  • Creamy, velvety chocolate texture

Tony’s Chocolonely impresses in reviews for rich, creamy chocolate with inventive flavors like Milk Caramel Sea Salt, Dark Almond Sea Salt, and Pretzel Toffee, and for an ethical mission around fair, traceable cocoa. Reviews also flag drawbacks: bars are very thick with uneven pieces that are hard to break or share, many milk and some dark varieties read too sweet, and a few note concerns about heavy metals in dark chocolate and limited dark/vegan options.

  • Tony’s Chocolonely is hands down one of the best chocolate brands I’ve tried. The chocolate is rich, creamy, and made with high-quality ingredients, and the flavor combinations are always unique without being overwhelming. I also love that the company is committed to making the cocoa industry more ethical by promoting fairer sourcing and greater transparency. It feels good supporting a brand that’s not only delicious but also trying to make a real difference. Highly recommend the Caramel Sea Salt bar—it’s incredible!

  • It's decent chocolate. We like that it's not using slave labor. The price isn't significantly higher than other chocolates so you really have to ask the other companies that do use slave labors why they are. I personally like darker chocolates and think this is a bit sweet, but it's not bad.

  • I tried Tony’s caramel chocolate bar. I think the chocolate was good but it was so salty. I didn’t see the sea salt ingredient until after I took a bite. Also I didn’t like the hard bits of caramel. I like what the company stands for so I will try the plain milk chocolate next time.

  • I finally tried Tony’s Chocolonely and while I can see why so many people love it—the bars are huge, the flavours are fun, and the brand itself has such a great mission—I have to admit I still prefer Lindt. Tony’s is creamy and indulgent, but for me Lindt just has that smoother, more refined taste that I reach for when I really want to treat myself.

  • This is honestly the best chocolate! It’s ethically made, and the brand is very customer centric. Packaging is super unique even the way they shaped the bars. They have so many different flavours and they make it in all different sizes and it’s also great for gifting. Truly the best taste. One of the only chocolates I buy now.

  • Tony’s Chocoloney is probably the best chocolate I have ever had. Not only do they openly aim to be sustainable and anti-slavery, but it also taste amazing! The advent calendar is a great way to try all of the different flavors that they have, which a few of the days also not having any chocolates to show how it has been an unethical process for a long time.

  • I used to laugh at the name / why would a chocolate bar company want to say “lonely.” Until I read about Tony’s mission, to eradicate slavery and pay a fair wage in the cacao supply chain. Opened my eyes to this whole cause, and how he is lonely in his quest (the big chocolate co’s don’t care!), but they also make a great bar.

  • I love this chocolate, especially the milk chocolate and Milk Caramel Sea Salt. It’s super creamy, with caramel pieces that melt in your mouth and a subtle touch of sea salt that enhances the flavor. It’s addictive — I always keep a bar at home! Plus, knowing it’s fair trade makes it even better.

  • This brand is definitely worth the higher price I feel because I can eat this chocolate in good conscious because it's made ethically. The taste itself for the bars is better than a lot of other chocolate bars in the US anyway. Personally I prefer my dark chocolate to taste a little more bitter, but the bar I tried is fine enough.

  • It seems everyone in the world has tried Tony's Chocolonely before me. Maybe this is because I'm still not convinced I can pronounce "Chocolonely" without tripping on my own tongue? Anyway, back to the story of how I first tried Tony's Chocolonely. I was roaming the streets of Athens one evening in search of a snack. I walk into a local supermarket and notice Tony's Chocolonely sitting there on the shelf. I think to myself, if Tony's Chocolonely is now available in the Athen's equivalent of a 7 Eleven, maybe it's time for me to take the plunge. Tasting notes - it wasn't bad. The milk chocolate bar tasted like any generic milk chocolate to me. It didn't have the richness and indulgent feeling of a high quality Swiss chocolate, but I'd argue it definitely held it's own with a Milka or Cadbury's Dairy Milk. If I was reviewing this alone, it would probably be 3/5. As a plus, I did kind of love the quirky bar shape. The caramel sea salt variety is what makes this review 4 /5 though. It's delicious - in fact I consumed the entire bar in around two minutes.

To me orange packaging says "orange flavor". Luckily the caramel sea salt was delicious!

  • I love this brand and what it stands for! The chocolate being delicious and their many flavors is just a plus! I personally love to keep a big milk chocolate bar in my fridge to break hunks off of 😅 better chocolate with a better mission!

  • Taste and texture is fine, but in this price range they have a lot of competitors with delicious and healthy ingredients. I typically end up buying other brands due to better deals for same quality. I found ONE variety with reasonable ingredients, which is 70% dark chocolate. Most others contain unhealthy add-ins. Being made in Belgium I am disappointed.

  • I love Tony’s chocolate! It’s the highlight of the year when it is about to be Easter and the chocolate eggs in the egg container come out! I love the mini eggs and the mini container! So enjoyable and such great tastes. I highly recommend! You will have a much better day after eating Tony’s chocolate!

  • I dont know why I slept on these so long. Absolutely outstanding. The flavors I tried were both so good. Luckily, the portions are generous, so I have more for the weekend. I will be trying more and I will be trying them soon.

  • A real life Willy Wonka experience. The bars are big & the flavors are amazing. I especially love any of the caramel ones. For a while I was only seeing them available at Whole Foods but have recently seen Tony’s at more places including the small bars at CVS.

While it is fun, I don’t love the shape of the pieces from a practicality standpoint. It makes it difficult to break up/portion control and share with other people.

  • I really can't think of a more attention-grabbing chocolate bar. I've started seeing these at bodegas and I recently grabbed the salted caramel flavor. Big fan of the taste and also love the size. Really feels like a modern day Willy Wonka.

    Buying them in packs?

  • This is one of those brands that as soon as you learn the backstory, it immediately becomes your new favorite brand. The product itself isn't *that* mind-blowing (I like simple dark chocolate and know that people praise Tony's more unique flavors), but the brand and story behind Tony's is remarkable. Similar to Patagonia, I feel like they are putting values above anything else, and I really respect that. So that's why I keep buying Tony's, and that's why they deserve a 5 star from me :)

  • I always bought this chocolate as gifts because the packaging was so fun. I actually went to their store in Amsterdam and made my own bar and fell in love with the brand - I even went back again on the same trip :)

  • i'd absolutely purchase again! the chocolate caramel bar tasted incredible, but tastes even better knowing that the cocoa is sustainably sourced and ethically produced. warms my heart to see that brands are taking the initiative and choosing quality + good working conditions.

  • Tony's is a big chocolate bar! BIG! Admirable and socially conscious to be produced from slavery free cocoa farms. I like chocolate, but I'm not a chocoholic in that I don't crave it, nor will I eat pounds of it just because it's chocolate. I liked the graphic imagery of the packaging. The bar itself is quite chunky and kind of hard to break apart into pieces. The bar itself is far too large in my opinon to be a serving size. The mouth flavor was pleasant, however, maybe a tad too sweet. My son devoured it, saying it was awesomely delicious. Jury is out for me if I'll give it another try.
