  • Creamy, indulgent texture

  • Ethical, transparent sourcing
  • Vibrant, giftable packaging
  • Thick, hard-to-break bars
  • Irregular, awkward segments
  • Some dark bars overly sweet

Tony’s Chocolonely earns strong reviews for rich, creamy chocolate and inventive flavors like Milk Caramel Sea Salt, Pretzel Toffee, and White Raspberry Popping Candy, while its fair-trade, anti-slavery mission resonates. Reviews also flag drawbacks: bars are very thick with irregular break lines that are hard to portion, some dark varieties run too sweet or chalky, and concerns appear about heavy metals in certain dark bars.

  • Tony's is a big chocolate bar! BIG! Admirable and socially conscious to be produced from slavery free cocoa farms. I like chocolate, but I'm not a chocoholic in that I don't crave it, nor will I eat pounds of it just because it's chocolate. I liked the graphic imagery of the packaging. The bar itself is quite chunky and kind of hard to break apart into pieces. The bar itself is far too large in my opinon to be a serving size. The mouth flavor was pleasant, however, maybe a tad too sweet. My son devoured it, saying it was awesomely delicious. Jury is out for me if I'll give it another try.

  • Tony's Chocolonley bars are my go-to when I'm craving a sweet treat, the wide variety of flavors allows me to pick based on my mood. The way they incorporate flavors into their chocolate is unlike other chocolate bars I have had. The pattern of the bar is unique and calls for a different size when you break off a piece to eat. I love the sea salt and caramel because it has chunks of flavors instead of sticky caramel.

  • I’ve had the bars before, but the tiny bites are perfect for me! I have the caramel sea salt ones currently. They are heavenly with a bit of coffee as an after work treat. Individually packaged so I don’t go crazy on them. I also love the story about their logo as a design geek. 😍

  • Wow wow wow. When I say this chocolate felt like I was eating a delicious soft chocolate cloud ☁️ 🍫 I MEAN IT! It was so yummy I had to stop myself from eating the whole bar. I picked this up at Whole Foods and there were so many different flavors to choose from. Definitely looking forward to trying another flavor! I got the dark milk chocolate and it’s totally worth the money. The branding is super cute so it makes a great gift. It also feels like you’re eating something fun and unwrapping a treasure!

    Single serving sizes!

  • Really freaking solid chocolate. I love the packaging and opening it up makes me feel like i took a trip to Willy Wonka for whatever reason. I have tried the dark chocolate varieties and also the milk chocolate. Surprisingly I really liked the white chocolate with popping candy (Willy wonka references again!) Will continue to buy - like that my local Whole Foods has these in stock and occasionally goes on sale.

  • I think it's kinda safe to say that Tony's chocolates were one of the best chocolates I've ever had! I liked their taste and texture - very rich and smooth; I also liked the fact that they are ethically sourced.

  • Hard to not root for this brand. The product is fantastic (not sure how you can beat the milk caramel sea salt) and the story / mission is quite special. I remember opening my first bar and seeing the unique detail in the mold... had a big time positive impact on me!

  • As someone who gravitates more toward caramel-y sweets, I rarely enjoy chocolate on its own. That being said...Tony's is definitely an exception! I could eat it every day. I appreciate that they have really expanded the flavor offerings and branched out into mini sizes.

It can be difficult to break the regular-sized bars into bite-size chunks.

  • If you’re craving a rich savory chocolate this is it! I love to indulge in the chocolate because it feels worth my money. I feel like I am in the chocolate factory when I unwrap this chocolate bar. I love the packaging 🥰

  • I loooooooove Tony's Chocolonelys! About 4 years ago when I was in New York I saw one of these chocolate bars in a market and decided to give it a try even though it was a little pricey. I am so glad I did because it was worth ever penny! OMG the pretzel toffee, milk caramel sea salt, and milk wafer cookie are soooo yummy, I've already tried so many flavors and can't wait to try more!!! I honestly always keep one of these chocolate bars in my bedside drawer 😝

  • I love how thick and chunky each chocolate "square" is. And addition points of being a brand truly committed to improving the lives of cocoa farmers and end exploitation in the cocoa industry. So not only tastes great but I know I'm contributing to their mission and transparency for the cocoa industry.

  • I just got these for my son’s 3rd birthday! We got the variety pack- it’s all their chocolate. As a black woman- providing equal, living wage for laborers is something I care deeply about and that’s what made me buy this $10 chocolate 🤣 favorites in the house where the hazelnut milk chocolate and dark chocolate flavors. My son devoured the 70% cocoa which was a plus! It’s creamy, thick, rich and flavorful even after days of opening and it’s not owned by Coca Cola so the dollars are counting towards change!

  • I’m obsessed with Tony’s Chocolate! I just bought a bar at the airport less than 10 minutes ago. I’m not a huge milk chocolate fan but these bars are the best. So creamy, so tasty. I am a loyal customer, even if it means spending $10 at a local LA store

  • Fun packaging and flavors! My husband got a set where we can try all the flavors and we did our own little chocolate tasting. The mission is admirable and honestly the opening — I didn’t know the reality of cocoa farms that this brand clearly stands out from others.

  • i luuuuv chocolate so am always up for new products (to me). i spotted these at my local cvs, where i always spend $ on extra random products i shouldn’t! bc of the pandemic i havent really been to the grocery store but order online so finding items like this are usually at the drugstore. first impression… its a very large, thick bar, by far more than any other, i cant think of any other brand even close to compare. i tried choc caramel which is my absolute fave & choc peppermint which was a seasonal flavor.

i was disappointed w the choc caramel as i was hoping for thick (or even thin) ooey gooey caramel but its more like hard little flecks of caramel. the peppermint was better with small chunks of peppermint candy throughout. unfortunately neither was good enough that i finished either bar & finally tossed remaining peppermint as its 5mo old & caramel i knew i would rather indulge my calories on a bar i really luv. packaging was super cute esp on inside with neat little pictures & info on inside. bc of the size & packaging i think it would make a good gift for a friend, maybe do 2 tie together with a bow

  • I bought this product on my own from Target and loved it. I bought a pack which had all the variety and two huge milk chocolate bars. My family and I finished most of it before taking the pictures, we liked almost all the flavors, I wasn't a fan milk honey almond nougat but my family liked it. Over all it is a good product.

  • This is the only brand of chocolate bars I buy!!! So many fun and interesting flavors that I love! Also I love their commitment to sustainable chocolate harvesting and production! Bars are pricey but worth it - you get a lot of chocolate in there!!!

  • i was first introduced to tony chocolonely by dutch coworkers. they were obsessed with it, and pretty quickly, i was too. the chocolate is just so much better than canadian chocolate. the dark chocolate makes me remember why i love dark chocolate. the milk chocolate makes me remember why i love milk chocolate.

    no notes!

  • Love the mission, love the message they bring across and I think it is really nice that the bars are 180grammes, which is a lot of chocolate. Fun packaging and flavours.

The packaging has the message on the inside but when opening the bar, the message is most of the time ripped in half. Chocolate has unequal pieces because of the message. Bit unhandy with sharing, but hey, that's life!

    Works for Tony's Chocolonely
  • Tony's Chocolonely has recently become my favorite chocolate bar. I live in Belgium, so I've had my fair share of good quality chocolate. Tony's just ticks a lot of boxes: great quality, a wide range of classic as well as fun experimenting flavors, fun design, and they not only stand up for fair trading, but they incorporate it into their marketing. As you can see on the image, they don't have the typical squares of chocolate, but are all divided into different sizes. This is their way of showing the world that a lot of ways of doing things aren't fair, which is something we need to discuss.

I recently tried their collaboration with Ben & Jerry's (dark milk brownie) which has been one of my favorites so far. They have also made their version of well known flavors (Twix & Kit-Kat), which gives a taste of nostalgia but still staying true to their brand. Price-quality is great!
