Reviews mention

  • Inventive themed toy designs
  • Durable super chewer options
  • Responsive, helpful customer service
  • Thoughtful size customization options
  • Inconsistent toy durability for power chewers
  • Repetitive, sometimes upsetting treats
  • Rigid, duplicative theme customization
  • Nylon chews create sharp edges

Barkbox earns largely positive reviews for delightful themed unboxings, durable toys (especially Super Chewer for many) and responsive, accommodating customer service, so yes—the brand generally works and is good for keeping dogs engaged. Reviews also flag weaknesses: treats can be repetitive or upset sensitive stomachs, some toys fail fast for extreme chewers or pose tearable parts, customization/themes can feel rigid or duplicative, and auto‑renewal and shipping issues frustrate some users.

  • It was ok. The items weren’t customized to my dogs size.

    Feedback

I think the items should have been customized to a medium size dog.

  • This is a great company with excellent treats and toys for your fur babies. They have a variety of toys, interactive, super chewer etc. if you have any feedback or questions staff are extremely helpful.

  • Before I got my puppy, I had no clue the rate at which dog toys need to be replenished. A friend gifted me my first few months of BarkBox, and it made those fun but stressful puppy days so much better. My dog Humboldt seemed to always know that the box was for him and got excited every time it showed up on our stoop. We eventually moved to their Super Chewer box to try to stretch our dollar per toy a bit more (the swap process was super easy—shoutout to their support team). We've since cancelled as Humboldt isn't able to destroy the hard rubber quite as quickly and our house was overwhelming full of toys. We'll definitely hop back in once the toy population in our house decreases again.

Loved how easy it was to manage my subscription across the different offerings. CX was super responsive and quick to attend to my needs. The Super Chewer toys aren't the cutest and a bunch of them end up looking like misshappen blobs. There was one particular Halloween rabbit with terrifying teeth. Would love to see the aesthetics of these toys improve a bit!

  • I love this idea, but my dog did not like the toys and his vet put him on a diet for weight loss so he couldn't have the treats either leaving us no choice but to stop getting the boxes. But while he could have the treats then the boxes were super fun!

    Feedback

I would put things in beyond just toys and treats.

  • Honestly, the only reason I'm giving it a 3 is because: (1) they try to tie you down to super long subscriptions (6-months, etc.) and (2) the price. Otherwise, the products are great. However, my pup no longer needs a subscription because he has far too many toys from Barkbox. Maybe I'd try it again in the future once all the toys are destroyed, but it's too expensive in the meantime.

If your pup is a toy destroyer, then this is the perfect product for you. However, keep in mind you'll be locked in to a subscription for some time even if you no longer want it.

  • Barkbox has one of the best costumer services out there. I was shocked. Their website is really fun to go to and super easy to navigate through. My pup loves their toys, and I love how every month is themed. Makes it fun to open and have seasonal toys for my dog. I'm not a super fan of their treats, my dog seems not to love them as much. But I wouldn't say they are bad. Barkbox is a great brand and would recommend it to anybody who has a dog. It also has a great price for what you get!

  • Ive gifted Bark Box and gotten it for my own pup in the past. Not only do I love the fun monthly themes but my pup also seems to love most of the toys and treats as well. On the off chance we've received something she doesn't like, customer service has gone above and beyond to work with us. They have a 100% love guarantee, so if she didn't love a toy or treat they sent us now substitutes free of charge with no return necessary. They also are easy to get ahold of with questions and will work with you to customize your future boxes to make sure your dog gets exactly what they want in the upcoming months.

No improvements need, fan for life! (both me and my pup)

  • A bored dog is a destructive dog. Bark box makes it easy to keep them happy and not chewing on your furniture. I have used them for several years now. My dog has a blast tearing the toys apart and then parading proudly with the squeaker. They are great in you can customize the boxes a bit based on dog chew level. So it makes the toys last longer. They can also let you choose a box of 2 toys and 3 treats, or just 3 toys.

    Feedback

We don't let our dog have too many treats, so the choices of 2 toys and 3 bags of treats vs. 3 toys and no treats seems a bit lopsided for the dollar value. How does 3 bags of treats equal 1 toy in price? Please consider changing the 3 toy box to be 4 toys instead.

  • The original Barkbox seemed nice - did a 2 month trial, treats were well received but toys were hit and miss both in interest and quality. Their Bark Bright dental chew system however seems far better than other dental chews I've bought, and for about the same price range if done on longer subscription.

    Feedback

More flexible subscription tools (changing delivery date if not out, etc)

  • So customizable and it's so fun to see my dog get so excited every month when he gets new toys. My dog is picky so he doesn't like the treats so we do toys only. I've only had to deal with customer service once but they responded quickly and were quick to propose a solution.

  • Super convenient to keep your dog entertained! Especially if you have a chewer. My dog literally thinks all packages are for him now. The toys are adorable and designed great for interaction with dogs (more like puzzles than just stuffed toys). The treats are my dog's favorites. Customer Service even worked with me to adjust my box with more treats after the toys started piling up on my non-chewing pooch.

    Feedback

The option for quarterly deliveries or pausing deliveries would be nice.

  • Love our monthly BarkBox! Our dog now recognizes the box, and loves all the treats and toys. The convenience of delivery monthly and cute, themed boxes keep us subscribed!

    Feedback

Wish the "heavy duty", "tough chewer" toy options weren't such a price jump.

  • While the bark box was great for my pup, I think it is difficult to keep subscribing after the first 6 months. Great idea for a new puppy or dog but I think once you hit 6 months you have enough toys (unless your dog chews through them quickly)

    Feedback

Every other month options or different subscriptions

  • my dog had a bark box subscription for the first 2 years i’ve had him. now i just have way too many dog toys! we use the super chewer edition due to my dog being able to easily destroy anything. when he does destroy a toy that otherwise was meant for hard chewers, bark box was really great about sending a new/different toy.

  • A great product, but only if your dog isn't picky, unfortunately.

  • Top notch customer service more than anything. And my dog has a very small & short snout, and they somehow are able to send toys that fit him 90%+ of the time.

    Feedback

There could be more variety in treats -- after a few months, I've noticed that a lot of them are repeated

  • I will start by saying their customer service is excellent and responsive to messages. However, if you have a dog that is a hardcore chewer their toys don't cut it. My dog was destroying the regular toys in minutes so I changed to the Super Chewer version and went through the process of selecting the type of toys that were best for him. Last month the toys that they sent were dense, heavy and impossible to chew on - my dog had absolutely no interest in either of them (and this wasn't the first time that has happened. The treats that are included are a hit with both my dogs but what I was really looking for was something to entertain the younger one. Obviously every dog is different, but I would recommend to people with dogs that are hard on toys to think twice before subscribing.

    Feedback

A better selection of toys for the Super Chewer subscription.

  • We adopted a dog about 3 months ago, and quickly discovered that he's REALLY into destroying his toys. The SuperChewer box has been amazing, the themes are really cute + the toys are pretty tough (they've lasted much longer than we thought they would). We've also appreciated the amount of treats + chews that come with each box -- it's worth the monthly cost IMO, especially if you have a very food-motivated dog.

    Feedback

The nylon toys are great, but sometimes Howie's aggressive chewing creates small but sharp shards that can cut into his gums. We supervise playtime so we catch this pretty fast + just sand the toy down, but it's something to be aware of. Esp if you're first-time dog owners like us!

  • I love that they offer pupbox for puppies! I had a subscription for my dog's first year and it came with training tips too. I think the price is very fair for the items that you get! So much fun to get every month.

  • Like a lot of us out there I am obsessed with my pups and would do anything for them so with that said I was happy to sign up for bark box and get them a cute gift each month. I found that I wasn’t loving the treats (certain ingredients) and they toys were cute but the quality was usually so-so. I chose to end my subscription and just take my dogs to a locally owned shop so they could pick out their own toys
