Reviews mention

  • Inventive themed toy designs
  • Durable super chewer options
  • Responsive, helpful customer service
  • Thoughtful size customization options
  • Inconsistent toy durability for power chewers
  • Repetitive, sometimes upsetting treats
  • Rigid, duplicative theme customization
  • Nylon chews create sharp edges

Barkbox earns largely positive reviews for delightful themed unboxings, durable toys (especially Super Chewer for many) and responsive, accommodating customer service, so yes—the brand generally works and is good for keeping dogs engaged. Reviews also flag weaknesses: treats can be repetitive or upset sensitive stomachs, some toys fail fast for extreme chewers or pose tearable parts, customization/themes can feel rigid or duplicative, and auto‑renewal and shipping issues frustrate some users.

  • My dog and I loved opening her advent calendar together! It was such a cute idea of bark box to make these. Some of the cookies were even shaped like little gingerbread cookies which was so festive and fun!

  • I purchased a 6-month prepaid package. At no point during checkout or in any confirmation email was it clearly disclosed that this would auto-renew. To be proactive, I set a reminder in month five to cancel. When I logged into my account, there were no upcoming orders listed and no visible setting to disable auto-renewal. Despite that, my card was charged $200 for another six months. I contacted customer service immediately — before anything shipped — and was told they would not issue a refund. The only option offered was to turn off future renewals. Charging customers without clear, transparent renewal disclosure — and then refusing a refund prior to fulfillment — reflects extremely poor business practices. Proceed with caution and monitor your billing closely.

  • I haven't tried the subscription service itself, but I have tried some treats from the brand. The branding and design for these is stellar, but the ingredients are only okay. The price for these is fair. My puppy loves these, but she loves everything.

  • I’ve had a subscription to BarkBox for about 1.5 years consecutively and my dog has received probably a dozen boxes from friends and family. The process is fun and simple to complete in terms of indicating your dog’s breed, age, preference or more snacks vs toys, and if they are a super chewer. I was pleased there was also consideration to any ingredients your dog may be allergic to so they will avoid those treats in your box. It’s also easy to update your preferences or pause the subscription. What was most enjoyable and well-done is the different themes each box has, sometimes it’s seasonal and sometimes it’s based on something else like, Scooby Doo. The toys have incredible detail and they have an excellent range of incorporating the spectrum of toy qualities, like crinkly, ropes, squeaky, toys in toys, and more. Their product design and research teams must be top-notch. I feel their pricing is also fair at about $25-$35 per month for a box that contained 2 full size treat bags, 2 full size toys, and 1 bone—you can also indicate your preference of treat to toy ratio. Their customer service is super responsive and it’s always a delight to get a birthday card in the mail from them for my dog. I’ve also revived promo codes from them as well. Highly recommend trying BarkBox or gifting it!

  • This company has gone above and beyond time and time again! We signed up for a temporary Barkbox subscription and Barkbox proactively reached out to check if our pup liked the first box. We were then able to adjust the second box quickly before it shipped to include less of what he didn’t care for. The toys have been very high-quality and I love that we can give the ones he doesn’t love as presents to our friends’ dogs during the holidays. It ended up saving me a couple of trips! For the price, it’s a great value!

  • I was most happy with barkbox because I was able to swap my box for extra toys while forgoing the treats. My pup was never much into the treats, but she loves the toys so it was win-win. Toys are super cute and I love the details they put in to make them extra silly.

  • I love the idea and concept of a monthly subscription box for my fur babies. Unfortunately I can’t justify the price for how little toys/treats they send, but I can’t deny that the convenience may just be worth it!

  • I’ve never tried the Bark Box subscription, but I did buy one for my dog during Christmas, and I have to say, I’m really impressed with their toys. I only buy Bark toys now because they’ve proven to be incredibly durable. My dog loves playing tug-of-war, even with their toys that aren’t specifically designed for it—yes, we’ve even used their Oreos toys for tug-of-war! And guess what? They still hold up! Also, they have many options for to hide treats in there toys for stimulation for your dog! What’s even better is that after washing them, they honestly feel brand new. The durability is unmatched, and I love how unique their designs are. Just recently, I picked up a toy called Yappy Meals from Target, inspired by McDonald's, and it was such a fun, original design. It’s just another reason why I love this brand. My dog is obsessed with their toys, and I can’t recommend them enough. If you're looking for durable, fun, and unique dog toys, Bark is where it’s at!

  • My family (including the pup) loves our monthly Bark Box delivery! We always get a plethora of clever toys, tasty treats, and an occasional surprise. The website makes adding on extras a little too easy, but I can’t regret spoiling my dog a little!

  • I have no bad things to say about Barkbox. I used to get then for my dog when he was a puppy and destroyed toys. You can get toys of all durability. They come with cute little themes every month. You get two packages of treats which last forever. It's a good price for what you're getting. My dog would always get so excited for the box. We don't get them anymore because of our ENOURMOUS toy pile, not because he didn't love them. Would recommend.

  • My dog absolutely loved BarkBox. The amount of things you get (both treats and toys) was well worth the amount spent. Their customer service is also a highlight - they were super helpful and very flexible. I bought a super chewer box by accident and they adjusted my box to be regular, sent toys to make up for the ones we got in the wrong box, and refunded some of my money for my own mistake. My dog loved both the toys and the treats, some toys lasted him well over the year. The price felt suitable and definitely was worth supporting the company. The cancellation process was quick and easy. I highly recommend BarkBox.

  • Barkbox is always sending us innovative toys and yummy treats. The fun toys always make us smile and our mini Aussie loves playing with every toy we’ve gotten from Barkbox so far. We’ve received three boxes in total and feel like it’s a good deal. The pumpkin and honey sticks are a favorite.

None. Keep up the hilarious social media content.

  • Such a fun surprise for your dog! The treats are nice, and the toys are ok. They usually only last a few minutes in my house, but the double stuffed toys get you another extra few minutes! Even the super chewer box wasn't quite tough enough for the true super chewers, but they would at least last over a week on occasion!

  • Wonderful Quality, Toys and treats never disappoint. Themes are a huge bonus and you have so many options. Not random surprise box of things you won`t use like some subscriptions. 10 out of 10

  • major BarkBox fans and have been subscribing since adopting our dog, Ellie, in October. She is such a special girl and it’s been all of our favorite day of the month waiting to see what her box has inside. Sometimes it can be a little disappointing to get the exact same toy with just a different themed print from month to month, but overall they have pretty good variety.

  • Not all the toys are higher end but most are. They also have such great add ons. My pups know when they see their bark box they get so excited.

  • This company goes above and beyond for their customers. If I have ever given a particular item less than five stars (each month you have the opportunity to give feedback on each item in your box), they reach out to make sure that the issue is addressed and offer solutions. The toys are adorable, the treats are fun, and the customer service is absolutely unmatched.

  • My dog loved it. There were toys, accessories and were treat. The latter are also full size too! The box also arrives around the same time each month. Definitely worth the money, to me. While customer service is lovely.

  • I subscribed to BarkBox after seeing one of the brand's many social media ads around the holidays. They were running a promotion to get a free apparel item when subscribing, my dog's birthday was coming up, and I was like "why not?!" We have definitely loved receiving the boxes, and I understand it would be difficult to scale, but I just wish they were able to be a bit more personalized, or you could pause/cancel/resume your subscription more easily. My dog has some food allergies/doesn't like chewing bones, but that was a good portion of each box. I also found that I was getting overwhelmed by the number of new toys and bags of treats we were getting each month — I think it would be perfect to be able to do a 6-month subscription but receive a box every other month instead of consecutively. It's always tricky because some dogs go through toys instantly, while others take their sweet time (like mine). All of that being said, I always LOVED seeing how creative the themes and toys were every month, and I was always impressed by their durability. I canceled my subscription after 6 months, but I definitely don't regret having it and will continue using the items with my dog for as long as I can!

  • I just got my second Bark Box and overall I am pretty happy. So is Debi, My 2 year old Mini Pinscher. She destroys most toys but the super chew toys I have received in both boxes she has not only loved but they have survived so far. Which makes the subscription worth it already. The treats are ok, I am very strict with what she can have and some of the ingredients I don't love. I also said no Lamb, it makes her gas lol, and in the second box I got a lamb treat. Oh well, its still worth the money, Hopefully I don't get lamb again. It gives me a bag of treats to give away to the neighbor.

I love knowing a box is going to come once a month. I wish we could choose which toys each month would be included in the box but its also fun being surprised.
