding, and delicious and high quality product! I've tried the tuna, trout, and salmon and all are tasty. They make easy meals and are great on the go. The salmon was my favorite and while I don't normally like trout much, the trout was my second favorite! The tuna was good too but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again (although I would definitely eat it again if available / around). I'm not usually a fan of cod but I thought I'd give it as try when I got it as a drop... I'm still not a fan. The cod was very chewy and the oil / seasoning was too strong for me although it did taste high quality. Fishwife does have friendly and fast customer service, which is nice.

  • The packaging is amazing, the smokey flavor is unmatched. this is my go-to for canned fish when I'm adding it to a salad, pasta, or tuna melt. I can't go back to the old stuff!

Bigger cans for sharing... and price

  • Everything about Fishwife is magic. It's been super exciting to watch this brand put people on to the idea that tinned fish can be a fun addition in the kitchen. Also knowing that it comes from a sustainable source is really pleasing to the homegirls

I wish that they shipped to Canada and that there was more diversity in the types of recipes that they are offering. It seems to cater to more of the Western idea when canned fish is quite big in other cultures!

  • Excellent taste and packaging. It’s also sustainably sourced which is great! Would recommend this brand to anyone who likes tinned fish or wants to try it!

  • I am OBSESSED with fishwife tinned fish. I recently ordered the smokey trio & ate all 3 cans in a week. my go to prep is grilling some sourdough and topping it with cream cheese or some sort of spread and then top with the fish. it’s incredible! I do think it’s kind of expensive - it’s a special occasion thing in my household but if you do have the cash I would stock up! I understand the pricing being high due to everything that goes into it and how high quality the fish is. The branding and everything is so on point - I LOVE fish wife! try asap.

  • Very tasty, the quality of the oil really makes a difference! Also the packaging is so cute- I feel like I need to put it on display! Would be fun for a gift but probably not an every day purchase.

  • I eat a lot of tinned fish. I did it before it was trendy. Fishwife is one of my favorites. Especially on the go so that I don’t have to elevate my own can of sardines or salmon. Fishwife is always ready to go.

  • Everything about this brand brings me joy- packaging, flavors, sourcing. The new fly by jing collab is amazing. Can't wait to see other collabs come out.
